***READ THE GUIDE***

For those new to gunpla/plamo or even just new to this thread; please read the guide. Please read it before asking questions as there is a chance it has already been answered there.
For those unfamiliar, "plamo" is a shortened form of "plastic model". If it's made of plastic, someone can probably help you here.
If you're new, you're gonna fuck up. Don't worry! If you're experienced, dont make the new people worry!
>Why won't anyone answer my question?
Try being specific, especially about your materials and process. Post pictures whenever possible; even if the kit/part looks bad, you are more likely to get help posting pictures.

I built a Dowadge maybe a decade back, if you mean the ones where there's no polycaps and articulation is shit and you have to glue the thing together. In many ways, I would feel unless you don't want to keep it at resin-kit tier and just never pose the thing (always in a static standing standby pose), it's fine enough after painting.

It sucked ass overall (especially the joints), but it was at least nice to cannibalize the beam cannon for an HG Rick Dom II and it's an old-ass kit so no complaining.
For the remaining Dowadge, I just stuffed a heat rod into its hand holes and it became a close-combat only MS at that point.

that guy explained it wrong. we try not to give snapshit any attention in the threads but whenever he makes his own thread, which has become a habit now, we make a different one as a little reminder to him that we all fucking hate him and hope he gets run over by a bus.

If two separate gunpla threads existing at the same time for a short while before the other one quickly dies bothers you so much as to go into full on assblasted mode like you are now, i suggest taking a break from this website.

Nub marks look fine. I can barely even see where they were! Sanding, like >>14276329 said is nicer, but knifing is faster. personally I prefer using the knife, and just sanding if it gets too extreme, all before top-coating that is!

Alright, slowly getting there, one bit at a time. God, I hate how the stickers look on the blue pieces. Half tempted to just remove them and call it a day, but they don't look half bad on the white parts. Red I have mixed feelings of though. Almost done with the RX-78, then it's time for the Zaku II! >A guy who tries to keep the general threads alive
is this nigga serious?

The threads were more "alive" and had a lot more talented builders, or at least talented builders that shared their work before he came along, don't make it seem as though there was some decline in interest of gunpla on /m/ and then snapshit the savior came along to help stimulate positive discussion about gunpla. The gpg threads were really popular and gained a consistent place on this board due to a lot of new people getting into gunpla because of season 1 of build fighters. This was way before you and snapshit appeared on the scene.

>he actually contributes to threads
this nigga cannot be serious.

Posting a poorly constructed nubby OOB builds that no one wants to see over and over is not contributing, it's shitposting. Sometimes it's a different kit, but all in all it's the same shit. And if you don't like the "circle jerk" so badly, why don't you and him fuck off back to to the IRC you came from making fanart of you guys hugging in the rain.

>tries to keep the general threads alive... make an extra thread just to spite him
/m/ is a relatively slow board, so out of courtesy the new threads are usually made when the old one is on page 9 or 10. Making it earlier (which snapfit usually does) is unnecessary and frowned upon since the gunpla threads move so much faster than the rest of the board. It is kinda stupid to make a new thread, before snapfit, the valvrave fag would always make a new thread early, and we did the same thing.

>assume that the actual shitposter spammer is him, despite the fact that he actually contributes to threads
The post you responded to addresses both of these

> who keep uploading sideways pictures of their kits. Something that takes seconds in mspaint to fix.
The rotation data can be stored in the exif tags of a jpeg file, which 4chan strips to reduce file size. This means that it may appear to be the correct orientation before upload, but is sideways afterwards.

Get popsicle sticks, wet and dry use sand paper. Cut sandpaper into strips near size of stick and glue flat as any bumps or ridges in paper unevenly sand. This is a cheap customizable way for flat surfaces. I cut strips of sanding sponges for rounded surfaces only. If it's like the old HGUC zaku 2 I make the parts easy to separate smush together then sand so the edges don't become uneven.

