Just found out the same delivery services that have fucked up tremendously in the last few weeks will be responsible for shipping pic related. If they delay the delivery or it arrives scratched up I'll have to snap some necks.
Just bought a 7ender frontman 212r off craigslist for 100 shekels. Did I do good /gg/ ?
>>63755903
Just fucking cancel the order and buy a different Bass already. You've been posting about it for months now.
>>63755968
That's obviously a 7emder.
>>63755968
you bought a solid state amp, obviously you fucked up badly
>>63755972
>Just fucking cancel the order and buy a different Bass already
Why? I want this bass, I just happen to be an insufferable cunt and hate waiting.
>>63755903
Can't you sue them if they fuck up something ? I know you're supposed to open the product in front of the delivery guy and make sure everything is all right in my country but I don't know if it's the same everywhere.
>>63755972
>cancel a custom shop
good idea
>>63755968
You have quite a bit of volume and that's about it. For 100$ it's hard to get a good amp anyway
>>63756009
It's kinda sad seeing how much shit you've gone through for one guitar.
>>63756035
>how much shit you've gone through
That's just me though, every normal person would have ordered it and then simply waited patiently.
>>63756012
It's just me being paranoid as fuck, it'll probably be fine.
When I first installed this '62 fender AVRI neck pickup in my hss telecaster, the neck and middle were out of phase, so I switched the wires and the phase was fine. The problem I have now is that the notch position (neck/mid) isn't noise cancelling like I need it to be. In addition, when I touch the neck pickup, there is a really loud buzz sound. Is this because of how 62 teles were wired? Is there a grounding issue? How can I make it behave like the stock neck pickup?
>>63756106
put the old pickup back in
sorted for E's and whizz, nice one m8, job's a good un
>>63756106
>HSS telecaster
yuck
>>63756314
muh vintages
>>63756106
The pickup just isn't reverse wound/reverse polarity. There's no way of making if hum cancel.
You can check by holding a magnet near the pickups, if the replacement has the same polarity as the other pickups then it isn't RWRP and you can't get it to cancel hum no matter what you do
(unless you put the pickup in upside down)
>>63756341
>put the pickup in upside down
and rewind it in the opposite direction, obvs
>tfw you can make your dream guitar but you'll never be able to afford it
why even live
>>63756341
and the buzzing noise is because you reversed the wires to get it in phase, you need to ground the metal cover to kill the buzz but as it's connected the other way round you can't do that without connecting hot to ground
tl;dr - you fitted entirely the wrong pickup in your guitar
>>63756370
that's ugly as sin dude
Can anyone recommend a good tube amp in the 600-800 dollar range? I play stuff like smashing pumpkins, nirvana, ect
>>63756387
Could I run a wire from the cover to volume?
>>63756442
You could try it. Even without opening the guitar you can try running a wire from the cover the the control plate but if you've got the hot and ground reversed then the pickup will cut out.
Go try it now and report back.
>>63756470
Also, I tried touching all three with a magnet and only the neck didn't attract, not sure if that means anything
>>63756437
Sorry. Is this better, dad?

>>63756607

>>63756596
fair point
but the v you posted earlier is still disgusting, finish wise mostly
>>63756529
If the neck pickup really is reverse polarity and it's still out of phase then you can only try grounding the case. No idea what's going on there but I had phase problems when I installed a Seymour Duncan pickup in my 62 AVRI years ago. I think the original pickups were just weird, either the originals or the replacements just weren't wound the right way.
Either way, if you can't get it in phase with the hot and ground the right way round then it will never hum cancel.
>>63756616
everyone needs a Prophet visit
>>63756616
there's probably not going to be anything amazing or earth shattering happening with guitar again
the last real evolution (if you want to call it that) was shoegaze in the late 80s and early 90s. obviously there are still a bunch of really good guitar players now, but the only people who listen to them are mostly...guitarists.
guitar is still used all over music, so it's not going anywhere.
Where can I get a nice, deep, sparkly Old Candy Apple Red Guitar/Automobile aerosol spray?
Nothing I've seen matches up to the MIJ strat I saw with the finish, the american finishes are awful in comparison.
>>63756772
You can't just spray a guitar CAR. It's a metallic finish, you need to apply a metallic first coat then spray red over it.
>>63756817
I've seen metallic aerosol sprays though.
Is it an all-in-one can? Or is there no such thing and I've been reading it wrong?
Reranch tells me there are small aluminum particles in the metallic sprays

i just realized
guitar is fucking dead. for real.

