***READ THE GUIDE***

For those new to gunpla/plamo or even just new to this thread; please read the guide. Please read it before asking questions as there is a chance it has already been answered there.
For those unfamiliar, "plamo" is a shortened form of "plastic model". If it's made of plastic, someone can probably help you here.
If you're new, you're gonna fuck up. Don't worry! If you're experienced, dont make the new people worry!
>Why won't anyone answer my question?
Try being specific, especially about your materials and process. Post pictures whenever possible; even if the kit/part looks bad, you are more likely to get help posting pictures.

It's nothing, that's like spare change compared to the price of the orders I put in, where I'm already ready to put down ~150 for the order and ~40 for shipping.
Always go big sons, because then you won't need a new kit for MONTHS unless you lose control and build a backlog castle, in which case RIP

Sunrise really needs to market and localize more of its Gundam stuff. Star Wars might have gone downhill for a long time, but it's still largely known worldwide and its cheap plastic merchandise is pushed out the wazoo everywhere when a new movie is dumped out. The brand name is that big and invincible. The cash flow is just guaranteed.
Is Star Wars better because of its sales, regardless of the quality of the material? It could be arguable, though on that note I wish Bandai/Sunrise wouldn't cloister themselves so much. They need to get the brand name out there so dumb western gaijin like me can enjoy all the cool things they don't normally localize.

Quel is older and based on the Hazels. Custom is slightly newer and has different construction, closer to GM Type C. Even the slots for backpack are different, despite their similar look.
Quel like the Hazels has this stupid plastic-on-plastic arm rotation that wear easily. Custom has more traditional but much better peg-on-polycap design. And I'm not sure if the hands are better in Custom, as the Hazels and Quel hands are super shitty.

With gundam markers? It'll stick on, though you'll need some masking tape otherwise it'll get everywhere you don't want paint. Press the marker tip into a small tray, let the paint pool out a little, then use a small brush to paint the V symbol.

Though if you don't want to deal with that(or screw up tremendously like I did), you could file it off or paint the whole section.

>>
>>14285859
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q2mgOhLHoyk
>>
>>14285859
HG 1/144. It's old engineering, but it doesn't fall to pieces. Lots of surface details to paint. The chobam armor around the chest can be a little loose, but overall the biggest downsides are the default hands it comes with and the elbow joints. Not much for dynamic poses with the rifle due to the nature of the stock hands. I swapped out its hands for an HD set, which fit around the rifle handle really well, and gave a little more room to pose the gun with.

It's solid and you'll have plenty to work on with it, but if you're used to the engineering of newer kits it could be a bit of a letdown in terms of articulation.
>>

You do realize you're basically the anthony burch of /m/ right?
>>
>>14286974
There was a ZakuAurelius video where he referred to prime92 as "her".
>>
>>14286993
that isn't really proof since we can't assume that ZakuAurelius and prime92 have talked

I'm really starting to dislike ZakuAurelius' vids as of late though, they used to be pretty good and now its just run of the mill review after review which is a bit boring. Some of the videos of him doing things in Japan are a bit obnoxious too especially when he breaks rules and just shrugs it off.
>>
So I'm sanding down my nubs and I noticed how much plastic dust there is in the air. Should I wear some kind of face mask or something? Is it safe for my lungs to breath in all this plastic dust?
>>
>>14285728
Ahaha cannot deny that even a bit. Yes it quite dissapointing but, what the hell, its 2001 box i pick from garage sell.

And honestly, it look quite good, good detail and all. But yeah, the articulation is rather lacking, and the atm need alot of work to get it in the place. Eh not much loss for 15$ old kit.
>>
>>14287016
Use wet or dry sandpaper and put some water on it. That'll catch a lot of the dust.
>>
>>14287001
I get what you're saying but I don't think hes a bad reviewer. At least his reviews are pretty succinct and he doesn't ramble or mouthbreathe into the mic. What about the old videos is missing lately? I just subbed a few weeks ago.

The skateboarding "thuglife" thing by the 1:1 gundam was a little obnoxious but I can't pretend I wouldn't do it too.
I'm actually glad he went back into mandrake to film after the guy kicked him out, that would've been a boring video if he didn't and a lot of these nip shop owners don't let you film even if you ask for some dumb reason. They dont like free advertisement I guess.
>>
>>14286993
I think its just that most people call prime "her" but prime has never actually corrected anyone or confirmed or denied.
>>
>>14287021
His older stuff covered a lot more P-Bandai and he had interviews and more varied content than just reviews. I get people just want to watch kit reviews but its a little boring for me. I can only assume that most of the viewers are snapfitters who just want the coolest toys for their collection as opposed to hobbyists and model builders.
>>
>>14287020
I tried that, but I'm using those paper sandpapers glued onto Popsicle sticks. the water just made the paper really weak and it broke apart pretty fast. Did I use too much water? Now that I think about it, that's probably it.
>>
>>14287030
ahh I feel you. It kinda seems like he wants to just be prolific, I mean he puts out about 2 vids every day hes up to 600 vids plus in like 2 years and the out of box reviews are easy to crank out. idk maybe he'll go back to more interesting stuff but I think you're right judging from the comments a lot of people that watch him are brand new or casual.
>>
Sup gunpla general.
I'm someone who had a mildly popular gunpla channel about 5 years ago, it got taken down for copyright and I started a new channel that was gaining traction but then I took a 4 year hiatus from gunpla lol.

Anyway I want to revamp my channel and make it better and I'm wondering what do you guys look for when watching youtube gunpla oriented channels. What do you like from your favorite channels and what are your peeves that make you cringe/unsubscribe?
>>
>>14285788
I find a gold sharpie is much better for that small detail and is much easier than trying to paint it with a gundam marker

Hello Prime92.

I'm fairly certain that if it weren't for the fact that the Gundam franchise exists, I wouldn't be here. I speak for everyone when I say I didn't get into the hobby because of some teen using a voice modulator on youtube.

I'm like 95% done with a MG star build strike and I can say for certain it has the shittiest most problem ridden hip joints of any gundam model I've built.

Both hip connectors to the legs required modification just to be able to move, then one of the swiveling sockets they connect to on the waist section completely shattered when I first inserted the leg.

Holy shit this has been such a headache.

One of the dozens of shitty youtube reviewers is not almost single handedly responsible for making gunpla more popular in the US.

Credit for that goes to Bluefin making it easily available, holding the regional/national gbwc contests, getting it into hobbyshops, and working to get it into the barnes and noble chain. It also goes to fansubbers and eventually gundaminfo itself making subbed episodes available and getting them out quick and free, as well as sunrise in general making damn effective toy commercials.

If you can get a whole carton for about 40USD shipped, then they're well worth it. From experience, they've always come with all variations (including recolors).

Though they do tend to come up at Mandarake and Rakuten for a couple bucks each, so if you only really want certain designs from a set, you can go that route.
