it happens to alot of people, really. and the fact that they're associated with "cali" just makes it worse. But I don't knock on the music. If someone starts smoking pot and suddenly listens to only reggae its probably because they're basic as hell.
DESU sublime only had a handful of hits. Slightly stoopid is way better in comparison. Its just that the lead singer died and because Sublime essentially pioneered that genre, nobody will ever forget them.

I'd even rate Bloc Party as more interesting. Imagine if the "alternative" rock bands today took after the almost prog-like dance music Bloc Party were pushing forward, even in their less acclaimed records. Instead, everyone adopted the empty-headed quirk of Vampire Weekend, while superficially adding in 80s flair to create a market saturated with dance-rock bands doing their worst Chris Martin impressions over minimalist guitar and pounding synth. And quirk. So much fucking quirk.
Fuck, I really like Contra, and MVotC was incredibly good, but I wish they never became famous.