Alright guitar senpaitachi, what just happened here. Brushed against the pictured stud while I was tuning and it flew off. It does not look like it broke off in the bushing threads, looks like the stud had always been that short.
Bought this guitar used and got a killer deal on it, haven't had to make any adjustments as the action has been pristine for a year now.
Where do I go from here? Replacement set of studs from Stew Mac? Also, has anyone tried installing an adjustable wraparound bridge on a Gibson Melody Maker? Might upgrade to a Badass-style bridge if it's worth it.

If it's real, it's been refinished. Can't really tell since you can do a poly finish as well as Epiphone does at home fairly easily.

what do you mean? how does guitar being out of fashion effect you?
were you playing guitar to try and pick up basic bitches?
were you going to start a band and become a rockstar?
what were you aiming to get out of guitar?

Yeah no, as for metal there's some mind blowing stuff that's still being released and I'm sure it's the same for a lot of genre.
>>63758014
I wouldn't say so, there's some crazy ass modern guitarists.
>>63756842
metallic sprays will do the job fine, but if the fender CAR is metallic primer, it'll look different. With a metallic spray paint you can expect it to have a brighter glitter effect, since some of the particles will be right on the surface and reflect more.
>>63757893
>>63757956

>>63758037
but bass is fodera anon
>>63758048
But anon, BJM is just a cheap rip off of early Verve with worse songwriting and singing and hyped in a capitalist way
Nothing weird or experimental about that
>>63758036
Then pretty much what >>63758048 said. You should have no problems putting an adjustable wraparound on it. They're not that expensive either.
>>63758092
Has anyone here tried a Fodera bass before? I'm legitimately curious if the pricepoint is somehow justified, like, what makes them cost that much more compared to a Marleaux, Human Base or Zon.
>>63758050
>I wouldn't say so, there's some crazy ass modern guitarists.
You're right, I should amend that I meant nobody has done this in a way that attracts any of the more mainstream interest that'll get people to see guitar as something worth getting into for modern music.
>>63758105
Even with the angled bridge on the reissue Melody Maker?
>>63758191
Measure it. If the dimensions line up you should be good.
>>63758153
I don't get it man. Just turn on the radio and there's guitar. If the argument is that it's played out, fine, but so is violin, flute, piano, etc. You may be bored of guitar, but that's your fault for only playing one instrument.
>>63757897
Kim Thayil is pretty rad
>>63758144
I actually know a guy endorsed by them who plays bass in the Dancing with the Stars band, among other stuff. It's worth it to a guy like him where he needs a super versatile instrument with a ton of different sound options (active to passive switching, different pickup tones, etc.) but I think they are way overpriced if you don't need all that
>>63757966
um... is there any music that is forward looking, innovative, not shackled to the past etc..... that doesnt FUCKING SUCK?
start making bleeps and bloops kid
>>63758219
>It's worth it to a guy like him where he needs a super versatile instrument with a ton of different sound options (active to passive switching, different pickup tones, etc.)
Get any boutique bass with 2 quad buckers and 3 billion switches for all kinds of sound combinations, that's at least as versatile and would only run you 3 or 4 grand instead of 6 to 13. The electronics inside a Fodera doesn't make up for that price point, I was thinking maybe the ergonomics or the build quality are so outstanding that it's somehow worth it?
>>63758285
>start making bleeps and bloops kid
Because 4/4 is going to help push music boundaries forward
>>63758095
they rip off every psych band lol especially spacemen 3
early verve was trying to be like a shoegazey spacemen 3 but did it way better, why not try being like them then?
>>63758050
>Tuning means fuckall.
kim could beat you in a fight irl
>>63758213
I think you're arguing against an argument that I'm not making honestly, I'm saying that it's been a while since there's been a spark that makes people interested in the idea of guitar, not that guitar is dead and is never coming back into vogue.
For the record playing guitar is still when I have the most fun.