Now depending on the thing I'm sanding I usually start at 400 grit, go to 600, 800 and 1000 then wipe with cloth. If it's heavy remodeling which is rare I'll go lower then 400 first. I personally avoid using sandpaper without a stick because it can make it hard to stay even or level. Remember it's easier to remove then it is to replace.

On a side note use decent lighting or you may sand slightly off. I have a swinging clamp on desk lamp that I can move out of the way if not using.

Okay, so I've got a question for you guys. Was looking at some custom re/100 Nightingale builds, and I noticed that a lot of them have fuel tanks like pic related with tapered ends. My question is, how are people making those? Are they sourcing them from another kit I don't know about?

Usually it's built from pen casings for the fuel tanks

They're terrible, the only sandpaper I have is all above 2000 grit. Gonna pick up some 400-800 grit sticks before I panel line. Also gonna invest in some sharp nippers instead of these shitty Hobby Lobby ones.

I'm looking to experiment with some different sandpaper grits. I started with 400 and 1000, is there a 'universal' grits that everyone uses? Or do you choose grits depending on the situation?
>>
>>14277763
The latter. Do you mean removing nubs? I use 600 after either using (lightly) a metal file or a hobby knife to get most of the nub.
>>
I cut the piece off the runner as close to the piece as possible.

I use an Exacto knife to trim off any excess, then a 300 grit sanding stick to remove the mark.

Yet on the piece where the nub used to be, there is now a white dot.

How get rid of white dot?
>>
>>14277797
prime, check if there is any mark left if so sand more prime again if no marks/bumps/indication then paint

mark gone :)
>>
>>14277797
Don't cut as close as possible to the piece, cut a bit further. The white dot is a stress mark because plastic is composed of fibers. When you cut the runner you mostly compress it before the cut is actually made, and cutting close means the piece will be stressed as well.

Hey, what MG would look good alongside Punished Exia, Double X, Tallgeese and Nu? I'm leaning towards the Stein as I ultimately want to have an odd number of MGs for display etc., etc.

Anyways, shill me an MG that would look nice with those. Actually as it happens, I think Exia is already the most out of place.
>>
>>14277827
Turn A or Turn X? You have a kit from different universes.

I'd say that or look for a red, black and white kit, since all but Exia have that scheme. Crossbones?

Crossbone Full Cloth might tie the group together a bit more, by virtue of also having a cape.

I have Ignition Mode Exia, and that requires read: came with 2 of them. I figured the 00 sets required 2 anyway, which is why they have you 2 in the green LED set. If the regular MG only needs 1, I might just get one for the fact of having a regular Exia and a repair Exia.

What about the MG 00, does it only need 2 for the GN drives, or does it need one in the torso for the eyes too?

>>14278074
We did watch the movie together a bunch, and he would always poke fun at me for crying for Andrei in it. It was the last Gundam series we saw together, and I think his death is what led or little sister to love Gunpla so much.

His last words to me before he died were the line Lockon keeps saying to Setsuna throughout season 2 and in the movie, probably because he knew it would stick to me like glue. "You can change, [Liz]. I couldn't, so you'll have to do it for me." still can't hear that line without almost getting a tear in my eyes.

I can still watch the series and movie, and I do every so often. It's fun to remember the good old days. It's just, now I can't watch the movie without breaking out in tears throughout the entire third act, or whenever Lockon says the line, it's why 00 means so much to me. I'll get that PG 00Russer one of these days, and I'll build it with my sister, for him!
>>
>>14278172

I actually have the NG 1/100 Dynames. It shouldn't be too dinged up so I could probably salvage it and repaint it. I should totally get a Cherudim and make a Gundam-bro squad! Might steal this idea for later!

>>
>>14277899
Simple inner frame, less separated outer armor parts. The origin kits seem to have more inner frame plastic and detail, then the parts arnt solid chunks the torso in the zaku 2 origin alone has more parts for the chest shoulder articulation. the front skirt is separated and it has a lot of spare parts from the other molds it uses. Hell the shoulder joint alone is a armature on both sides.

