What do you mean? Going for a master's degree?
>>
>>53369032
When I picked Econ as my undergrad degree I knew I'd need a grad degree to take it anywhere, but I got cold feet out of undergrad and decided to take some time off.

>>53369057
Ehh, masters isn't really worth it in most cases. Unless you're going for an MBA, but you'd be a fool to pay for one of those yourself. My only problem with getting into grad school is a lack of recommendation letters (I lack a third one), which wouldn't be as much of an issue if I were to apply to law school. Econ grads tend to score pretty high on the LSAT and I consider myself a very literate person who would be suited for a career in law anyway. I flirted with the idea of a PhD in Econ (harder to get into, first two years tends to be harsh), a masters in International Relations at the university I went to (which has ample connections with the State Department and DoD, thanks Papa Bush) or a degree in law.

Interesting tidbit about Spanish swords.
http://latinamericanhistory.about.com/od/theconquest/a/09armsconquest.htm
>Steel Spanish swords of the conquest were about three feet long and relatively narrow, sharp on both sides. The Spanish city of Toledo was known as one of the best places in the world for making arms and armor and a fine Toledo sword was a valuable weapon indeed: the finely made weapons did not pass inspection until they could bend in a half-circle and survive a full-force impact with a metal helmet. The fine Spanish steel sword was such an advantage that for some time after the conquest, it was illegal for natives to have one.
>Like the cavalry, Spanish foot soldiers made good use of swords. A heavily armored Spanish foot soldier could cut down dozens of native enemies in minutes with a fine Toledan blade.
>>
>>53369177
If you think you would end up happier if you went back, then perhaps it would be best. I'm sure you've put a lot of thought into your options already.

It's at least a better idea than learning Spanish on the run.
>>
>>53368498
That particular sword looks odd though. The handle's short enough to be a talwar handle.
>>
>>53369177
So what are you doing in the interim?

Tbh I'd go for PhD in econ if you're good enough. I've never looked into PhD programs but aren't they all extremely competitive? I'm surprised we aren't at the point where people are paying to take PhD courses. There must be enough demand from very good students to justify it in a variety of fields.

Well, a PhD locks me into a research career. I don't know if I want to spend the rest of my life dealing with Academia, publishing quotas, tenure rat races, etc.
And, well, there's a PhD program for everyone. Just a matter of how good it is. And I'd say graduate assistantships are a vital element of the PhD program.
Tons of chinks coming overseas to study, though, gotta deal with that shit.
And I'm doing the shitty part time job I did for a living in college.

I don't know, a few things happened this week (or didn't happen, rather) that made me realize I just wasn't motivated to work when I knew it was going to be a short-term thing. I've also

Pandering to underprivileged groups and feminism made all of Europe weak socially, they've had the violence taken out of them.

The capacity for violence is an important thing to consider. Too much makes a society unstable, too little makes them unable to defend themselves.

How about Islamic society's capacity for violence comparatively?

In 1915 we were coming out of the Gilded Age, a time very similar to now. The government was full of corporate money and corruption and people got fed up with it. Things started to change and people began enjoying the fruits of American economic growth.

I think you also need to keep in mind that people didn't own closets full of suits back then whereas people nowadays have closets full of regular clothes.

If you have money to spend on the lotto to give to one person you should have money to give extra to taxes. No one wants to pay extra taxes bc it's every man for himself out there. Black people understand this cause the social safety net is so bad that they have to rely on each other for support instead.

The powerball appeals to people with addictive personalities, the same people who drink and smoke every day.

The government does redistribute wealth, welfare, despite people always complaining about it, isn't in that bad of a position right now.

I'm still not 100% sure what your argument is so don't take this as me chopping it or whatever but I'm going to rant.

As somebody who is poor and lives with poor myself, the system isn't really that bad, sure I believe that wealthy should be taxed much more, but a lot of the issues come from the poor people themselves.

You would be amazed at how often you see people using foodstamps to buy cigarettes or fast food despite it being illegal, places just don't give a single fuck.

And college costing too much isn't really what's causing poor people to stay poor, ESPECIALLY these days. Basic jobs like electrician or plumber are jobs that are already making large amounts of money and are only going to make much more.

I don't even care about this desu I am just saying I understand my black brothers and sisters. The idea that people are gonna pump a billion dollars into the lotto is absurd. If I were in charge around here I'd ban the shit out of the lotto and all other gambling.

I don't really blame poor people for being poor though. Negative feedback loops aren't easily broken.

I mostly have the same feelings as you. I'm finishing undergrad with 6-8k debt. It could have been less but I used some of the money for a better living situation. It's pretty easy to finish undergrad at a state school, even in a place with high tuition, with next to no debt. Millenials have a very strong victim complex and are painting themselves into a box of persecution where everything bad is always someone else's fault.

tbqh you kind of sound like a socialist or even a communist.

It's not like it's hidden at how unlikely it is to win it. Everytime It's brought up I feel like I hear people say shit like it's more likely to be hit by lightning.

Not to mention if you're banning the lottery for gambling there are literally thousands if not millions of other aspects of society you have to inspect to see if they should also be banned. As somebody in the field myself, the main one I think of is mobile games. They are designed almost 100% around techniques that gambling companies use. They even refer to customers as sale whales when they hook an addict and get them to spend hundreds and even THOUSANDS of dollars on games that only take relatively few man hours to make.

I mean I live in it my father had the most addictive personality I've ever seen, he died from it too last year. It's hard to watch somebody buy lotto tickets cigs, alcohol constantly just to feel normal, but it's a subject I'm very torn on because they don't seem to be able to control themselves but at the same time you have to basically uproot all of society to get at every addictive aspect of it.

Yea there's plugins to add more content and you sell ranks with special commands and cosmetic features like colored name tags or a command to repair their armor for free etc.
Then you can also sell items that are more powerful so it's basically pay to win. On my server if you die you lose the items too. I have seen people spend hundreds of dollars then die in pop and lost it 15 minutes later."
