idk I've done a ton of interviews for internships and parts of them are always tough for me because social anxiety. but they do get a lot easier, because you know what kind of questions to expect. so you kinda have stock answers in your mind which makes you less nervous about the questions and answers part. but I still get a bit anxious if I'm expecting a curveball. when I interviewed with apple I was super nervous because they are notorious for weird questions but luckily they don't ask them for interns.

honestly my school prepared me really well for interviews so I'm pretty blessed in that regard. I only applied for one job after graduating and they loved me in the interviews and I got it no problem, apparently I blew the other applicants out of the water.
and technically yes, they sent my advisor a preliminary email that was like "hey we want to hire this applicant" but then something happened and they didn't like our scheduling so they pulled out of the co-op system. so I didn't get to work for them. I was the only one out of like 100 ee/ce/cs students who applied that got past the first round of interviews too :\

That's a good reason enough. I have a senior officer position in a government agency with an engineer title. My basic pay grade is above a professor's before even factoring in additional benefits. It's still much less than what I could have made working R&D in the luxury industry, but I think the pressure would have destroyed me much earlier.
