Ship thread
Ship this
Anyone else think the New Macross-class looks kinda dull in carrier mode compared to the SDF-1?
Also, having to drag around a space colony at all times seems like a poor design decision. The rest of the fleet is self-propelled, why not give the island engines too?
>>13467784
I thought the islands could into self propelled? In Macross 7 the island ends up seperated from the carrier and they seem to get around just fine without it.
>>13467848
Then why are they connected to one another in the first place?
>>13467859
Why do the carriers turn into robots?
>>13467895
Get OUT
>>13467895
They have more dakka and a faster recharge rate on the main gun in robot mode.
>>13467895
>ever asking "why"
>>13467732
You can't trick me, Age-2 Artemis.
>>13467936
Why?
>>13467859
The Macross ship is the fleets main defense.
>>13467895
In the original SDF-1 it was because it was the only way to get the ships reactors to connect to the ships main guns. Why later macross class ships transform is a mystery.
>>13472993
To scare the ever loving hell out of their enemies.
>>13472993
Has higher output when transformed.'
>One Gunship, Advance-type (Macross Cannon or Mega-Macross Cannon). When energy is supplied from the main power reactor of Battle Frontier in Attack mode, maximum output and re-fire rate improves. However it is necessary to impose a limit on the number of uses for cooling the gun barrel and particle accelerator system.
>>13473101
I want to see a Macross where Earth is under attack, they slave multiple Battleguys directly into the planetary power grid, and they spam their main guns until the barrels blow apart from the stress.
>>13475183
Fuck off, Jupiter.
>>13473128
Where is this from?
>>13475686
It's from Homeworld.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CXNQNeLDg5s
>>13472993
That sort of seems like an intentional design flaw
this looks like the Origin redesign of the Salamis class, I like it
I like the Musashi
>>13477630
>>13476943
Damn. Is it on steam or something? I kinda want it.
>>13477420
It wasn't intentional. If I remembert right, the first time the Macross folds the main gun generators disappeared. The only way to connect it to the main generator was to transform.
>>13477765
It's on steam with the remastered collection. The remastering of the first game isn't as good as the original, but it comes with that too.
>>13467732
yay ships!
>>13478058
Jesus Christ
>>13467732
The first time I watched Mobile Suit Gundam, I was so sure that White Base was going to transform into a giant gundam.
>>13478098
You now realize White Base is shaped like the Sphinx
And the Musai is a star trek ship upside down.
>>13478404
The Musai was never upside down, it's just your dirty earthnoid thinking that makes you assume the bridge is at the top
>>13478601
I fucking love this goddamn abomination
>>13478601
>>13478549
>when Star Destroyers became a pissing contest
>>13473128
already happened in Macross II, they had 6000m long Macross Cannons as part of their main Earth defense fleet (plus a few in reserve around Mars IIIRC), would have worked fine to annihilate most enemies but the Marduke fleets were numbered in the millions and a whole volley of fire could only take out 400,000 or so enemy ships.
>>13478601
This is now my go-to bullshit flagship in anything I can shoehorn it into
>>13478945
Just fix a few design flaws through use of teleporters, Star Trek style replicators, and automated crew for less essential areas.
>>13477865
Allright then, i'll check it out.
Grappler ships?
I really need to learn to draw my own spaceships.
>>13479463
The Galaxy Class is a terrible ship. No late game carrier has any business being that small.
Now THIS is the ship of champions.
>this beautiful ship got almost 0 screen time
>>13477641
I loved this shit. Not only for how outlandish and crazy it was but just because you could actually see the gears turning in her head. That little detail right there makes the whole scene just work.
>>13478098
Thank God I'm not the only one, it just looks so transformable.
>>13478098
>>13481202
The Galaxy-class looks fucking amazing and that one you posted is route-locked, isn't it? You can only get the blueprint if you make one choice and not the other in the second half of the game I thought.
>>13482100
It looks alright, but it's a really underwhelming ship for that part of the game, since it's a carrier 24 fighter slots out of a cap of 60.
And yes, the Absoluta is route locked, but it's also hands down the best flagship.
If you want a good carrier available on any route then the best is the Eleganta, though it's a late rank unlock. Though for all carriers are worth the Eberlin will do.
>>13467732
Always good to see a ship thread. Carrying mechs around is not an easy job, you know, but we always get ignored anyway.
>>13482100
>>13485505
Any download link for these scans?
I love the White Ark and the Fishbone from Victory.
They're so tiny, way different from the huge carriers like the White Base and the likes.
>>13493371
Not that I know of. I got them off /m/. I think the original source went down ages ago and I'm not aware of any other source.
Dumping, since you asked nicely.
And that's all that I have.
It's a shame really; the graphics capabilities on the DS just couldn't do these designs justice.
I really like the Spaceship Concepts on mouretsu pirates movie
Titans had the best of everything mobile suits, uniforms and warship designs
>>13493954
Thank you. What's the title of the book?
>>13494655
Haven't the foggiest, sorry.
Oh wait, google.
Yeah, apparently it's the Infinite Space Material Collection Artbook.
http://www.animebooks.com/inspmaco.html
Apparently it was limited kind of deal.
>>13493295
Cool.
What is that from?
>>13495395
Exxaxion...aka Sonoda takes a big shit on his fans.
>>13494002
The original source was a Tumblr blog that went down a long time ago. If anyone knows a decent scanner I wouldn't mind buying and shipping a copy to someone; I'm not shipping my copy though.
>>13496358
So he kills Rally Vincent?
But seriously, thanks. Yeah I haven't heard good things about it.
