***READ THE GUIDE***

For those new to gunpla/plamo or even just new to this thread; please read the guide. Please read it before asking questions as there is a chance it has already been answered there.
For those unfamiliar, "plamo" is a shortened form of "plastic model". If it's made of plastic, someone can probably help you here.
If you're new, you're gonna fuck up. Don't worry! If you're experienced, dont make the new people worry!
>Why won't anyone answer my question?
Try being specific, especially about your materials and process. Post pictures whenever possible; even if the kit/part looks bad, you are more likely to get help posting pictures.

>You can't separate the bits?

Sadly, no. In the kit, there are two single rifle bits, two single shield bits that can holster the rifle bits, and four paired (and closed) shield bits.

So, to get a full set of 14 individual rifle and shield bits for true "GN Indiscriminate Fire", you'd have to buy 7 copies of the kit or find 3rd party resin parts.

>>

Or just cast your own
>>
>>14206905
I'll get a pic later but it's a little more finicky compared to most Zaku 2.0s.

Wouldn't recommend it as a first MG or Zaku 2.0 but it's pretty good, the cannon only moves vertically and the rocket launchers don't have the best axis of movement.

It does look fine without paint but it does need panel lining more so than others.

Also comes in a p-bandai unicorn variant.
>>
>>14206969
True, true. I usually neglect to suggest that since most people don't have the time/skill/materials to perform part casting.

Anyone have a good link for sandpaper on Amazon? I'm a complete noob and don't know what I need for proper sanding
>>
>>14207099
You'll probably want to grab some 600 grit and 1000 grit like http://www.amazon.com/3M-32036-Imperial-Wetordry-9x11-Inch/dp/B0002MSY7M/ but really any sandpaper will do as long as you get the right grit. That being said, wet or dry sandpaper is nice because wet sandpaper will catch a lot of the dust. Also, you might want to try just going to the store and buying it there, as you'll get it sooner and it might be a bit cheaper. An automotive store will be your best bet for that as hardware stores generally only carry lower grit sandpaper.
>>
>>14207146
My local Home Depot carries 2000 grit imperial wet or dry. I just prefer my psychotically high grit polishing paper I got on amazon.
>>
>>14207146
The auto store I get mine from will even sell individual sheets for less than a dollar, which is great cause you rarely need much 500 grit compared to 1000-1500

I've never painted inner frames or joint parts after my first try, where the paint scraped off when the joint was moved. Even though the paint wasn't applied thickly that time.

Is there a way to avoid paint from getting scraped off when dealing with two surfaces that slide upon each other?
>>
I'm still pretty new to this but heres what i've found.
I used tamiya spray cans before, and they were really weak. even after leaving it alone for at least 24 hours it still scrapes even without a tight fit. After i switched to airbrushes and lacquer based paint, after only 2 hours the paint wouldnt scrape unless you really tried.
Where you live might affect the time needed, since i live in a place that is basically summer 24/7

I'm reposting this from the previous thread as I had not gotten a response, but I was doing some priming yesterday, I was about 1 1/2 - 2 hours in, and I kept getting a huge amount of condensation built up in the hose and brush. Anyone have suggestions on what to do? Do I need to go buy another moisture trap to put in line with the hose? Is there a certain brand I should be looking for? It's happened a few times and it's really frustrating. Suggestions?

>>
>>14207815

think about it!
The Phenex is 90% the same kit as the normal unicorn, so the gate marks are going to be the same and the unicorn isn't undergated
as for the shields they were originally a magazine extra, so asking for undergating on a freebie isn't ging to happen either.

Cement, sanding, and some paint will, otherwise the damage is gonna be pretty obvious no matter what.
Does pinning work for little things like this? I don't really know if this applies.
>>
>>14207923

are the cannon and mount from the old kit?
>>
>>14207964
it won't "Fix" it completely, but it can mask it a bit.

Be sure to leave the part for at least 48 hours after you cement it though.
>>
>>14207973
A V-fin or command horn isn't gonna support weight, so you shouldn't need to pin it when fixing it.
>>
>>14207964
Super glue.
>>
>>14207989
I was looking at it from form rather than function, as after the cement you're gonna need to clean the seam and then resharpen to suit the new shape.
I'd dread it considering it's completely possible you'd snap it again
>>
>>14207973
Yeah, but a damaged horn is better than a snapped horn, I suppose.

>>14207990
I didn't have any in the house, surprisingly, and I have a hobby store down the street, so I'd figure I'd just get some plastic cement from there as it works roughly the same, and I'd be able to use it in the future.
>>
>>14207964

Speaking of terrible hobbyshops, I decided to stop by this one I know yesterday while I was in the area.

So I went in and was browsing the selection, but here's the thing. Their stock isn't bad. It's how they will attempt to jew you at every turn.

Now this is part of a chain store, but their prices are usually several dollars higher than other stores in the chain for some reason.