>>63758314
yeah... it FUCKING SUCKS
>>63758057
I have no idea what the Fender CAR is, but its pretty subtle compared to other project metallic guitars I've seen, where people applied metallic flakes between the base coat and clear coat
WHY THE FUCK ARE PEDALS SO EXPENSIVE
SERIOUSLY CANT WAKE UP
>>63758297
Well the build quality on them is great, but it doesn't justify the price. But remember, the guy I mentioned is endorsed and he does get discounted prices, and even if he didn't, money isn't really a factor, he's been on some major tracks through the years going back a few decades as a session guy and is very well off. But for an everyday guy like you or me, I don't think the price is justified, even if they are extremely well built instruments
>>63758404
Build them yourself, something like a big muff or a woolly mammoth literally just you 30 bucks in parts and are easy to make.
>>63758329
>not Fripp and his superior New Standard Tuning
No but seriously I find most alternative tunings useless, save for overextended chords they don't have much use. And getting the right strings for it is a hassle.
I'd rather get a 7 or 8 strings for that purpose.
Slide is another story of course.
However the point I was getting to is that in the end, the tuning for a composition doesn't matter, you could play in AGEDFC or what ever bullshit you can pull out of your ass, if your music is not interesting, then no tuning might save it.
>>63758439
meh... i was being a dick.
thayil uses funny tunnings so he can play strange sounding music with one finger
>>63758405
I just find it fascinating that they don't really do anything different compared to other boutique manufacturers yet they can ask for twice or 4x the price somehow. I imagine that they're great instruments, but that huge gap in price doesn't seem to make any sense to me.
>>63758436
Easier said then done Anon. I might just waste my money on some clones.
>>6375819
>>63758494
>Easier said then done Anon
No, it's really quite simple.
>>63758494
>easier said than done
what, have you done it and think it's difficult? That'd be a first.
>>63758542
>>63758559
Dude Ive never attempted to make a pedal nor have the tools to pull such a procedure.
What I need knobs, wires, soldering iron, chasis?
Looking for my first amp. Got basically zero skill, need something to practice at home. Narrowed it down to a Marshall MG and an Orange Crush. Both are starter amps at around 100$ range, which is what I'm looking for. I'm seeing people both praise and shit on both of those. I'd appreciate any input on the matter.
Also, and this might sound like a retarded question so sorry beforehand if it is, is there any place where I could find info on what setups various guitarists use to get their sound? Like, what tunings or effects/pedals or anything else this or that guitarist uses. I'm asking because I'd love to be able to get the tone of a few bands that I like while using actual gear instead of having to resort to VSTs.
>>63758613
A perf board, all the components, a case, a soldering iron and wire. Yes. It's easy.
hi /gg/. How's your saturday?
Post your pick sizes, .73mm signing in.
>what turned you to your main pick size
>what do you think of those expensive brand picks (such as Chickenpick and Dragon's Heart)
>what's your worst pick experience?
>>63758770
I use a few different ones, mostly a dunlop 50mm or 75
I don't think it matters as much with picks, you can find decent ones for cheap and if they're not the greatest you'll probably get used to it after a while anyway
>>63758770
3mm
Because bass and everything else felt wrong. They don't sound as harsh and muting with a thick pick is easier.
Tried a variety pack thing and hated all of them. Also, my Trollfest pick which I got on a concert is shit because it's super thin.
>>63758770

It not being a flimsy, bendy piece of shit. And all dat tone, grip and control, man.
>what do you think of those expensive brand picks (such as Chickenpick and Dragon's Heart)
Overpriced shit for retards.
>what's your worst pick experience?
Having to play with any pick less than 2mm thick. One time all I had for a gig was a fucking expired credit card so I had to cut out a pick from it. Would've been better off playing with the knife instead.
>>63756370

Regular dunlop's are unplayable, I just can't do accurate picking with how rounded those edges are. My picking technique is pretty dumb.

