Answering seriously, Newtypeism only developed recently in the UC timeline because human space colonization is so new. We're watching in the series the first generations of space born and space raised people, and the context we see them in is war. From the time this generation reaches maturity (around the outbreak of the OYW) onward, there's nearly constant warfare and skirmishes. The people who are most comfortable and familiar with space-the ones most likely to become newtypes-by virtue of the war's needs, were forced into combat.

If that's the case, and you're not memeing (I've only watched First, Zeta, ZZ, and the Origin so far), then we only see newtypes after the emergence of the Minovsky reactor and see more of them in space because of the heavier use of Minovsky reactors in space than on Earth.

That said, most newtypes can't outright see far into the future, they just have strong intuitive flashes, and develop strong empathic and eventually mild telepathic traits. A newtype tennis star would likely just be wicked good at tennis.

One could argue the powers perhaps only fully blossom under heavy stress but my theory instantly break down because an olympic-level newtype athelete would presumably be under enough pressure to develop his powers properly.
