I don't know why it took 2 years but 4de is finally shipping pre-orders now.
The only place that currently lists some 4de as "in stock" is Amazon, every other vendor currently has them listed as "pre-order" with TBD shipping date.

I believe the 4DE Fluttershy is starting to ship, so at 25 bucks that's probably the best deal on a good one. They will eventually get around to Trixie but that could be a while so if arrogant blue unicorns are your thing you'd have to look elsewhere.

This thread seems to have taken off. Seems like a LOT of people were waiting for an OP. Minky Botique emailed me back saying they fixed my order of extra yellow but the invoice doesn't show any change. So I guess we'll see if I get an extra yard. Are there any ponies that use a lot of yellow? Might just make an OC or something if not.

In other news: Since I can't work on my cello due to lack of thread, I started on my Octi beanie. I have NO idea if the pattern is going to work. As best as I can tell it should but I'm having difficulty visualizing the leg/hip region. Got all the pieces cut out. Not looking forward to the cutiemark again. It's such a massive pain in the ass. I think I'd almost be better off just satin stitching a treble clef instead of trying to cut out a tiny piece of satin. Especially since it kept ripping in places last time when sewing.

Oh dear god no. I made a shitty Lyra where the mane only came to like the top of the head and it looked retarded. The eyes were done with a sewing machine attempting embroidery without stabilizer. All in all it was just a horrible mess but I learned a lot. Gave it to my youngest niece for her birthday a while back. The lewd Lyra I have I kind of want to seam rip the lewd off so I can display it.. That would be relatively easy to do.
Anyone else pre-order 4DE plushies through Toywiz? My order has been stuck in pre-shipment for nearly two weeks now. Customer service told me they sent the shipping label to 4DE and it would ship from the 4DE warehouse, but 11 days seems like there should have been some movement?

The lyra literally just has a tube of blue fleece sewn in. Two reasons I want to get rid of it though.. One because it'd be nice to put on the shelf, two becausestained fabric is really hard to explain if someone sees it.I would like to make another Lyra eventually out of minky since these ones are fleece. There are a couple different ways to do the CM. Embroidery, applique, or there is one Anon who did cut a hole for I think Nurse Redheart. But generally no you don't cut out a hole unless you're using that Anon's specific method. Look up a guide on applique or embroidery.

Really? Huh. There might be a certain way to do it that doesn't melt the fabric. I just avoid it. Although I have some nice embroidery iron-on patches that I've had for over a year now and never used. I'm thinking they're probably too small but if not it would be really nice to use them on my ls Rainbow. I'm just scared I'll screw up an entire body piece and waste a patch.

The fabric is less than $100, thread and everything else less than $50. To hit $400 that would be a $250 embroidery. I'm all for EP's quality but not for that price. That is a good question. I bought some white thread from Kmart to repair a wing root on a pegasus pony and found it was not thick enough, had to double it up. All I know is that I recently learned that polyester thread is way stronger than rayon thread.

Light fabrics I recommend air soluble markers.
Dark fabrics silver sharpie. Tailor chalk works fine and I've used it before, but it just takes forever, like you said.
Though lately I've been tracing nearly everything except for darts and besides jet black fabric using thin tip sharpie. My pattern has seam allowance, though, so even if it did show through a bit it ends up getting trimmed off during seam trimming later.
I stopped by the farm and fleet to pick up some water softener salt and peered down the toys isle as I walked by. There were 20" TY sparkle plushes for $19.99! They only had AJ, flutters, and Rarara though. I didn't like the wings on flutters, so I grabbed the last Rare and one of the two AJs. Here they are, coffee cup for scale.
