Should also be mentioned that Zaha Hadid died the other day. While I wasn't generally a fan of her architecture, she had some decent stuff on her record and was definitely an important architect for better or worse. Posting a bridge of hers, as we need some infrastructure in here from time to time.

Indeed, though they haven't been popular lately.
Checked the archive before making this one and they all died with less than 10 replies.

Sad, these are usually the only threads that aren't shitposted to hell.

Well, I still took it upon me to make an attempt.
Just need to samefag enough to get the ball rolling, and eventually people will show up.

If everything is pretty close together that sounds like the perfect number of people. I'm envious of you euros and your small closely nit towns.

Yeah it's pretty small in size. It's like a 30 minute bus ride from one side to the other. We do have a few big cities in the UK, but it really is only a few in comparison to how many you have in the States.

Chicago World's Fair, I think one building is still standing.
>>57442424
That's usually how it goes for world fairs.
I suppose they're just not built to actually be used.
>>57442611
Yeah the materials used are usually pretty low quality, but it's still sad.
>>57442732
The same street today. JUST
Original proposal for the town hall in Oslo, but not what they went with, as by the time they actually had the funds to start building it in the early 30's, modernism was on its way in.
>>57443393
What was built in its place.
There's still some classical touches to it, but they are more subtly engraved in the facades of the overall very streamlined twin towers.
>>57443456
also another winning proposal for where it originally was gonna be built
>>57443510
But location changed to the shore, and brutalist buildings filled the plot by the 60's.
>>57443510
I find this one to be the best.
>>57442404
At least the destruction of buildings like Penn Station and the Chicago Federal building led us realize how important the past is and to make sure that it never happens again.

>>57445645
It's great. Shame it's not more of a centerpiece in the skyline when seen from the usual river view.
Does the triangle on top spin around like a rotating restaurant or something? Would be cool if it did.

>>57445815
no it doesn't spind around.
At the moment they rebuild an old silo of a brewery as a residental tower in the south of the city. There was a spinning restaurant in the old silo but i think the new tower just has a normal restaurant

It's the Guardian Building in Detroit. It's supposed to be art deco with a Mayan/Native American spin. At one point I think it was the largest brick building in the world.
>>57434469
A pic from Filthadelphia. Doesn't look too bad.
>>57447297
Is he triggered by art deco? I remember him getting pissy when people posted more traditionalist styles in the past, but I didn't know if art deco was one of the styles that upsets him. It's kind of the last great architectural style right before modernism started to set in.

These are the best from this thread in terms of full cities, and that means mid rises. Let's stop just posting pics here and discuss, I think the best model for cities is one where most of the city's area is composed of mid (4-7 floor) rises and a skyscrapper (ideally with art deco ones, but it's never coming back) zone, with plenty of parks and town squares around. To top it, a forest ring on the outskirts of the city is ideal, but not necessary. It helps to fresh the air a bit and mark clearly where the city ends, and so avoid the retarded urban sprawls such as mexico city and são paulo.
>>57442424
World fairs are so cool
>>57443682
By that point it was pretty much too late. You know how many pics I have of beautiful American buildings that no longer exist? I don't either, but it's a damn lot.
