Has he finally been barraged?
>>
what he did is a perfect example of the so called "English exit" as we call it in Polish

basically, you pretend you are not leaving/giving up by obfuscating it with pretense and foppery so people don't notice that you've actually left/gave up
>>
>>61666560
Why did he give up?
>>
So he was never a career politician? What did he do before?
>>
>>61666560
Naw
>>
>>61666633
Career alcoholic
>>
>>61666629
In a catastrophic turn of events he got what he claimed to want
>>
>>61666606
He set out to accomplish a goal, it took him 15 years and he accomplished did it. Then, unlike career politicians, he got off the public's dime. More politicians should do what he did.
>>
>>61666755
I think he knows the UK made a mistake and wants to get out before the backlash and angry mobs come for him.
>>
>>61666787
yes I am sure he got it planned from the very beginning and only simpletons would dare to argue
>>
>leave wins
>the two biggest faces of the victorious campaign resign
only in bongland
>>
>>61666787
>More politicians should do what he did.
you mean leaving when things become tough?
>>
>>61666851
he will probably return in a year when things get really ugly to say that he and his fellow MODERATE, SENSIBLE Brexiters would've never allowed all this to happen

mark my words
>>
>>61666851
I mean getting into politics with a defined goal, accomplishing that goal, and getting the fuck out. Not getting in with a vague ideal that has no clear, measurable definitions like "I want to run for equality(and power)" or "we should embrace diversity(through giving us power)" and then sit sucking up the taxpayer's dollar until you die.
>>
>>61666976
This. Fucking euros are so attached to their technocratic mumbo jumbo that they have no idea what real leadership looks like.
You set a goal: invade Iraq. You send troops to Iraq. Boom, mission accomplished. Mission Accomplished. Then you retire to your ranch in Texas, knowing you made the world a better place.
>>
>>61667120
>putting Texan hicks in charge of military operations
>>
>>61666833

Farage was a big face for the leave campaign sure but he wasn't officially connected. He's not an MP and isn't a member of the party in power. He resigned because he won, he has reached his goals but only idiots on this board would manage to somehow spin that into a negative.

>Sweden
>un-ironically calling the UK bongland

You of all people should know better
>>
>>61666976
>>61667120

He may have achieved his goal and you may find that honorable but the reality is that he never really worked as a politician.
He is good at campaigning, sure, but in his time in the eu parlament he has one of the worst attendance ratings of all MEPs, just in front of a guy who is chronically ill and has been hospitalised for the last few years.
And although he now has completed his goal, he will continue to serve as a MEP for the next two years and will then be eligible for an eu pension.

The truth is, he is the biggest waste of taxes of them all.
>>
>>61667304
He resigned because what he did blew up into the people's face, and, of course, nobody wants to be a part of it anymore.

He's trying to save his ass.
>>
>>61667164
>letting the EU decide on laws that control you when you don't even elect those lawmakers
careful now, I might put in a bad word for you with the EU and they'll take away even your country's illusion of control over its laws
>>
>>61667304
Andrea whatsherface said she wouldn't rule out having Farage as part of the negotiations. He still had a part to play but he's scarpered because of the unfolding political shitstorm HE helped spawn.
>>
>>61667401

Are you people retarded or just pretending to be?

What exactly is he trying to save his ass from? He's not a member of the party in power or connected to brexit in any official way. He's not even an MP.

He doesn't answer to anybody, he's not "part" of anything you moron.
>>
>>61667419
>letting the EU decide on laws that control you when you don't even elect those lawmakers

Please don't fall for this British meme.
>>
>>61667488
"He's not a part of anything."
He was a prominent, vocal part of the #Brexit campaign. It's not the powers that be he's saving his ass from, but a public lynching.
>>
>>61667479

Not ruling out something doesn't mean anything, and it doesn't change the fact Farage doesn't hold any power in government.

Only on /int/ could morons somehow spin something good like this isn't a negative.

Oh man, you need to stop commenting on politics from places you don't know anything about. Pathetic abuse and threats from the public is nothing new, he's been the face of UKIP for almost 20 years, you really think he's scared now after all the shit he's been through over the years?
Doesn't matter if he was a "prominent vocal part", he backed and supported brexit, doesn't make him responsible for it, even if he wanted to be he couldn't as he doesn't actually hold any power.

Why?
Because you think so?

Every single competence the EU has and is able to legislate, got transferred to the EU by each of our national parliaments, including the British one, because they decided it was in our best interests.
>>

>>

Highly doubt they will. The campaign to leave was based on immigration and border control so the UK cannot backpedal in regards to freedom of movement.

They also want to be part of the free trade agreement while the EU has firmly suggested there will be no compromise. I feel like the EU will be less likely to budge in order to prevent similar referendums taking place in other countries.

My country is one of those contributors and our yearly contribution is about 0,5% of our total yearly government spending.
That's less than our foreign aid budget, but we actually profit from the EU.
The EU is made out to be this huge bureaucratic monster and while there may be inefficiencies and need for reform, it's not as bad as most people think or are led to believe.
The entire EU has about as many civile servants as the city of vienna alone (without our federal government)

Wrong. We have the "bilaterali" deals with the EU, which basically means we have to accept 98% the laws the other EU countries have to accept, and get nothing in return

We hate the EU for a couple of reasons
1) Ideological: Switzerland is a confederacy, based on direct democracy. We care about autonomy, sovereignity, individuality and democracy a lot. The EU goes against all of those. This is why we voted against joining the EU 4 times
2) Political: As I said, we are forced to accept anything the EU tells us to do

well that's basically it in short

He was a fucking commodity trader (=speculator)
I suspect his chances of finding employment in the City are somewhat diminished now, after fucking it all up for them. Or maybe he'll get picked up for his connections. Who knows.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nigel_Farage
>Farage was educated at Dulwich College, an independent school with a wide social mix in south London,[19] and in his autobiography he pays tribute to the careers advice he received there from England Test cricketer John Dewes, "who must have spotted that I was quite ballsy, probably good on a platform, unafraid of the limelight, a bit noisy and good at selling things".[20] On leaving school in 1982, he decided not to go to university, but to work in the City, trading commodities at the London Metal Exchange.[13] Initially, he joined the American commodity operation of brokerage firm Drexel Burnham Lambert,[15] transferring to Credit Lyonnais Rouse in 1986.[15] He joined Refco in 1994, and Natexis Metals in 2003.[15]

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drexel_Burnham_Lambert
>Drexel Burnham Lambert was a major Wall Street investment banking firm which was forced into bankruptcy in February 1990 due to its involvement in illegal activities in the junk bond market, driven by Drexel employee Michael Milken. At its height, it was the fifth-largest investment bank in the United States.[1]

>but if a lot of countries want the single market but no freedom of movement
Because this isn't a thing. Freedom of movement is very much welcome by all members, aside from maybe towards the slav countries, but then they're not so stupid as to allow the westerners to take advantage of their markets without getting their free movement in the deal.
The issue is niggers, but that has shit all to do with Schengen, it's all about human rights bullshit and independent national policies like your commonwealth treaties and francafrique.

Because you cannot have single market without the freedom of movement.

If you only want a free trade then you sign a free trade agreement.
