well, it depends. The new people I'm exposed to are mostly friends of friends and they tend to be don't-even-blink accepting.
but among peripheral people at parties, and strangers who somehow learn that I'm a big queer - women are somewhat better, if only because they're not aggressive about trying not to catch the queer off of me.
All in all I have a pretty good experience with most people, but I'm confident and well-spoken and I think that helps.
