Oh hi!

Been reading more of Lojban Level 0 today, FA starts to make sense. This booklet really has good explanations. Also, I'm about to turn the lazy mode on. I work with both Russians and British, not sure if I'll have to do anything meaningful tomorrow. I think I will read a couple of pages in Polish today and that'd be it.

For all of you who use Gregorian calendar for religious holidays - merry Christmas. Please listen to this amazing chant even if you are secularfag, I promise it's really good.

>For all of you who use Gregorian calendar

It's the future now, so why aren't we using a metric calendar? :P
>>
>>52612605

Describe it pls. Is it decimal?

We have a fuckton of important stuff tied to seconds, how do you go about fixing it?

Since it's the future you have to be an atheist or heretic of some sort though. Having a separate calendar for religious holidays should look stupid to you anyways.

So it means I'll have to give up my nice wristwatches. No thanks.
>>
>>52613341
Why don't you own your own watch-making factory? :P
>>
>>52613861

Have no place to host it. Id doesn't take a factory, I can buy the crystals probably. I can theoretically machine the cases on my own, also I can theoretically buy the jewels (the ones they use as bearings) and set them on site, probably print the dials and machine the wheels. No way I could manufacture the hairsprings.

Shit you made me sad. I want to run a watch factory indeed. The problem is, watchmaking is a form of art where engineering, manufacturing culture and design meet, and I don't know a thing aboit the latter. And the lathe is kind of expensive and big.

That's a clock, and big one at that, right? Watches are different. Even pocket watches are different from wristwatches. The latter require protection for hardest (and most brittle) parts (the escapement, look up incabloc, it's amazing).

I am making a spin off of Toki Pona that I call "Loji Dada".

It is a dadaist language that sounds like Toki Pona, includes some of Esperanto's diacritics, all of Volapük's umlauts, and tries to self-segregate the morphology like Lojban.

Attempted translation of Toki Pona's "mi unpa e mama sina":

iĉ oĉ al x mama ludo (Alternatively written: iĉoĉal x mamaludo x)

I don't know how to properly gloss, but it should be something like "I you(r) to-the mom f*** ".

The "x" is a click to prevent the merging of "l" and "m" when speaking quickly.

There are freaks like that here, just don't flee right away.

There is this guy from Finland who builds that simplistic Germanic(ish) conlang.

Then there is your compatriot with his Crimean Gothic.

And this nice Common Honey person.

>>
>>52615245

The Germanic one is Kartuwaletu or some such. I'm pretty sure you'll meet the author if you hang out here.

The sort of Gothic guy showed up this morning. Do you guys keep track of threads somehow? Some meta chan archive tool? If you do then good, it should be in the archive. The guy's a namefag, I think he'd show up, too.

As far as /lang is concerned, not much really. Links to jbovlaste/vlasisku, Swissbro's posts I've figured out the roots in but not the cmavo, then there are references/handbooks but I've grabbed PDFs of these, and toki pona I know by heart (although I make mistakes sometimes).
>>
>>52617004
Have you checked the Solresol PDFs yet?
>>
>>52617232

Not even planned to. I'm sort of color blind there so why even try.

Moreover, I don't get the attitude of this chain of threads. Everyone seems to start learning everything, not sure if it works.

I'm sort of kind of learning languages when I commute since it's wasted time anyway, but I have some IRL commitments. So if I pick a language I'd be chewing on it for months, and it's not spectacular and I won't be studying two or three. There are Ukrainian and Polish which I sort of understand anyway, so I'd listen/read these occasionally. There is French I used to learn at school for a while so I remember some. But that's it, all the rest I have to learn if I'm going to understand anything at all, the boring repetitive way, and it takes time.
>>
>>52617702
>I'm sort of color blind there so why even try.
Solresol is determined by sound and numbers too. You can be blind and still know Solresol.
>>
>>52617832

1) Color blind was a metaphor, probably I should have called it tone deaf or something
2) No matter how cool the language is, if I go beyond just reading a wiki article on it I should spend time learning. I currently have a slot for one language, I picked Lojban (although I considered Esperanto first). I could cheat like reading the description of the language and some basic expressions but I don't feel like it. You are nice people, why would I lie to you. :3

I have a personal conlang that I use to write things I don't want other people reading, mostly personal thoughts.

