Why can't I delete or right-click certain files in certain folders?

I'm able to delete files elsewhere, and right-clicking on my desktop and some other places is no problem. But for some reason, I can't delete/right-click any folder in my pictures and videos folder. I also recently uninstalled YouCam software, and there's still a folder in both of these sections I'm trying to delete. Weirdly, it says "this folder is unavailable" despite being still visible. It's like that in both folders. When I right-click it or any other folder in those sections, nothing happens. But if I move the cursor over to my desktop and right-click there, the menu pops up normally. So how can I delete these folders?

Illustrator (Adobe)

The CS2 version is free.

The tool you're looking for is "live trace."
>>
>>54394763
Best I've used is vector magic but it's still not perfect.

However, you should learn how to draw better in inkscape and trace over images in inkscape for the best accuracy.

Vector magic will output a SVG but you still have to fix that shit with inkscape.

Does DAZ loader compromise the security of W7?

I am a poorfag putting together his PC with an old 2010 Dell, and I have all the hardware but I want to replace the HDD and don't feel like going through all the trouble needed to clone it onto the new one.

I intend on using this as my personal daily driver, so email, web browsing, banking, everything. I'm tired of playing msoft's games so I want to "acquire" windows 7.

Would installing with a legit ISO burned onto a dvd then activating with DAZ make it a botnet, or should I just install Linux?

Depends on the motherboard BIOS settings and thermal stress. The stock cooler that comes with non-K intel processors is only enough to cool them at their base frequency. If you want to run your processor at turbo speeds 24/7 I recommend buying an aftermarket cooler like the hyper evo 212 else you risk the CPU sustaining permanent damage over time if temps are too high.

all right, i managed to delete those folders. for some reason, they don't show up when you try to locate them after locating them through the hdd rather than just going start to pictures/videos. also, i was only able to delete them by right-clicking them on the side panel. still doesn't let me click in the pictures/videos folder. weird.

one more thing... this is related to webcam software i want uninstalled. i know sometimes after you uninstall software, you sometimes still have the folders located elsewhere, like sometimes it'll still be in the program files. real quick, could you guys tell me where i should be looking so i can make sure i've got rid of everything? thanks.

Has anyone figured out how to shut down frozen programs easily in windows?

Sometimes the program causes a black screen and I can't get the task manager on top.

The last option is to log out but that kills everything else I have on.

Also, there's this "Waiting for windows to resolve the issue" which is completely useless. Is there a way to get rid of this?

My sister has a 2011 Macbook Pro 15". Recently it stopped booting, basically the apple logo appears, and the loading bar starts loading, and then it stops and just sits there. Sometimes after it stops loading it just goes to a blank white screen and nothing happens, even after leaving it there for hours. It won't start in safe mode either.

I tried everything I could (I know nothing about macs or how to work them). I reset the PRAM, I tried checking the disk using single user mode (which said the HDD was fine, but it has to be a HDD issue).

She has no recovery, so unable to do that either.

I'm pretty sure its the HDD, as I took out the HDD, put it in an external enclosure and tried to see if it would read on her iMac, which it did, but the folders were un-accessible. Basically, the folders appeared, but when you clicked on them nothing came up.

I think if she goes to the Apple store or elsewhere they will overcharge her. I think I should just replace the HDD, right? I'm thinking about just getting a 512GB SSD. How do I go about installing OSX on a new HDD though? She doesn't have the OSX disk that came with the laptop or anything, and I really don't want to have to re-buy the OS either.
>>
>>54396508
mac is unix bruh, so of course you can't actually access the files without the proper credentials, have you tried a live linux? it should let you see the files and when you go to access them, linux will ask you to provide the credentials, just use her usernam/password

>>
>>54396581
So then the HDD is probably working then? No I haven't tried Linux, I run W10 and was using her iMac to see if I could get any files off the HDD.