How do you people do it? Unless it's a coin or an old button from your pants or something else like that, how do you go about with thin picks? Every time I've tried one they had the worst fucking sound ever upon hitting the strings. It sounded like one of those bikes that kids would put cards onto so it made a rattling noise when driven. Not to mention the absolute pain in the dick it is to accurately do sweeps or alt strumming.

I've got that amp and I really like it, it's great for the price and is pretty much as good as a tube amp unless you're getting into the extreme price range.
The drive channel is kind of weak but I doubt you bought a 7ender for the drive.
I've got a Boss St-2 that gives it a killer noisy sound, a lot of people don't like it but I can get some unique shoegaze tones out of it.
>>63759039
>sweeps
the reason being we don't all play nu-metal like you
its that simple, and they work perfectly fine for most things
>>63759039
I'm the one you replied to.
I personally don't do sweeps. I actually find alt strumming to be a whole lot easier with a thinner pick. I've played 1.14 before switching over to .73, and it seems a lot lighter to play now, which is always nice.
>>63759018
one of those cheap screw on capos. They work great. You might also get a third hand capo, I like mine and use it a lot. The one I have is a spider, a bit of plastic broke off and now it's a bit annoying to put on and off. So if there's another brand you can find I'd go for it. Also, get a slide. Maybe a glass one and a metal one.
>>63758966
Pic related is how easy some of those Pedals are. That's literally it, and you pay 300 dollars for it. Don't expect to be able to clone absolutely everything, but you can get a very good repertoire going for very little money.

>>63759184
zvex wooly mammoth I guess
>>63758770
If I'm playing my normal shugazi or acoustic I use a Fender medium with the tip snipped down to a point, for practice or metal I use a Jazz III.
A friend of mine told me to get some fatass bass guitar picks and use them instead of my regular guitar picks. Said it should give me a heavier sound and make it easier to play individual notes.
Is he just fucking with me or is there something to that? I've just recently started so I really have very little idea about this.

Having this glorious motherfucker shipped to my place. What does /gg/ think of jaguars?
>>63759242
It's pretty different feeling. Somr players prefer it and others don't. As far as the tone goes, it's kinda silly to generalize light and heavy picks like that. The shape of a thicker pick affects the sound. If I were you I'd try out a bunch of picks. Notable heavy picks for bass: stubby triangles, big stubbies, tortex, nylon. All dunlop stuff. Try to get one of each size for the stubbies. As far as nylon goes a lot of sizes are good. They tend to have a bit of flex no matter what, which is nice.
>>63759333
Any decent Hardware/radioshack type store should have most of the stuff you need. There are specific stores that sell you the housings and switches, and most of them have resistors, perf boards and caps for normal prices so I just order everything from there. My store won't be of use to you because it's in Germany, but I'm 100% positive you can order that stuff no matter where you live.

that's pretty fucking funny. Looks like it's got long shaft potentiometers. Either that or you just pulled the knobs up. If it's a long shaft pot you can probably just put some washers between the pot and the control plate.

unless there's a screw on the side, they do pull off. It's just hard to do. Don't worry about forcing it, there's nothing you can break. There's a chance the previous owner put on some glue because they were falling off, which would be unfortunate.

How exactly did your playing turn to shit within one week? You didn't suddenly forget all the scales, chords and everything you learned the past few years, it's usually just muscle memory and dexterity that take a big hit. And that can be minimized by doing basic exercises and noodling around every day if you don't have time or motivation for proper practice.

