So it's a one-track-legged Scottish royal combining mech that is made up of a bunch of separate lion robots, with a scepter that spews radioactive green fire from the top in one hand, and the other hand is a gatling gun, and also its penis is hanging out beneath its kilt.

Can't speak for the other guy but I just use some GIMP selection tricks. (It looks like he's doing something similar, though I can't be sure if it's Photoshop).

Since you already drew Noriko, how about something like pic related for perspective practice? Imagine the scene in pic a few seconds later, with both of them looking down through the fence so they can see the robot in full, with the viewpoint kind of behind their heads so we can see all or most of the mecha.
This isn't a homework assignment so no need to do it if it's not your style. I just love soft-colored panoramic scenery porn.

Whoa, gunbuster had concept arts done in watercolours? I've only seen some of the machine weapons linearts so far. Preety cool.
And this is really up to my interests, cause ever since I saw Miyazaki's Mononoke I wanted to try puting watercolours over my sketches. I'll give it a try. Expect disaster.
However, I don't really have time this weekend. I got busy right after posting askig for requests. IRL always hits me whenever I try doing somehing like that.
