If the anime is like the LN, and sticks mostly to Theo, than that'll be good, as Theo doesn't really understand the complete story either. The LN is heavily colored by Theo's biases and perceptions. There's a lot of mental monologuing and analysis from him (for instances, he assumes Beatrix is late to the rescue on purpose without any real proof because that's what he wants to believe). The story basically presents Gretel and Sylwia as just bitches, and Beatrix as evil incarnate, because that's what Theo sees and thinks (it also helps that the three above really don't like him).

First, the people who've seen the pilot all claim that they've basically squashed the first volume into one episode. If they do this with the other volumes, I could see them speeding through volumes 1-4, and devoting more time to 5-7 where the meat of the story and character development takes place.

Depends on how BiS ends (you think I'd be irresponsible enough to write fanfiction for an incomplete work). I'd probably have her get "dissapeared" by the stasi along with everyone else, (allowing for a healthy degree of character conflict between him and Iris, who'd he blame for her disappearance). General Heim would pretty much have to put his foot down to keep Jürgen from running off and looking for Beato. I'd imagine Heim would use arguments along the lines of "It's too dangerous, the stasi are looking for you/You'll jeopardize the whole rebellion/Someone has gotta take care of Ursula" and assurances of "We'll do everything in our power to look for her/We'll tell you if anything pops up/We'll make sure to get Beatrix too you if she turns up" to erode Jurg's recalcitrance. That's what he did though.Her MiG was actually missing an arm and suffering a lot of malfunction and overall damage at that moment. It literally happened not long after she survived several fights with multiple people, some even in 1v2 ( And BETA, because IRCC the Werewolves participated in the Oder Neisse line defense ), and she couldn't repair before she encountered Theo, as all this shit happened in one continuous event with not much rest in between.
That's why it's really just an execution and not a real fight. Just the time for Theo to actually get in close-combat.

Given the kind of for-all-situations that TSFs are in comparison to strictly tanks, though, it's hard to imagine them staffing significant numbers of MBTs in their armored units rather than just mostly APCs for ferrying foot troops around. While they're about two division's worth of people in terms of fighting forces, the people inside are just split into 4 regiment-sized groups, which means that their regiments are quite oversized.
Reg. 1, 2, and 24 are regular military units with significant TSF forces, while the last are all the redshirt security units grouped together under the force org. chart. I imagine they function more as mixed-force brigades. These guys are also supposed to lead with TSFs both for it being the best anti-BETA weapons platform and the most advanced human-to-human platform, and as well for awe purposes; kind of defeats the reason for swooping in as a hero when they're doing it in tanks and tracked mortars that the main military have already seen a shitload of lost to the BETA without even the fighting chance of TSFs.

The greater issue is that fripSide is too "actiony" for the mood of SM. I was expecting something more... solemn. A lot more, in fact, but it ends up that shit's even more pop than any of the Railgun OPs and that's saying something.