It's been years since I played a BD-2 but I think they're quite different. The Mayflower is the most transparent OD I've played. You can always hear a some of your clean tone underneath the saturation, some people hate that. I also think the Mayflower can sound lifeless or even muddy if you don't bump the Treble a bit. It's also kind of low gain.
The BD-2 is much less transparent and definitely has a personality of its own. It's grittier and bassier, I think it's apples and oranges compared to the Mayflower. Personally I'm not a big fan of the BD-2.

They're next level. They create a new set of sounds which bring with them new sets of dissonance or harmony aka problems.
The guys who know what they're doing sound very exotic or medieval. There's a nu metal band that would normally be boring but gets a really chainsaw like sound out of microtones. Most of the metal players using these are abysmal however. Even the creator you posted has songs that are exceptional and others that flat out don't work.

30W+ in general. but it depends, tube amps are louder so you can get away with less. solid state i would say you want to look around the 30w range.
if you want an actual PA look at pyle audio. those aren't good for taking guitars directly (need a preamp first) but they can take a keyboard's line-out directly.

I have no experience with barre chords yet so I dunno what the secret is. I can get the E, A, and D strings to sound fine (albeit with some discomfort), but I can't seem to not mute the G string. Any tips?
>>63763887
yeah that works. i mean, the mic would sound better if it was better impedance-matched but it still works. going the other way (high Ω output to low Ω input) doesn't really work at all, but going from the mic to the amp is fine. you wanna get 30W+ for sure, and even that's gonna be ok for rehearsing but not filling any big spaces/audience areas

I've been lurking craigslist for a 3 piece set. I don't plan on going to far with drums so snare+floor tom+kick should be good enough and quicker to learn. Not a very popular configuration though.
Been looking for a nice vibrato, and also, something special for lo fi tones.
Of course Chase Bliss is much more versatile (and expensive), but I wonder if the difference is too much.

>>Robin Trower – Bridge of Sighs (1974)
>“Whenever I want to play better, I just imagine that Robin Trower is listening. I picture him standing at the mixing board and thinking, ‘Oh, this is dreadful.’ And then I’d have quit widdly-ing and start playing phrases that mean something, just so he won’t leave.
>Bridge of Sighs is a whole album of phrases that mean something. Robin is sometimes accused of sounding too much like Jimi Hendrix. Since I’m a Hendrix fan, I enjoy any similarities, but to my ears Robin has carved out something that is completely his own. Plus he’s still making records and playing shows. Go see him and hear what vibrato is supposed to be. Every time Robin Trower bends a note, 1,000 kids with wanky vibrato who are trying out guitars at Guitar Center mysteriously vanish.”

>>Pat Travers – Go For What You Know (1979)
>Pat Travers and Pat Thrall, for a brief time, were the coolest dual-guitar team rock has known. This album captures their amazing solo trade-offs, soaring harmonies and super-tight funk-rock rhythm arrangements, all with the energy of a live show and whatever self-medication was available at the time. ‘Snortin’ whiskey and drinkin’ cocaine’ was a lyric from their hit on the studio record that followed.
>“This kind of band just doesn’t exist anymore – yes, I’m getting nostalgic. You can hear the massive amounts of rehearsal that went into their playing – they’re both so tight. You can hear their love of music from the broad array of styles that they draw from. You can also hear the depth of their musicianship. There’s no nerdiness, except for that lyric about the ‘Irish Setter, settin’ all the time.’
>“And there’s no hint of scale practice or academia. It’s all rock and anger, but with a nice dose of sophistication. The album is also drummer Tommy Aldridge’s best work.”

>(In a low, menacing voice) “’Ladies and Gentleman… Will you please welcome… Frank Marino… and MaHOOOOOOOgany Rush...’ BOOM!
>“This album is another example of superior shred being produced before ‘shred’ was a musical term. Frank Marino plays blindingly fast guitar with a tone that sounds like it will form a new indestructible metal alloy – once it cools. Only it stays molten for the whole record.
>“Frank is another victim of Hendrix-clone accusations. He does cover Purple Haze, and he also does Johnny B. Goode, which Hendrix covered, but to my ear, Frank’s playing and tones have a flavour and intensity that are unique to him.

