Let's pretend that you could learn any language you want fluently, but you would have to forget English completely. (you could relearn it later)
Which language would you chose?
fluently? chinese
Swedish
The language of aliens from A.I.
Alberto-Barbosian desu
>>52316182
irish english
Honestly if I had a choice in this I wouldn't do it. English is much more important to me than any other language (besides czech of course). If I had to pick, spanish I guess.
Ithkuil, I'd be the smartest man on Earth.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ithkuil
I want to speak Esperanto, but I can learn that on my own.
japanese
i could finally watch my animes without subtitles
Russian
qts will flock to my cock when I promise marriage and Italian citizenship.
And then I make them pregnant and never come back again
>>52316890
your cute italian boy-cunt will be raped by her closeted gay brothers.

>>52316182
Arabic. Defiantly going for the toughest and commonly used in 20+ nations;
Now i've mastered Arabic and Mandarin, Spanish is next!
>>52316236
That's absolutely retarded
t. Swedish American
French or italian
French.
>>52316182
French
>>52316236
...why?
Latin
>>52316182
french, followed by russian
>>52316336
>made up language
>nouns have genders
Why?
>>52317830
Esperanto has no gender.
All nouns end in -o.
Plurals are made like in greek, with diphthongs, like oj and aj. (oy in toy, ie in tie)
i'd forget english to learn american anyday anyyear
>>52316182
fingolian
Norwegian
Dutch
It'd be piss to learn English again if you do
>>52319357
But then you'd sound like a retard.
>>52316182
Hebrew
Chinese or Russian.
>>52316182
Some hard as fuck language so it'd be worth forgetting english
>>52317063
fuck you i don't know what is your problem with our language
>>52322472
The language of spics and moors.
Russian.
Relearn English later, easy as fuck language desu senpai.
French. It would be super easy to relearn English then.
>>52322207
most younger dutch people have a very good spoken english
>>52317469
Spanish isn't tough at all. If you have an understanding of English already it will be easy peesy to learn.
>>52316182
Proto-Indo-European, if that is allowed.
Besides that, Irish and/or Sanskrit.
Arabic.

I think you are right...
>>52317001
>hochdeutsch
>not plattdüütsch
Disgusting
>>52317496
>muh heritage
Russian.
>>52316182
>English
>American Flag
>Portuguese
>Brazilian flag
Japanese so I can finally stop studying it. Then I just have to re-learn english and that's easy.
>>52322901
>Yoorop
>Relevant
>>52316182
>You could learn any language you want fluently, but you would have to forget English.
Fuck that, the King's English is the greatest and most relevant on earth, anything else would put me at a disadvantage.
>>52316182
Mandarin seems useful. How was is it to learn English as an adult?
>>52323079
How hard was it*
>>52316182
>tricolour flags are horizontal while the rest are vertical
>except spain
i am legitimately triggered
>>52316336
Beat me to it.
I would just learn it because it is pretty fantastic. (I already can do enough Esperanto to get by).
But I would need to think before commiting to it. . .
I might also like a totally dead, ancient human language, perhaps I would lear quipu or something like that.
>>52323253
are you a commie?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-5nBiz-xci0
>>52323523
Probably. But more of a socialist. When it is done right, you know. Stalin style.
>>52317063
>It looks like Spanish...and I don't like this language
I take it you are not reffering to Ithkuil:
>Ulan-n oxassûg êqil ôqoìl.
>>52316336
So if you become fluent in Ithkuil, who would you talk to?
Lonely language.
>>52316182
The only ethical choice is Esperanto.
>>52317496
>i'm 1/128th Swedish and was born in America
>therefore I'm Swedish
I love this meme
>>52328699
Why not Volapuk?
Or Solresol?
Or Ido?
>>52329271
Because Esperanto has the most learning material available. It also has a large community and it's the only organized community that strives for a universal language.
Heck, even if you're no the biggest fan of Esperanto, most Esperantists would support a new universal language if it was made by modern linguists and supported by international organizations like the UN and the EU. I can't imagine the Cervantes or French Academy supporting such a movement.
>>52329271
1. Volapuk is moribund and has weird vowels.
2. The contemporary Solresol community is no longer attempting to be an auxiliary language.
3. >Ido
Finnish, then I can become a refugee and find work in Finrand.
Fluently? It would be Japanese or Korean.
Chines bcuz hard as fuck.
Dutch
Russian
Cantonese
In this order
>>52317910
Literally a shitspeak.
>Design a language
>Cant get rid of grammar and tenses
Literally why.
>>52316182
Russian, I want to be able to us the very developed insults.
>>52336752
How would you distinguish future from present and/or past with no tenses?
>>52338003
Like the Chinese do with tenses.
If something was done yesterday, you say that you have done it yesterday, as in using the word that signifies that it was accomplished.
It's stupidly simple, which is why I could learn it in a few month knowing only the basic vocab to OK level, and 3 years to fluent level.
WTF?!
Why would I give up a language that pretty much the rest of world wants to learn?
An ancient dead language that scholars haven't figured out, then I'd be famous for revealing the language to the world. I'd be like a modern rosetta stone
CANTONESE
>>52338347
how is this different from adding a suffix or a prefix to a verb?
>>52316336
Bonan lernadon!
>>52340484
This was going to be my answer. It's the only right answer desu
>>52317095
>says it sounds like shit
>picks meh pop song with weird singing
????
At least be fair. It's not gorgeous but not everyone sounds that bad. Here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HRF1QqcLX5Y
I think that's more accurate. If you still don't like it then that's fine...I just really dislike like that inicialoj dc song haha
>>52335168
This. To relearn english, on the other hand, is easy as fuck.
why anyone would want to learn german is beyond me. we are only relevant in europe and the language is ugly, difficult and a cockblocker
>>52342572
Job opportunities. My cousin worked in volkswagen and they even teach their employees german. German is also an important language for economy. I kind of hate the language but plan to learn as soon as I finish russian.
>>52342561
why anyone would want to learn Japanese is beyond me. they are only relevant in Japan and the language is ugly, difficult and a cockblocker
>>52342746
>German is also an important language for economy
Can you elaborate on that?
Norwegian, so I could have an adorable af accent when learning English
>>52342764
I was talking about chinese. I think japanese prettier than chinese but not as important, I guess. Nowdays is more like a meme but it's losing it's space for korean language, which is even worse.
>>52342795
>hueland
>be an economist
>know german
There you go, greater chances of job opportunities. Not to count that german has a very good source of information in this subject.
>>52342985
Quoted you wrong on the first.
>>52342985
I don't know if you know what an economist do, but you could've just said it's good for job opportunities. The fact you work in economics doesn't make it more requiring to learn German but actually the opposite.
>but muh Austrian school
You can just say "for hobby purposes" because that's what this shit is read for.
>>52343205
I wasn't even talking about austrian school. I don't know where you live but here in SP, there are many german companies that would rather employ german speakers. Not saying it's priority though.
>>52343323
I'm from SP.
I bet you're talking about Siemens, Bosch, Volkswagen, Mahle and Krupp.
Most of them have all of its documents, guidelines and operation in English.
Unless you have to communicate with the headquartered team there's no requirement to speak it, but most of these communications are done by PMs and VPs instead.