It's constantly in development, and I keep changing the things I don't like, which made some of my earlier writings hard as fuck to read now that I forgot some of the old features that are no more or have changed. But I enjoy this evolutionary approach to creating a language, it almost feels like how a natural language would develop.

Also I don't speak French, so I apologize for responding in English.

Short description fot those who are interested in Turkic languages.

Kazakh. There are no any prepositions in Kazakh, but postpositions. And there are seven cases:
-nominative --
-genitive -niñ, -nıñ, -diñ, -dıñ, -tiñ, -tıñ
-dative -ğa, -ge, -na, -ne, -qa, -ke...
-accusative -nı, -ni, -dı, -di, -tı, -ti...
-locative -da, -de, -ta, -te...
-ablative -dan, -den, -tan, -ten, -nan, -nen
-comitative -men, -ben, -pen
Infinitive verb = V + u(ex.: kelu - to come, baru - to go). And stative verbs - bar(there is) and jok(the is no).
Basic postposition(they can be after verbs): üşin(for(no cases)), art(behind(genetive)), işi(inside(genetive)).
The need expressed by the word "kerek" which is after an infinitive verb.

And now we can make simple sentences. Some words for example: aqşa - money
üy - home
düken - shop
ne - what(?)
qorap - a box

Examples: üy-de aqşa jok. No money in the house.
qorap-ta ne bar? What is inside of the box?
düken-ge baru kerek! (You) need to go to the shop!

It is unfortunate that such languages get lost in cyberspace.

Next year the inventor is going to have a scientific or somewhat work on his lang written by an Estonian linguist and he wants supermarkets to sell a grammar book. Also there's a group of conlangers of this Ithkuilish lang, the bad think is all the sources on araxau are in russian.

If I remember correctly, Lidepla (Lingwa de Planeta) was invented in Russia.
>>
>>52647276
Yes, in SPb.
I thought it's kind of Esperanto because most common words are european-like.
How do you see it?
>>
>>52647441
I agree. It is too European. It still needs more Asian and African influences.

Are any of you nerds going to learn a real language (English) ?
>>
>tfw trying to make a diachronic conlang
>tfw it never ends up looking how you want it
>>

I'm learning Latin.
>>
>>52656674
What means "diachronic"?
>>
>>52654516
I'm doing Dalmatian and fortifying my ancient Greek

>>52657273
What texts did you choose? How hard do you find it? I learned Latin for 5 years, and did an additional "self-" year of reading texts. That was almost four years ago...
>>
>>52642969
Damn, you are right...

I never noticed
>>
>>52657618
Through time, basically a diachronic conlang is one derived from another by simulating natural sound changes
>>
>>52657618
from the word "dia" (for) and "hronikos" (time), meaning something that is happening for some time, or in linguistics, look up "historical linguistics"

When you let context disambiguate, Toki Pona will almost always win.

Myn näm is William end ick myn ogen spräck gemackt.
My name is William and I made my own language.

It is an Germanisk spräck mid an Appalatjisk accent gesprocken.
It is a Germanic language spoken with an Appalachian accent.

Hjer is an ferhäll ofer an beafer dat ick in myn spräck geskrebt.
Here is a story I wrote in my own language about a beaver.

>An däg, an beafer geng near de kreek, end daar säh hy an jöngen fissen. "Gud däg, jöngen." Gesegt de beafer. De jöngen kyk hjem, end gesegt hy, "Moin, beafer. Wat döst dou hjer in de kreek? Hast dou niks an däm?" De beafer sjöd hys kop. "Na, häw ick keen däm." De jöngen runcked. "Kan ick dee hjelpen an newe däm to booen?" De beafer läckelt, "Jea! Kommst dou mid me end wy sal an newe däm to booen!" End so booet se an newe däm tosamm.

>One day, a beaver went to the creek, and there he saw a boy fishing. "Hello, boy." Said the beaver. The boy looked at him, and he said, "Hi, beaver. What are you doing here in the creek? Don't you have a dam?" The beaver shook his head, "No, I don't have a dam." The boy frowned, "Can I help you build a dam?" The beaver smiled, "Yes! Come with me and we will build a new dam!" And so they built a new dam together.