>“This album is just unfair to everyone. Eddie’s innate musical genius ears, combined with the athletic prowess he got from eight-hours-a-day bedroom practicing, along with an indestructible rhythmic groove developed from jamming with his brother, results in a record of non-stop jaw-dropping awesomeness.
>“Nobody knew what to do when this album came out. Imitation was fun but futile. The best thing to do was just go see the live show – to laugh, scream and join the party. And don’t forget David Lee Roth lines like, ‘Goddamn it, baby. I ain’t lyin’ to ya. I’m only gonna tell you one ti-ii-ime… AHHHHHHHH YAAAAAHHHH!’
>“If we guitarists could just get our Variacs on the right setting, we could finally all get Eddie’s mythical tone. Pheeeeeshh, it ain’t the gear! I am starting to notice a pattern here, that many of the best rock musicians had fathers who played jazz clarinet. Wanna sound like Eddie? Better start digging Artie Shaw. ‘Bop na na shoobie doo-wah!’ Seriously, I’m way into the clarinet these days. Suddenly, all of those Woody Allen movie intros sound way more cookin’.”

>“My mom was cool enough to take me to see The Song Remains the Same at a midnight showing. I was surprised at how boring the jams were and how few of the songs I knew. But I bought the soundtrack album anyway, and it grew on me. And grew. And grew. Until I could follow every Jimmy Page riff, solo, violin-bow howl, Theremin scream, and wah-wah move… all performed while pouting, duck-walking and strutting around Madison Square Garden, with a Les Paul slung low and pants worn unusually high to maximise the effect – a trick I didn’t work out until years later and am still hesitant to imitate.
>“The boredom was gone. This was the best air-guitar workout imaginable! Jimmy had one other trick up his sleeve that put him far beyond his Yardbirds alumni. That trick?... Forming a rock band with Robert Plant, John Paul Jones and John Bonham. It took decades for my body to feel old and tired enough where I could begin to appreciate the low-energy goodness of the Clapton records that came out around the same time, or the singerless guitar fusion of Jeff Beck. As Robert Plant scats in ‘Whole Lotta Love,’ “He’s got to Boogie! He’s got to Boogie! Boogie! Boo-boo boo-boo baa-baa baa-waa-waa… BOOGIE!’ Ahh, have mercy.”

You own all of Gilbert's top five guitar albums, right /gg/?
Friend is selling his JEM for 850, seriously considering buying it off him, but i fucking hate the monkey grip.

>tfw u will never be able to cover eddies guitar playing
>>63765106
I have Bridge on vinyl and a VH cd somewhere.

Look into the Strymon Mobius, it'll do that and so much more. So it's actually worth the expensive price.

Are you sure it's legit? Don't be like that guy that bought the Gibson Switchmaster.
>spend a day make a cover on drums and guitar
>send to someone
>says its terrible and i suck at guitar
>havent played in 3 weeks
>>63765196
Wow, sounds beautiful. I still think Chase Bliss sounds warmer though, Strymon sounds a little cripsy.
Also, I already have an El Capistan and Big Sky. Don't really want to stick to one brand.
Thanks though, I was unaware of this pedal sound.
>>63765286
>not practicing sure will make me do it better!
>>63765214
its the 555 white btw not the 7v, wrong pic
>>63765057
hmmmmmm...find a good midi file and import that into guitarpro/powertab? The automatic fingerings aren't too bad of a place to start off.
Looks like a beauty dude