>>13494002
If memory serves, Infinite Space was originally pitched as a Wii/PS2 title. PS2 was on its last legs at the time, though, and the DS was exploding in popularity. Nude Maker was also lacking in funds, so they shifted to the DS. And even then, they were still short so they had to cut out most of the third act and most of the character development they had planned except for the key or most important points. Like this.
The Reigenland characters were always intended tosacrifice themselves for Yuri, though.
There's actually a timeline for the universe.
>>13496386
>and most of the character development they had planned except for the key or most important points.
Really? Because damn those characters really carried that barebones game as they were
>>13496400
They were really, really ambitious about the story and where it could go. You see some of that in the routes that remained in the game, but they had to cut out a lot. That's why some of the SMC characters stop being a thing in the LMC, for example, and why Yuri only ends up with Kira no matter what else you do.
>>13496409What's a "Kira"?
>>13496416
His younger sister.
And that's it, that's all I have.
>>13472993
>Why later macross class ships transform is a mystery.
Well, think of it this way: In space, its logical to assume the largest ship is the biggest threat. Therefore, in order to protect the colony ship they are escorting, Macross ships transform into a humanoid form in order to attract attention on themselves and not the larger island ship behind them.
If any of you lads have shmup artbooks/ship stuff, please dump it in >>>/vg/122120489

>no raven
>>13496423
He was being coy, you silly goose.
>>13496409
>Yuri only ends up with Kira no matter what else you do.
Don't remind me. Kira was cool and all ever since her response to being taken captive, but for the love of god, poor Katida deserved better.
>>13496409
As an aside, did anyone else grow really fond of the Lugovalian cast? At times they made *me* feel like the bad guy.
So many cool but nonsensical designs for space vehicles.
Will realistic shit ever catch on or are we stuck in Boxy Space Boats forever?
>>13467732
RIP X Series
>>13498167
I still want Nia to come back.
>>13498200
Well that's the point, isn't it? It would be great if you could've allied with them to defeat theOverlordsinstead of just fighting them, but then that would require the Emperor to not be full-on retarded and unwilling to talk to anyone.
>>13505043
Lugovalos was really well executed, I thought. You get introduced to them as this typical conquering evil empire, and they invade the SMC, easily crushing its divided nations, and set up shop. So when the time comes to go back everyone's raring to get stuck in and liberate their homeland from it's oppressors.
And then they actually get there and find that Lugovalos is doing a fantastic job running the place. All the corruption and inefficiency caused by the squabbling factions of the previous governments is completely gone and the place runs very smoothly. Quality of life has drastically improved under their rule; people don't *want* to be liberated. Hell, there's even a scene where Desmond is summoned before the viceroy in charge of the place and pointedly asked about complaints about how he's treating the citizens in his area, and over his protests that they're just locals is promptly and icily reminded that anyone under their flag is a Lugovalian and is to be treated as such, by personal decree of the emperor no less. They're also a meritocracy, with anyone being given a fair shot and rank decided largely by skill. And you look back at the LMC govermnents, who are making the exact same mistakes as their predecessors and fighting each other over geopolitics despite the imminent invasion and you begin to wonder if the Lugovalian's aren't right.
And then get to see meetings of their military high command, which consist of things like Eremon shooting down a human wave option on humanitarian grounds, Merril being given a shot at carrying out a plan despite his adjutant position because of his skill, the fact that he's essentially doing all this to impress Ursula who wouldn't be able to be with him if he coudn't prove himself. And then Cico, the frigging prince, detains him after the meeting to give him friendly advice about girls.
I found myself wanting to play the game about these people instead.
Plus their ships were fucking sweet.
>>13505577
Their ships are great. I really wish Infinite Space had more of a Romance of the Three Kingdoms or Fire Emblem way of handling NPCs, or even something like Shin Koihime Musou, so that we could've had a bit more of the game with characters we really liked.
The consistent ship scaling was a neat touch too. It was cool to see how much your newer ships completely dwarfed your older ones.
There are too many bit characters for that to really work, and most don't have much character. A lot of them are near useless as well.
The extra mode allowing access to every character in the game, including non-recruitable ones was pretty magical. the way the stats fell you would wind up with the emperor of the whole universe as your first officer and the president of space America serving food in your galley.
>>13477785
That's exactly what happens
>>13505577
Yeah, it's one of the many reasons I love Infinite Space. The characters were wonderful. I just wish the combat were better ;_;
>>13482100
>>13485505
>>13493954
What are these from?
>>13472993
I like how max insists on transforming the Battle 7 before firing every time. Because of course he prefers fighting in Battroid mode.
>>13505911
An art-book for Infinite Space, a DS RPG where you command a small fleet of customisable space warships.
>>13505899
As it is, it's a lucky miracle that PlatinumGames were on board for this. It almost makes you wonder how much they would experiment with genres other than action, sometimes.
Gundam
Federations Frigate
Gundam SEED
Des Moines class cruiser
armament
single 8-inch gun(66 rpm,in battle scene)
88 x VLS
>>13478404
I wish Sphinx Gundam got a gunpla.
>>13505944
I don't understand, aren't Platinum Games both a Developer and a Publisher? Or are they just a Developer?
>>13509067
They're just a developer, unless they've independently published games via Steam or a similar service.
>>13467732
what ship is that??
>>13509347
It's an AGE-2 modified to look like White Base, dumbass
>>13509153
Damn, they must have some really talented directors. They do a lot of genres.
>>13509067
>>13509153
They haven't gone full WayForward yet (and even then, the latter need lots of support to make non-licensed games on their own).

No, its the Minerva from the anime Crusher Joe
