***READ THE GUIDE***

For those new to gunpla/plamo or even just new to this thread; please read the guide. Please read it before asking questions as there is a chance it has already been answered there.
For those unfamiliar, "plamo" is a shortened form of "plastic model". If it's made of plastic, someone can probably help you here.
If you're new, you're gonna fuck up. Don't worry! If you're experienced, don't make the new people worry!
>Why won't anyone answer my question?
Try being specific, especially about your materials and process. Post pictures whenever possible; even if the kit/part looks bad, you are more likely to get help posting pictures.

Nu verK.a
>Shitty wrists, so they tend to droop a lot
>Funnels don't hold together well nor stay open
>Invoke mode sometimes doesn't stay open
>Comes with a bitching stand
>Taller than most actual 1/100 Gundams
>Different shades of gray for panels
Most of the problems can be fixed easily, except for the funnel connectors so it's a solid model.
I don't own the Sazabi but I'd imagine its also a good kit and at that point it's up to personal preference.

get the 1/100 ZAKU if you want a ZAKU, its a big step up from the HG but still needs some paint work on the backpacks.

>>13681721
its pretty shit, they released it right before the HG Strike Remaster so its actually the shitty old HG from 2002 with a new set of backpacks, which are essentially molded in one color and slathered with stickers.

its a good amount of plastic for the price and its nice to have all three sets but everything about it feels antiquated compared to the HG RM and cheap compared to the RG which can do pretty much the same thing for 3x the price.

no prob. I'd recommend painting up the handles of the wing swords a similar color as well
>>
>>13681739
Well that's too bad.
>>
Bit of an odd question here:
Does anyone know the gauge of wiring used in the PG Wing Zero? For some shocking, unexplainable reason, Bandai's winning strategy of using screws to simultaneously strip and secure wires in place did not work out very well, and I find myself in need of replacing them. I'd like to use the same size so I can at least still use the channels already cut in the pieces to route them into place.
I'm also toying with the idea of leaving out the switch so that there is an opening I can use to run the wires out from, so that I can connect them to an external battery box that uses AA batteries that will last much longer under 24/7 use.
>>
>>13681660
cool the graze is on the 13th which is the only kit I want at the moment, apart from a cool car kit to get some good high-shine airbrushing practice with, hopefully Tamiya restocks soon as well otherwise its the fujimi te-71 corolla.

There are a few things I would like to inquire regarding kit customization.

1) What is the best method for adding LEDs to a 1/144 kit. I have a Kshatriya that I want to add LEDs into and run some Fiber optics for smaller points of light.

2) I'm looking for a challenging kit that doesn't break the bank but looks great, even without paint. I'm working my way towards getting a MG Sazabi, but I don't want to spend that money then not do the kit justice. I've done a MG RX-0 Unicorn so far with a flat white coat, as well as a repaint of a NG Freedom, so I have a vague understanding of things,

As an aside, I've been playing with glow paint on my 00 Raiser and on the psycho frame of the Unicorn. The paint itself is from GlowInc.com. Works well on the 00, considering that the grainy nature of the paint sort of mimics the GN particles, but the clear plastic of the psycho frame runners does not retain its color when the paint glows. I tested with one side only, one with a clear red coat over it, and a clear red coat on both sides. However, it either continued to glow its original color, in this case white, or hardly glow at all through the paint. Even when having a bright light shone directly onto it, it wouldn't glow. Looking around online, it seems that its better to just get the color of glow paint you want to paint with, rather than tinting it yourself, which is a bummer.
>>
>>13681853
>GlowInc.com
Anon, I mean this in the least creepy way possible:
I think I love you. That looks damn perfect for a kit with a GN drive, I'm going to have to try it myself.

What are good kits to practise getting rid of seam lines?

I have a revive RX-78-2, would that be good as it is so square?
>>
>>13681958
You'll probably be better off with a kit that has a lot of large surfaces and is fairly old. Doms and Dom variants are usually good for this type of thing.
>>
>>13681958
No, the Revive basicly turned most of the seamlines into either panel lines or raised surface so there isn't much visible seamlines to fix. I suggest HGUC Feddie grunt kits, most of them have easy to fix seamlines.

the GM is great because it's cheap and all 4 limbs and the feet are basically flat surfaces

the head is the only tricky part and the one you should do last, the ear circles will show you how easy it is to destroy surface detail if you don't be careful

Oh yeah, all these kits I worked on during the second half of this year. The Harute took about 3 days to modify/weld/sand and another 3 days to paint, the Sherman was just a day of building and a day of painting (A base coat of Tamiya spray followed by some handbrushed details), and the Transient was admittedly an on-and-off project due to school work, so that took about a month with huge gaps in between.

There is no excuse to not be able to grab a few cans of paint, some alligator sticks, a foam block, and a place to spray outside/in the garage and just go at a kit for an hour or two a day.