Then there is stuff like pic related. You know those free catalogs and promotional stuff like the sticker decal sheets last year? The ones they get FOR FREE and are supposed to give away FOR FREE? They charge like 50 cents for each of them. These catalogs have only been marked down to free because they're out of date. The sticker decals are still shelf warming.

So I find a non-gundam thing I've been meaning to pick up that's actually a decent price and take it to the counter. It rings up for $6 more than the sticker price on a product that's only $15. They change it after I point it out, but this happened last time I was here too on a gunpla. And last time they gave me a campaign code card as an apology and told me that "normally you have to buy $50 in gundam stuff before we give one out", the contest had one week left and they still had hundreds of cards behind the counter. Again, they are the only store in the chain that does this.

So the final straw, the cashier and I stare blankly at each other for a while until I finally ask if I can get a bag as I had other places to go before getting back to my car. He tells me that due to some area tax thing they have to charge an extra 49 cents if you want a bag.

Oh, and a bunch of the models in their cases, both gundam and military, are missing pieces.

And that's why I almost never even bother with that place. It's a shame as the other stores in the chain are actually really nice, I have no idea what's up with that one specifically.

Maybe they have a reason for it but they ought to include the tax as part of the price on the price tags like every single other store does.

I've done both. They each have their pros and cons, but I think its much easier to do sub assemblies. Bandai means seam lines are almost invisible, but if there are any seams at all that I can see from the beginning of the build then assemble first, paint second

The former is good for Gunpla since it's a snap-fit and can easily be disassembled. If it's something like a tank or car kit where everything is glued together then I build in small assemblies (Wheel assemblies, turrets, etc) that match in color, paint them, and then attach pieces that are the other color.

>Do be infomative (be fairly thourgh with the kits features and articulation, knowlege about the whatever the kit is based one doesn't matter so much)
>Show the figure clearly as much as possible

and my don'ts are:
>Don't crack shitty jokes
>Don't breath too heavily (if it's audible, it's too heavy)
>Don't spend time looking at the box/unboxing the kit (If you must do an unboxing, make it a seperate video os people who arn't interested can skip it.)

Hey fine folk of /m/.

I've been taking a hiatus from gunpla for the last two years or so due to the rigors of full time classes and almost full time work.

Well I've now graduated and want to pick up where I left off. When I was last building, I was starting to venture into custom builds. My question is this: What's the best way to make attachment points or hardpoints from scratch? I've thought about cutting up small rods from runners and drilling corresponding holes but I think that would make them awkwardly big. Any suggestions?

Also, have things changed at all in regards to buying? HLJ and Gundamplanet seem a bit more expensive and are a lot more backordered than I remember. Also what's up with Builders Parts and Builders Weapons. Why are there such limited quantities? Does Bandai only make a finite amount in one run?

Anyways, glad to be back in the game.

Simply drilling a hole into the plastic should suffice, if you need it held more securely you can use a spare polycap or yes, drill a hole into some spare runner and secure it under the surface.

Buying online is still the superior choice for most people but recently shopping around at one of the B&N nearby has been doing me some good, they're well stocked and decently priced on recent kits (GBF/T, IBO, select MGs I saw an MG RX78 ORIGIN at one I frequent)
>>
>>14210039
if they were a reseller or if they just had spare money and wanted the kits they would go for it.
Hell, even if they wanted to buy the lot and then deal with selling them here on /m/ that would work.
That's what he's going for at any rate, he's still looking into/thinking about selling in smaller amounts. Hes prob just fishing for interest.

howdy /m/, i was wondering if anyone knew anything about how to strip colored plastic. i saw a hyaku shiki 2.0 mg that had all of it's coats stripped with bleach and it had clear plastic underneath. unfortunately, i found out later the runners for the hyaku shiki are actually primed and sprayed to achieve the gold plating. anyway, is there any way to pull colors off of clear plastic? i was thinking of doing the deactivate state for an hg uc unicorn destroy mode and didn't want to just paint the psycho frame gray.

So I took a short break from my current project and work on un-fucking Super Fumina's crazy face some more.

I took a file and some higher grit sand paper to it and removed those god awful chin and lips as well as overall smoothing it out a bit to make it look more like the series and lineart. It was actually a lot easier than I thought it would be. Only took like 10 minutes.

That combined with ditching the clear lenses and bring the eye's forward and she is looking a lot less like a creepy yandere android. Unfortunately bringing the eyes forward means removing the eyebrow piece and nothing i tried to work it in worked out. So my current plan is to take two tiny blobs of epoxy putty and push them through the gap from the inside like a pla-doh spaghetti machine so they protrude slightly and then paint them later. This will also fix the whole sunken in eyebrow thing.

Zombster is the only store I can nearly justify supporting but as of recent he hasn't done/stock any reason for me to do so.
Was thinking of starting my own store closer to the city or maybe a little north but have yet to do my market research and see if its viable.

Anyone here painted 00 Gundam's clear eyes before? should I just apply clear paint directly to its eyes or is there something I should do before applying it? (or even afterwards so it comes out visible)