I think it's something else then, maybe the motherboard or something else on her laptop, I'm pretty sure it's a hardware issue though.
>>
>>54396508
I had this issue too, I basically had to reinstall my os. The reason that her folders have nothing in them is because they are journaled. You can make a bootable usb by finding the OS online or by using another mac to download and make the bootable usb. You will need another mac to make the bootable usb.

use the mac app store and look for elcapitan. It's a free update.

If she doesn't like elcapitan you can look under purchased and see the previous downloads that she has made. I personally prefer Yosemite over elcapitan. Elcapitan was was too buggy. I also have a 2011 macbook pro so the older os runs a little better.

Outputs: Mini DisplayPort

Mini DisplayPort to DVI
Mini DisplayPort to VGA
Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI

I'm planning to build myself a desktop PC. The last time I did stuff like that there was still AGP around, so I'm sort of out of touch. Just a small build for work, nothing beefy, but also nothing that will be completely outdated in a couple of years. So I decided to pick a Intel i3-6100T (35 W TDP), appropriate mITX mainboard, 16 GB of 2.1 GHz DDR4 memory and an SSD. I don't need more than the integrated GPU, so that's all that needs to be in that case.

So my question is: How much watts does my PSU need to offer? Or if that's too specific, can you point me to reliable online calculators or other sources to determine that? Everything I found seems to be targeted at gamer kiddies.

My computer restarts immediately whenever I open a 3D application. Like, a few frames into a 3D benchmark it restarts.

I've ruled out CPU and RAM as being being the culprit, and it doesn't seem like there is even enough time for the GPU to overheat (temp doesn't go above 55 before crashing). It's definitely not the drivers either, I've used multiple different versions.

I think it's the power supply. What is the best way to test this?

Is the Intel G3258 really what it's cracked up to be? I'm looking to build a productvity/light gaming computer on the cheap, and while AMD seems to be the better deal upfront, I've had nothing but trouble with them in the past.

I've heard arguments on both sides, for and against the G3258, but I can't decide whether or not I want to settle with a dual core in 2016.
>>
>>54398966
I underclocked GPU to -20% power, lowered clocks. Running fine now. This makes me think even more that it's a power supply issue.
>>
>>54398838

Video editor?

I'm looking for the "gimp equivalent" of video editing, I tried to ask /wsg/ and they advised me to use lightworks, which messed the audio up in my videos, and it can't be easily solved.
Is there any video editor which free as in freedom and reliable? It doesn't has to be high end at all, I just want to trim and join videos, add some audio files and mess around basically.

Alright, this weekend im building my first pc and im looking forward to it.

Two questions: 1, how can I update Windows 7 SP 1 without hitting a Win10 forced upgrade? Is the aegis script good enough, or do I need to take additional measures? Or can I just survive without updates? (sounds like a terrible idea, but if its what I must do at this point then I guess I have no choice).

Two, what is the best package manager for windows? Ive tried using chocolatey in the past, and it "just works" but it is a pain to use. There are always dumb problems when there shouldnt be any.

Better question, should I even bother using a package manager, or are all of them shit?
>>
>>54399570
I've got the process list open, but I haven't seen anything really out of the question, yet. svchost being a hog for superfetch but that's about it. Startup stuff looks normal, too, other than some things that came with the new drivers I installed, but that was after this problem started.

Does anyone know about CC 3.0 licenses?

I found some music and it had this license:

http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/3.0/deed.en

The no derivative part confuses me.
Does that mean i can use the song in a project if i don't make any money off of it and source where i got the music, or is the music saying i can't reuse it anywhere and can only listen to the song for my own leisure?

>>54400120
I feel like there are more knowledgeable places on the web to discuss copyright law, but don't worry about it.

>Does that mean i can use the song in a project if i don't make any money off of it and source where i got the music

AND if you don't change the music in any way, yes. Legally speaking, derivative works are anything where you base your own work (which has your own implicit copyright) on someone else's, e.g. fanfiction or song remixes.

Is there a reason to get zoom lenses over prime lenses assuming the price is the same?