>tfw it used to be mine btw and i gave my set to him
you guys that use metal picks
doesn't it fuck with your strings? i tried playing with a quarter and the sound was great but it was really wearing away at my strings
>>63765740
quarters are abrasive broski. you aren't sposta use abrasive stuff
>pic sorta related, an abrasive dime
>>63765768
wtf why can you use 6 pence but not quarters
>>63765154
I want to buy it off him.
Can you get me in contact with him?
>>63765886
well i'm not united kingdish but it looks like the sixpents has a smooth edge and not all those knurled ridges. i'm guessing that has a lot to do with it.
also, who says it's good to use sixpents coin anyway? is there any credibility here?
>>63765934
>who says it's good to use sixpents coin anyway?
Brian May.
>>63765934
Brian May from Queen says so. Take that as you will.
The relief in my neck is in specs, so is the action. But it still feels too high for my liking.
I want to lower the action, but I'm already getting fret buzz on a few frets of the lower string. If I lower the saddles to lower the action, won't I have to adjust the truss rod?
Or do I adjust the truss rod first and lower the saddles after? Not sure what order to do this stuff in
>>63765974
>>63765983
well the sixpence looks smooth on the edge. also brian may is something of a savant and the rules of nature we all live by don't necessarily apply to him.
Yo, dumbasses, it depends on the kind of metal used on the strings and the coin.
A harder metal/alloy will wear down a softer one. If the coin uses a softer alloy than the strings, then the strings will be wearing down the coin, not the opposite.
The alloy in the coin Brian May uses is softer than his strings so the coin gets damaged and sheds, not the strings.
>>63765996
i always just start over. if it's a bolt on neck, i take it off the guitar. then i get it straight as i can and check to make sure the frets are level. i'll level any high ones. then when i put it back on, the string tension puts as much relief in the neck as i like. then i adjust the height to where i can use it and finally intonate
if i don't do it in order it gets all fucked up
>>63766047
quarters are harder than 6 pence?
what american coins are suitable for picks?
>>63766082
golden dollar coins
>>63766082
>quarters are harder than 6 pence?
I have no idea what is the exact alloy composition on either but if May uses a 6-pence, it's obviously because is softer than the kind of strings he uses, which I also don't know which are. I'm just telling the 6th grade level of physics you should know behind it.

Also, here's Brian May himself telling you this.

>they don't hurt the strings because this is softer metal than steel, this is like nickel-silver
Who /brutal/ here?
>>63766684
Jesus. Why mate?
>>63766612
I really want to like this but the edges are too much
>>63766222
Also, just to definitely rest this story, did some more research.
>May uses Optima Gold strings, which are gold plated steel strings, no information on the kind of steel is said
>From the video and pic related, he uses sixpences from 1957~1961
According to wikipedia, these are the last generation of sixpences and are actually made of copper-nickel (cupronickel), not silver-nickel as May stated: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sixpence_(British_coin)
>Though there's no info on the actual hardness or exact alloy, copper is one of the softest metals that exist
The chart on several cupronickel alloys and steel in the Vickers hardness test easily shows how in general cupronickel will be much softer than any decent steel.
>>63766715
I don't blame you. Some people just aren't /brutal/ enough to dig it
>>63766733
Uploaded wrong pic.
>>63766704
Because 9 wasn't enough anymore.
>>63766612
what even is that?
>>63766733
sweet. i got a cupronickel brazilian real, gonna use that
>haven't even been motivated to set up my guitar rack and shit since I got back 6 weeks ago
ugh.
>>63766684
For what purpose?
>>63766222
>tfw no badger on your guitar
Picked up a dirty, rusty 2007 Bullet for a first guitar, and am looking through basic mods and deep-cleaning while I wait for an amp.
two questions:
-Can I find new pickguard screws by just taking one to a hardware store, or are they some proprietary shit?
-If shielding a strat's cavity and pickguard, and adding a direct ground instead of looping haphazardly between components reduces noise and increases performance noticeably, why doesn't Fender/Squier spend the extra few dollars per guitar on doing it from the factory? Is it not as good as it sounds? Is "the strat sound" unshielded and noisy?

I don't think that's entirely true, anon

not him but some people just don't do well with negative motivation. I know personally I feel motivated to play when somebody says something good about my playing, though it kinda undermines that if I happen to be playing something I learned in my first year of playing.