I initially didn't like the silhouette, but the more I look at it the more I can dig it. It feels like a good mix of Gundam and grunt. A few quibbles though.

The gun is literally just an elongated version of the same Graze rifle we've seen on every other Graze-based kit. Considering how useless guns have been so far in the series, I hope it comes with some kind of melee weapon. Would be nice if it got to keep the Gusion's hammer.

That back skirt and boosters will never not look ridiculous to me. I bet it'll look way better without them.

So, my current project is to make a 1/144 Gundam MK V by modifying the HGUC Doven Wolf. It's going great so far, but the largest problem is going to be the head, given that it's such a specific shape. Does anyone have any ideas on how I can make it look as good as possible? Would pure scratchbuilding be the best using milliput, or should I start off with another Gundam head then modify with pla-plate?

He is always here, every minute of every day, everyone hates and complains about him, yet nothing ever gets done about it. The image floods continue, as does his shitty blog posts, and none of us believe that it isn't the same person.

But nothing will change, because he is in control and our new nip overlords don't understand or care. Half of our legitimate tripfags, Toot, Jaeger, ect. have already jumped ship.

We just cling to it as it continues to sink, because our only real alternative for discussion of this niche hobby is /r gunpla

I think being tired of blue and so going one step to the right into purple is weird, but I digress.

I think the purple is far too prevalent and vibrant here., and clashes horribly with the yellow accents. Since it's an Avalanche Exia, I'd double down on the white and grey and leave the purple for the accents. Or hey, make it dark shades of grey if you're tired of white itself.

>>13683520

Could try the legs and torso from R-Gyagya, it looks alright if you don't attach the shoulders and the larger proportions will stop the Beargguy head from being too comically oversized. The original Beargguy's head might also fit the aesthetic better, if you can get hold of one.

you'll enjoy the MG Gundam DX and the Barbatos then especially the inner frames, they're quite detailed and the engineering inside is really nice. I suggest building the Gundam DX as the Skeleton first and then building the armour so you can enjoy how cool the inner skeleton is.

I haven't built the Tryon but I've heard its pretty cool, the 00 gundam is universally well recieved as being hella flexible. The cold types are pretty old kits though and will be closer to the 90's kits than any of the others

Does anyone have any experience with the Advanced Grade Gundam AGE kits? I just need a G-Bouncer torso for the custom on the left (which will otherwise have a different head. Not sure quite what yet), and the HG kit is at GN Archer levels of overpriced due to not being re-released ever. The AG kit, which is a glorified statue, is $12 on Amazon and since I only need the torso I can just scrap the rest.

I need to know if the proportions are correct, since although the scale is right I'm not taking a $12 kit for granted.

The custom base for the Strike RM is huge, you may well end up using the Action Base if space is an issue. Once you've got the Aile Striker on the Action Base isn't very stable since the centre of mass is far above the connection point at the base of the crotch.

You're definition of "not bad" is fucked
>>
I'm a fucking idiot that painted the fucking vents and crotch on my cold district a completely different shade of red than it should be. Should I strip it or say fuck it since its only detail painting?

You should do what satisfies your tastes.
>>
>>13684297

But not his, because Snapshit's taste is legendarily caustic.

You just posted, so no.

Its tamiya flat red. I don't know why I thought it would look decent before but my eye only caught it now. Maybe because I am doing the barbatos right now too for practice along with this. I think I have a zeon gundam marker that is close to the maroon of the GM but this kinda took the piss out of me because I did actually decent with it even if its small ass details.

HG when?

The mg infinite justice? Shield effect can easily come off, back heavy, sabers on side skirt can easily come off.

Lots of details, even the inside of the armor, good articulation, nice effect parts, pink

Strip it, do it again. You'll only twitch every time you look at it otherwise, I do the same with my AGE-1 Spallow whose white collar is still tinted yellow because I didn't prime it properly.

>ZAFT decals on ORB-developed MS
>>
I found an HG Gyan stashed in the gunpla corner of a Hobbytown the other day but I didn't buy it.

Did I do something wrong /m/?

They should have kept Kamille as a child-like personality instead of making him a comatose Newtype yaoi magnet.

Revive was announced a while back so not at all
>>
>>13684464
Speaking of, there was a Nightingale on the bottom shelf.

It practically owned that bottom shelf. I regret not buying it for the sheer novelty of having superchunk Sazabi.
>>
>>13684443
Why not? It's operated by ZAFT. That's like bitching about there being EFSF decals on the tan Zaku from 0083.
>>
>>13684500
They at least painted it on EFSF colors
>>
>>13684500
Except one of these was used for extensive testing and probably maintained regularly, and the other was stolen and were basically on full alert for the duration of their service with little time for useless customization.
