I guess Australia is more like the US and New Zealand more like the UK? Australians love big and bold and brazen, and I think Kiwis are perhaps more reserved, have lots of green countryside, but still have a big passion for their rugby team.

Sort of correct. Australian rules football and cricket are much bigger than rugby here, as you said. Australia has plenty of vegetation, rainforests, snow, etc. The main reason most people don't think so is because the center of our country is desert. However the areas where people actually live has plenty of vegetation, including Tasmania which is pretty much a smaller New Zealand in itself.
On the 'personality' stuff you mentioned, I think you'd be a fool to stereotype any country's people that way. Australia gets characterised from people's knowledge from movies like Crocodile Dundee and people like Steve Irwin. In reality, these types of people make up a minority of society and that type of accent and character is thought to be dying (unfortunately).

New Zealand is very green and beautiful all throughout the whole country, and Australians are mostly concentrated around the coast because there's a lot more desert and brush throughout the middle of the country and in the west.
Kiwis are more proud of their multiculturalism while Aussies have a reputation for being racist even though there's a decent amount of minorities there. And somehow, despite being quite racist, they manage to be uber-liberal on basically every other issue.
And Kiwis are only slightly more introverted than Aussies, both have pretty "sunny" dispositions.

We definitely prefer League to Union, If you wanted to split it up Australia is about 80% League, 20% Union. The answer to what is more popular: AFL or NRL will depend entirely on who you ask. AFL has a much higher game attendee numbers, but NRL has higher TV ratings, and the big NRL games like the Grand Final, State of Origin and International games always get higher numbers than the AFL Grand Final. It's fair to say they're about as popular as each other, but their fans are in completely different areas, NRL is popular in Queensland and New South Wales (Which do make up 50% of Australias population), AFL is popular everywhere else. If you combined Union & League into just Rugby, It would be fair to say Rugby is marginally more popular than AFL.
