Bonus pic cause why not.

Another custom shop guitar.

Anyway, there were 20 people taking the tour so it's a relatively small group. The tour guide uses some radio transmitter thing so you can hear him talk from the headphones that they give to you at the beginning of the tour.

Most of the tourgoers are bongs, I think there were a couple of French people too. I went alone and was the only asian guy in the group (also, I think I was the only American in the group since everybody else seemed to have euro accents).

I also learned bongs call guitar cables "lead"

Okay, I have no idea if it's a dumb question, I just almost always see people playing with a pick and it makes me wonder if it's even possible to play on the same level without one
>>
>>63740958
No problem Donald.
>>
>>63740854
Sure. You can pluck with your fingertips like normal for a rounder tone or pinch your index finger and thumb together to pick with your fingernails for a sharper tone. Obviously it makes alternate picking and shred type stuff more difficult, but it can still be done. You don't have to base your lead style on shreddy stuff anyway
>>
>>63740997
Idk, it's like, trying to shoot a bow without a Tab release, or catch a baseball without a glove. Playing a guitar without a pick is handicapping yourself
>>
>>63741071
I think it can be one at a professional level, but it certainly caters to style of music and playing.

The New World series is made in China I think...Looks like a good guitar, probably in the same quality as anything else in that price range. Only you can tell if you like the sound though.

>>

I wouldn't like a guitar that had Bieber Fever or any other non-traditional inlays.

But if I found a Justin Bieber guitar that I liked I wouldn't let it go just because it had marketing attached to Justin Bieber.

How old are you? There's certain characteristic of a relic guitar. If you're 16 years old, I don't expect you to comprehend. When you're 38 years old, they're a lot more appealing, since guitars really take on the image of the player.

Any fret buzz when you play notes? For now, and for at least a year, you should care about your playing skills as number 1, top priority. When you start caring about tone, you start looking at gear, and it's an incurable sickness and you end up like the rest of us.

you might as well check your intonation, just takes a few minutes. Don't worry about your pickups until you know what you want. There's no such thing as bad pickups unless they're microphonic. There's only pickups you like and pickups you don't like. Until you know what you like you're throwing your money away.

These kind of signature guitars are fine really.

ESP has the whole fucking F series, which is just "cool shape with extra edges just because", while Jackson only has their V and RR and Ibanez doesn't really have anything pointy (except maybe the RG?)
However, last time I went to a metal fest, the ones I had seen the most were jacksons, they were absolutely everwhere. There were some Deans too, and maybe a couple Ibanez. Stoner scene was basically LP Central though.
Surprisingly no Schecter, despite seeing a Jazzmaster.
>>

>>
>>63743278

Well this one was $200 on a used Tom Delonge body. I think I paid $280 on the neck but it's MIA. I got the pickguard loaded through Twilight Guitars for $200. But I just bought a MIM off a local pot head for $250. I generally stay away from eBay for the most part. I usually see someone offering a used 7 year old MIA Standard for something like $1000 and tell them I'll do $500-600 if they can't sell it assuming good condition because they go in the local shop for $800. They usually come around within 3 weeks.

If it has to be now, it will cost more. Period. If you can stand to wait, you can do it cheap.

All that being said, my latest MIM is every bit as good as my MIAs. Better in some regards. It just depends on the guitar. Play them before you buy and get the one that speaks to you.

$1000 is too much for any production guitar if you don't factor in the headstock. Guitars just simply aren't that expensive to produce anymore.

Not that these are unfair prices, though that is often the case, but definitely poor production choices if a guitar with no stand out features runs at that price.

I heard good things about that model but they have those stupid nonadjustable wrap around tailpieces just for looks. >>
>>63747987
this, especially with older ones that are in good condition still

and even if its a new one you still have to factor in the labor, most higher end guitars are made by actual people instead of machines so they're definitely gonna be better than a chinese factory made rondo

There's no such thing as robot building guitars. The most automation you can have is CNC, which really just rough cuts the shape and saves some time and adds some consistency to the production. Accounting for everything else, this barely means anything in the production unless you're running a truly high scale where every minute gain in production counts.

All guitars in the world are still handmade.

>>
>>63747987
Other instruments are way harder to manufacture. And the ones that aren't more expensive to produce, aren't as expensive. Sure a cello is more expensive than a guitar. There's nothing difficult to understand about that.

Don't try to convince other people to waste their money just because you fell for it.
>>
>>63748069
Ah I just assumed factory made meant totally made by machines. I guess that makes sense, especially for the electronics and everything. But even then you can't deny that something like an american strat or jazzmaster made now would be better than a rondo copy
>>
>>63748069

>>
>>63748120
I'm at your side. $1000 is very cheap or at least reasonable for a high quality instrument if you have ever done any amount of woodworking in your life. Finishing a guitar alone with high quality is a process that literally takes dozens of hours.

You want to have an idea of how hard, time consuming and expensive it is to build an electric guitar with a high standard of quality? Check Jasom Beam building a Clapton-inspired 335 copy through 51 30+ minute-long videos that took one exactly one year to finish.

Anyone saying that $1000 is too much for a high quality guitar - production/factory made or not - is a moron who's never pickup up a chisel in his life. There's a lot more to it.

>>63748368
They're my favorite strat pickups, so I'd say so. Only weakness in my opinion is the fact that the middle pickup isn't reverse polarity, so no noise-cancelling in position 2 and 4 (all three are actually all the same pickup, doesn't even matter in which position you install them).

That being said, they sound godly. They have a very Dire Straits vibe to them but also nail that surf rock tone perfectly. They're very low output but being Alnico 2s, you can raise them a lot and that's where they shine. You don't lose as much volume that way and they gain some extra needed strength. Mine truly shines with a 6db booster/preamp, though.

Another downside by some is that the staggered poles can make some strings louder than others depending on your scale length (they were originally designed for 7.25") and action, but they're perfect on my 9.5" strat.

They simply sound like a great iconic strat should.
>>
>>63748368

I just bought a classic vibe from guitar center, and noticed it had to be set up, and those assfucks charged me 45 dollars and told me to come in next week after the fact.

Me being the beta cuck that I am just agreed to it and walk out of the store, I had never been in a guitar store before and was intimidated, I only started playing 6 months ago.

Was kind of excited to go home and play since Ive been using a shitty 99 dollar starcaster garbage that buzzes and shit.

Should of just took it to some local mom and pop joint who would of probably just set it up right in front of me for a half hour and charged me the same.