So part separation, amount of plastic, amount of clear plastic, colors, etc etc.
>>

>>
>>14278829
Of course it be redesigned slightly for origin but if you look at the original concept and what we have as a base frame right now its vary feasible. Note the way the legs go together the knee and calfs are separate armor from the rest of the leg. Swapping those parts is easily another part of the runner. The front skirt and back skirt unless altered for origin will need changed while the side skirt either swaps out or has the new armor slot over it with the pegs. The crotch will probably be two separate pieces The beam pikes mount on the skirt through a rack that can also attach to the peg.

The arm weapons just mount on the shield slots where as the shoulder armor would be new. The torso armor already is made to slot into the front of the chest and stomach armor so that is another easy swapped part. The back pack is all new unless the redesign it. and the head everything but the visor would need altered but this has been done time and time again. The question is will it be pbandai or normal release if this is the plan. I mean look at the gouf prototype and origin gouf prototype they changed a bit on it for the origin design.

>I'm done with all the hate and negativity! I am going to singlehandedly change this board's culture to fit my own tastes!
Fuck off faggot. I hope you do quit building gunpla, you were never good enough to begin with. You have no influence here, and never will. Remember that.

I am pretty sure most of the >>14275927 replies and the ammunition replies are original work

btw take a look at that Astrea in >>14276069, I built that, it was so hilariously bad it was chosen for the next op pic. Then I laughed at my own incompetence and built the later two at some point. It's still bad by a lot of means but at least I ain't complaining cyberbullying on a mongolian throat singing image board.

>We offer tips as well as criticize, generally.

And in those posts he quoted, 'learn how to paint' is the only vaguely instructive critique there is.

The rest is 'git gud' or 'looks like shit'. Is a proper critique above you, or something?

Well, what do you want as a reply if the goddamn guide already covers how to paint? The guy with the Rozen Zulu got good advice in this very thread because it was a genuinely good first attempt.

It's ready, I think as of today.

About to place my order.

Airbrush noob here, got a pretty nice old double action aztek from a friend for free, now I need some kind of compressor. The thing is my dad has a pretty heavy duty 150 psi compressor for a nail gun (porter-cable brad nailer) so I was wondering if it's possible to use that thing for airbrushing, I know I'd need an adapter and that you ideally want to be doing airbrushing around 10-20 psi but I'm not sure the thing goes that low easily.

Yes.
>>
>>14279149
Wait, what purpose does it have being piss yellow? To detect chunks of it that get rekt?
>>
>>14279838
I'm not sure at all, but you'd need a water trap, a very fine psi regulator and something to convert from 1/4 to 1/8 inches. Talking out of half remembered things I've heard so don't take my word for it.

I think the psi is far too high to even start with anyway.

Indeed, while you still have a long way to go, you're showing improvement. Thin your paints, and be a bit more careful. Also WTF paints are you using anyways?

>>14279518
Not to mention, some of us don't have any new work to post, so we don't, but have posted their own stuff in the past. I'm also guessing you're new to 4chan if you're that caught up over some insults over the internet. It's what we do here.

all spray cans, grey is just the primer
>>
>>14279849
Yea it seemed a bit much... I'd kinda like to just buy a CO2 bottle as that would be silent cheapish (in the short term) so that I can use it in my room without waking anybody. Is it safe brushing acrylics indoors? I do have a mask and a ceiling vent.

>>14279873
Ever consider going back and stripping the paints, giving it a once over?
>>
>>14279880
nah I intend to keep it that way, reminder of the good ol' times
I'm just depressed as fuck and lost interest in fucking everything

Was working on a mask for a cosplay for a local weebfest coming up, and since I had some left over fabric from making the mesh mask portion, I decided to make a half assed cloak with what I got, and it turned out pretty decent I think. Will definitely remake this guy once I have the time, and get my hands on the Gyan Revive.

I mean what sort of Spray cans? That makes a huge difference.
