Love Live Life + One - Love Will Make a Better You (1971)

Yeah, that opener is maybe the best thing ever. 17 minutes of the jammiest, most freaked-out psych rock I've ever heard, its like the Flower Travellin' Band on crack. And then there are 4 other tracks, phenomenal. They're solid, and have some moments on par with the opener, but are very unmemorable. I'm just imagining if this album was something like Satori, with that opener expanded upon and split up into parts. In that case it'd be the best album ever, but as it is its a heavily frontloaded record.

Easily part of the weirdest music I've ever heard. Tazartès' vocal performance is out of this world, often just made of screaming or throat singing. I liked even more the parts sung (or spoken) in French. The instrumentals are hard to describe, sometimes even hard to notice. They had another layer of weirdness to the whole. Fantastic and unique record.

Great lineup, great interaction between the players. It's all satisfying free jazz, and it's pretty varied. Some tracks are more meditative, some others are more aggressive (but never too noisy), some focus on a particular player... Sometimes you'll be surprised by more unconvential instruments or playing technique

I wasn't very impressed by Acid Rap, but listening to Ten Day now I'm not sure how right I was then. This album's kind of rough in the way we know mixtapes in hip hop to be, but Chance's lines are a lot more clever than I would ever have expected. In a way he reminds me of Heems or Danny Brown. That might be his voice trying to find an inflection similar to those or other artists, that's really what keeps me from calling it super great or anything.

>Michael Formanek & Ensemble Kolossus - The Distance
This is a fresh look at the possibilities of big band music in the 21st century. There are a lot of interesting ideas here, but it does run a bit long.
>Aziza Brahim - Abbar el Hamada
Some great music from Algeria. It's reminiscent of other bands from the region, such as Tinariwen, but more varied and unique.
>Goncalo F. Cardoso - A Study into 21st Century Drone Acoustics
This is a pretty unique album. Side A contains recordings of engine noise from some of the military drones that are in use over Gaza. The liner notes talk about how these sounds cause a lot of people to develop anxiety because they are a constant reminder that death is immanent. The operators on the other hand sit at desks hundreds or thousands of miles away and don't experience the sounds. The second side is an interesting mix of the drone recordings with other stuff to create an interesting ambiance.

Wow, this is actually a lot more gothic than I thought it would be, it really sounds like a post-punk/gothic rock album with country instrumentation. And its good, even if this odd mixture doesn't work out all the time. But man, there are some solid tunes here. The first two tracks are bonafide classics, and Edwards is an incredible vocalist. Definitely wanna check out more of this bands stuff, along with Wovenhand.

The Wall has some pretty fine songs, but there's so much filler and cringy Rog the Dog moping that it's pretty bad. I think I like The Final Cut less though. The Endless River is also a contender, since it's literally just Division Bell b-sides (that album was far from great, but at least it had High Hopes)

Fastro's reviews are in really broken english and are fucking hysterical, and he's got good taste in prog.
