Shin Ryukouoh finally makes the range mech an actual fucking range mech for once, that counts. But watch OG fuck that all up and make it Melee for no goddamn reason.
Also there's Great Goldran, who I don't think actually possesses ANY physical options outside of "punch". Which is something a lot of Braves had, Great Goldran's only special in that it doesn't have a sword/other finisher to get in the way.
Okay check this out:
We have the original, the main character, and he's a guy.
In his teenage years.
He has a strong sense of justice, too.
And at least one of his parents are dead.
He pilots a real, or a low-tier super, that works too.
But he has a subpilot, it's a girl.
She has a mysterious aura/past.
She's also the key to piloting the mech.
Oh, and she's the love interest as well.

But if you think about it, a surprising number of Supers don't actually have a particularly notable Melee outfit outside of whatever their finisher is and some derivative things for their finisher (like with Might Gaine, it has at least four or five range weapons, and its only melee options are straight melee and DORINKEN based).

BX is like the first SRW to be super fucking strict about what counts as Melee/Shooting, making most of Mazinger Z's moves Shooting. Even for some ranged "melee" moves like Rocket Punches and C-Funnels are fairly consistent in being categorized that way.

Mazinger's pretty much always been like that.
To take an example, in Alpha 1, Rust Hurricane, Photon Power Beam, Glacial Beam, Breast Fire, Daisharin Rocket Punch, the MAP Breast Fire... they're all Melee. The only Range moves are the Drill Missiles and the Missile Punch.

That Z3 version of Riot Wrench or whatever it's called kind of looks like a normal attack, to me. Gunleon just sort of hits the bad guy a few times in a static angle and then smacks him away.

Anbroun blew up tue Insalaum homeworld with one, but keeps making them because she's an asshole.
