Actually, couldn't the various mythologies happen together with the Tower of Babel incident?
After all, there are similarities between different mythologies, and there are outright counterparts of pretty much the same "god" in some mythologies(Roman and greek, for example). Some of the "gods" existed before the Tower was built, and some were from after the Tower was destroyed.
The ones that existed before the Tower would have been known to people of various places if they were famous enough, thus ending up with multiple mythologies of the same individuals under different names(thanks to languages), then with the degrading of shit over time, the original legends became distorted due to damage to the records, translations, etc, they all became parts of different mythologies simultaneously.

I dreamed watching GX Hibiki, Tsubasa, and Chris jump back in time to just before the Zwei Wing concert. The three got thrown into Div. 2's main room (the one we see in S1) through a greenish portal surrounded by 00 Quanta's GN Sword Bits (similar to Gundam 00's movie; I have no idea why).
As soon as they regain their footing, Hibiki and Chris rush towards Ryoko and hug her. Hibiki tells her "You don't have to do this", and Chris follows up with a stuttering "We know you, and we l-love you, all the same" while blushing.
Meanwhile Tsubasa smiles and lets out a relieved smile, then walks toward the wide-eyed Kanade and her younger self. She says "I'll explain everything later" while ruffling Kanade's hair.
I'm not Kanadeanon. But this random dream is one of the happiest I've ever had.