The price is never the same, a zoom lens will cost more or less on par with a prime lens and have worse specs because compromises have to be made for zoom.

Consider the below:

>Canon EF-S f/3.6-5.6 18-55mm IS STM lens, $250
or
>Canon EF f/2.8 (?) 24mm STM lens, $170
>Canon EF-S f/2.0 (?) 40mm STM lens, $200
>Canon EF-S f/1.8 50mm STM lens, $160

By all rights the top zoom lens fills the focal length niches of the bottom three lenses, plus it's more convenient and cheaper, but the zoom lens is not particularly fast.

I'm relatively new to photography and got a $600 gift card for a camera store. I need a quick lens but it's much more expensive to use strictly prime lenses.

Hey, /g/. I'm working on a small personal project using git, and I'm wondering if someone could clarify something for me. I have my 'master' branch and a second branch 'branchA', which I'm currently working on/pointing to. Now, if I switch to 'master' and run 'git status' all of the same files I've edited on 'branchA' are showing up in the 'git status' for the master branch. All of the changes to those files show up as well when I open whatever program to edit my code. I was under the impression that switching branches should reset the files back to what they were when the branch was made. Am I wrong? Or am I not branching correctly?

Does anyone have any experience with Coreboot/Libreboot?

Just for clarification, I'm pretty good with computers by regular people's standards, but I'm a complete noob compared to y'all.

I think I can follow the guide fairly well, but I also feel like if something goes wrong I won't have a clue what to do and it's so obscure that there's next to no resources to help me, besides bugging y'all which I don't wanna resort to.

for i in "${writes[@]}"; do
[ "$i" -gt "$writes_max" ] && writes_max="$i"

while read object; do
for i in "${object[@]}"; do
[ "$i" -gt "$object_max" ] && object_max="$i"
done
done <<<"$(echo -e 'reads\nwrites')"

I can hear the card doing 'clicks' for each key I press on the keyboard
but it ain't executing them.

What I have tried
>Re-Inserted the card several times
>Taken out RAM and inserted it back in
>Cleared CMOS
>Turned the card in for fault check, No faults

It's a mystery to me what to do or what is wrong.
Suggestions?

My PC that I haven't used in a year isn't working. I press the power button and hear fans whirring and things begin to sound like they're starting up, and then it stops. After about 10 secs the fans begin whirring again but nothing boots, not even the computer light comes on.

I asked about this maybe two weeks ago and these are the fixes I've tried: I unplugged everything from PC and held down the power button to drain whatever is still in there, no fix. I cleaned out the inside of PC with and air compressor thing, no fix. I used a different power supply (/g/ thought this was the issue), still won't work.

Where I'm at now: I used the power supply of an almost identical computer my friend bought at the same time as me. It's Medion and the same model except he got a few new parts over the years. He doesn't use it anymore so I have access to all his parts. I'm thinking the next step would be to switch out my parts one by one with his until I find the computer part that's failing in my own pc.

So, any suggestions? Assuming the above is the correct course of action, which should I try first? I'm thinking either the hard drive or motherboard but I'm not sure.

I'm afraid of type-encrypt-viruses, recently I have downloaded a zip file that is approximately 1 GB big but it is corrupted, but the website where I did get it from, is quite "shady" or it was uploaded as fake upload to gain downloads points for premium account benefits for the uploader himself.

Need help troubleshooting.

Problem: PC completely freezes up requiring a hard reset. Audio last played also loops in the background as the PC is frozen the fuck up. Problem started occurring after a clean install of W10.

I've used DDU to completely remove and reinstall graphics drivers, updated BIOS firmware, tested with/without Realtek audio drivers, and performed all sorts of tests to rule out the potential of a bad PSU, RAM, HDD, etc.

This is not reproducible. but it has always occurred while audio was playing, and it is a lot more likely to occur with more demanding things open such as vidya.

What exactly is the difference between regular programming languages like C/C++ and "scripting" languages like Python?

