It may be pattern recognition that proves true, but then again, Twilight Sparkle still has no guarantees that the map can't not send any of them another time without making a full cycle, or that it can make bigger or smaller groups. I remember buying my dad a special bottle of rum two Christmases ago. Ever since the pace maker and finding out he had coeliac disease (no gluten) he had been cut off from beer. It was probably a bad idea, but he had wanted to try that rum for quite some time beforehand because he liked the musician backing it (Kenny Chesney, we're hicks). I looked into it and it was indeed gluten free.I had shown it to him, not wrapped and casually the day before like I had just found it and bought it for myself. When he irritably asked why I was showing it to him I explained it was for him. After a beat he had suddenly hugged me stronger than I thought he would. I could tell he was still stressed out about "no more beer" since that was a common thing for him. Since then we commonly drink together. He still drinks more than me and on days I don't, but it was a a tough time in his life and he thought he lost his relaxer.

That's what I have been saying for a while now, especially every time "muh Faust" is brought up. Her own episodes, i.e. the opener, would be shat on nowadays.
I also agree that the fandom itself is far from dead, /mlp/|MLPG took a significant hit though - and since a lot of people hardly venture outside of these it can easily give them a false impression.
If I want to, I can still visit a pony art stream at pretty much every time of the day, I could go and look up wubstep remixes of songs if I felt like it (they are still being made), the daily feed on DA is still so huge that I just delete everything where the thumbnail doesn't interest me right away and so on.

MLPG for the most part seems to still like the show. I keep an eye on the weekly episode stickies every new episode and even there with all the bitching and complaining the strawpolls seem to reflect a more moderate overall opinion than the thread's contents do. A lot of the time I've found reasonable people and opinions when I ask for specific things people like or hate. Problem is that it's drowned out by a whole lot of "it's shit" and similar posts. Anons that dislike the show currently or are riding any number of memes around disliking it are just really loud.
At least it's not the comics. Bad as those may be on average, it seems like there's no hope for them anymore. There's hardly any praise for any of them that can be seen over the criticism, which to be fair seems to be mostly deserved. Makes me afraid that even if good stuff were to start to come out it'll still be a problem since it'll probably have the small stuff blown out of proportion.
