Why are they so based and when the fuck is their new album coming out?
Why does so much metal try so hard to be edgy? It's one thing to have opinions that some people find offensive (whether they be far right or far left) but there seems to be this tradition in metal of trying to out-edge everyone else.

Am I retarded for realising after all those years, that even though I like Nocturnus and what Death became, Gorguts, Suffocation etc. but realistically it's the blunt stuff I will always come back to. Simple riffing, easy and preferably catchy melodies, I don't mind monotonous shit.

Compared to Evile, most of the thrash I like either tears ass harder (e.g. Dark Angel) or is more prog-structured and melodic (Metallica, Megadeth). This is kind of middle-of-the-road and it's just not my thing.

I guess I never really payed attention, but are bass drum vacant blast beats really that common in deathcore? I've heard some fast and brief angular snare blasts that are perpendicular to the rhythm that are bassdrum-less in some grind; but I can't recall listening to full blasting passages without bass drums. Anyone got a clear-cut example?

Brief reminder that power metal is the only trve metal genre left, everything else has been infused with punk, post, experimental or atmospheric memes and cannot be considered pure metal anymore. This also makes Japan the trvest country because power metal thrives there.

Coroner is fucking awesome and those two albums are their best releases. Their other stuff is worth a spin too though. RIP and Punishment For Decadent are less refined than those albums, but definitely still on the more technical side. No More Color is imo where they truly found their progressive thrash sound and the closest of their releases to Mental Vortex, though it's definitely thrashier and still in standard tuning.
Pretty much nothing else they did sounds like Grin, except for the new tunes on their self-titled compilation.

I know, senpai. I'm not arguing power metal is superior but I was just thinking about how in modern times, nearly every metal genre has or borrows from outside influences. The only modern metal genre I can think of that doesn't really draw from outside of metal is power metal, which practically makes it the trvest metal subgenre, even if it isn't the best.