The main benefit is that you don't have to pre-compile the Python code, you can just have the code sitting around waiting to be used, yeah?

>>
>>54407539
For an example I will compare C and Python. You are right, you don't need to compile python because it's an interpreted scripting language. This means it doesn't get turned into OS-specific machine code. Rather it gets read by a program and executes them. This is way way slower but it's way simpler for simple task. When using compiled languages like C, yes you have to wait a bit, but the execution is way faster and doesn't need an interpreter. If you compile C code on a mac you can run the executable on every mac, but if you write a python script, you can onpy execute it on machines that have python installed.

>>
>>54407727
Forgive me if i seem retarded, but what makes a language a scripting one is just it doesn't need to be compiled?

And presumably a code file/script can call another one, hence you can just dump all the code files/scripts into a folder and not have to compile them together or individually, etc?

Is there any way to prevent torrents seeding from an external hard drive attached to a USB hub from occasionally throwing I/O errors (due to access timeouts when the hub is busy or waiting for the drive to spin up when it has been idle) when seeding torrents off it? Like some way to increase uTorrent's I/O timeout before throwing an error would probably solve it.

And yeah I'm aware this isn't exactly an "ideal" setup and if I wanted to really really solve it I'd move that shit to an internal drive (or at least one plugged directly to my motherboard) but that's not really practical for now, so some kind of band-aid fix would be appreciated.
>>
>>54407785
Super simplified:
Compiler:

Open file;
If(command) {
Write machine code to file;
} else if(other command) {
Write different machine code;
}
...

Scripting interpreter:

if (command) {
Do command;
}
....

The interpreter makes things work on the fly which makes it slower, while the compiler makes it compiled once. Then it just works.

Most distros name the usb's mount dir's randomly (or so it seems). Maybe if you find which program does the nounting, you can modify it to mount a specific UID to a specific mountpoint, hence not changing the mountpoint on your usb so you don't get io errors. Sorry if you are on wangblows, no idea there.
>>
>>54404139
Did you buy the processor and ram to not use them?
>>
>>54408409
Yeah I don't think it's because of that, I think it's just timeout related, I'm seeding a bunch of stuff from various private trackers and most of them are inactive most of the time, so when a torrent actually becomes active the drive needs to quickly get ready to start reading data, and sometimes it's not quite fast enough and uTorrent throws an error and stops the torrent until I manually start it again. If I could increase this timeout somehow so it has more time to get ready I think it would solve the problem, though I can't find the setting to do so anywhere.
>>
>>54408466
What do you mean by not fast enough?
>>
>>54405369
If that is idle,i think you have other problems.
>card makes sounds when i press keyboard
what
>>
>>54408501
Something like:

>Leecher requests data from me
>uTorrent initializes previously idle drive to start sending data
>uTorrent waits for drive to be ready
>drive starts to spin up and prepare for sending data
>not fast enough, timeout expires
>uTorrent throws error, stops torrent

Or that's my assumption of what is happening anyway.

I've never heard of a battery just losing the ability to hold a charge completely overnight. You might want to make sure the battery is in all the way and in contact with all the contacts it's supposed to touch.

I'm pretty sure that isn't the problem. But if it is, I have no idea how to help you. Google it.

So the Comp Sci club got donated about 10 kind of old desktop computers (Core 2 Duos and Pentium 4s) that have just been sitting for months now. Nobody can figure out a use for them and I've been told by the people in charge if I can bother setting them up I'm free to mine on them until someone figures out a better use.

Question is what should I mine? Bitcoins seems like a waste of time since they are so underpowered. Are litecoins still a thing? I've asked about electricity and have been given the OK.

>>
>>54408755
Oh, didn't realize that, yeah looks like a pain in the ass.

Nonetheless a contact problem with the battery is one of the first things I'd suspect in a case like this. You might want to try simply removing the outer backplate and giving a firm push to the inner plate thing to see if that helps any. Maybe it will push the battery back into place if it got dislodged somehow.
