Looks pretty good from what I watched already. In general a nice looking release I think, maybe a little too grainy but I am sure whoever will encode it will fix up any small issues like that.

Individual boards don't have assigned mods. Boards get assigned janitors to look after them, and then mods are above janitors and look after all boards, not one in particular. And the mods react fairly quickly to some things, like the Valvrager, so they're definitely aware we exist and willing to do stuff on the board - just not the stuff some users want. If you want to be a mod then as far as I know the only way is to become a janitor and hope you prove competent enough that when they're looking for a new mod they pick you.

Hilariously enough, Japanese manga industry completely dwarfs America's comic industry.
>>
>>13641711

American comics have become severely inbred because capes became so popular that they literally just edged everything else out of the market, leaving only two major companies competing over one style of comic for several decades. If a comic shifts 10, 000 issues in a month it's doing well now. Which is why the movies have been such a god send, and why comics are changing to reflect any that do good - because the comics themselves aren't pulling in much money, but the movies are pulling it in hand over fist.
>>
>>13641632

>>13639995
GGG is pretty much the only one that Takara (before the Tomy merger) didn't give a damn about by the time it aired, so they let Bandai do whatever with it. It's pretty telling that they are steadily letting Bamco use shows tied to their toy licenses for SRW (e.g. Votoms, Galient), but who knows, maybe things might change next year (since it's the next Brave anniversary).
>>

Wanna know why I don't like Cape books? Because they always gotta have a million crossovers with other series that I don't care about in a vainful attempt to make me care about their other books.

That and replacing good artists with absolute hacks like Greg Land, with a seemingly needless shuffle and desire to reboot everything every 5 years.

Learning another language in general is a good thing. Not Japanese in particular, but any language at all. Japanese is good for reading or watching more Japanese media, which there's a good chunk of that could be good you'd otherwise never have a chance to experience, but really any language is going to have some merits - even if only in the more esoteric "it's so different to your native language and gives you a new way of thinking" way.

Wanting to read more Japanese stuff isn't the best reason in the world to learn a new language, but any reason at all is better than none and never doing it.
>>

>Wanting to read more Japanese stuff isn't the best reason in the world to learn a new language

Because it changes you, it actively changes your brain.

Learning a new language allows you to understand how other people think. Language is inherently tied to culture, and by learning a language you learn about the people who speak it.
>>
>>13643499
What languages are you fluent in
>>
>>13643512

English, French, and I speak a little bit of Greek, but my studies aren't very far.

And you're saying the best reason to learn a language is so you can expand your mind and understand everyone? You think this is Gundam?
>>
>>13643512

Also, there have been several studies that have all shown that learning another language alters the neural pathways of your brain into more efficient ways.

I do think some of the skills gained in learning a language are applicable in other fields, though. I've heard some computer scientists have a strong background in linguistics because understanding 'natural' languages, especially grammar and syntax, helps them make computer ones.

The unsung hero of GaoGaiGar is the maintenance guy who replaces the glass on the final fusion button every time they smash it.

The maintenance guys in general are heroes. The sheer amount of shit they have to put up with is insane.

J-Decker seems to be quite popular on Tumblr, I think there might be actually more J-Decker material than GGG on Tumblr :)

Speaking of Braves, are there any reference sheets of that robot bat from Exkaiser? You know, the one Dinogeist uses to communicate with the rest of Geisters (does that bat even have a name?)

Why letterbox? Why not just leave it 4:3?

Now if only Media Blasters somehow lost the license for GGG to Funimation, then we could probably get a decent and by decent I mean one that is properly HOT-BLOODED and BRAVE English BD dub.

I liked the dub of GGG. It wasn't perfect by any means, but the dubbing team clearly knew what kind of show they were doing.

Plus, Mike Sinterniklass is probably the closest to an english soundalike to Hiyama we can get. That and Dan Green was the best possible casting for Taiga.
>>
>>13656251
I could see the license get grabbed by either Right Stuff/Nozomi or Discotek (or, if one is really desperate, Sentai Filmworks), since I doubt Funi would go for something relatively niche.
>>
>>13656251
They just need to get the original cast and finish it.

When I bugged Sinterniklass a couple of years ago when he showed up at Fan Expo, we got into talking about how the second half and FINAL never got done.

The cast really wanted to do the second half, or at least Sinterniklass did.

>Funi dub of GGG

I don't even have any clue who can hit the range some of cast has that Funi uses.

Maybe if Sentai gets a hold of them, it might be possible, like how they got the rest of Rozen Maiden dubbed with the original English VA cast.

Because that's a screencap of the bluray m2ts. HD resolutions on Bluray are always 16:9 (There is a 1440x1080 mode, but it's anamorphic widescreen), so anything narrower gets pillarboxed.

I wonder if it's Morvabul too.

Sasword has apparently reappeared, it was released on his nyaa account. I don't know what's going on beyond the fact he obviously picked up the script collection Chirlind put out when she pulled out.

Speaking of her, I have to wonder if she's having a reaction akin to "are you kidding me?" right now.
>>
>>13656804
Going by her reaction in the /m/subs forum thread, she wasn't expecting it either.
