Headphone repairs? I have MDR-V6s and something seems to be wrong in the connection between the wire and the earpieces that makes sound cut out in the right ear. Any way to fix for someone with no experience working with electronics, or any way to get them fixed by someone who does?
Excited to get a pair of 7506's. I was debating between them and Sennheiser HD 558's. Since the price went up for them I am going to get the Sony headphones. It been a while since I used them so I don't exactly remember the sound quality.

Either Q701/K7XX/K702 or DT880 600 ohm. They should cost below 300$, which is the highest price you should pay for a headphone. More expensive headphone are just audiophile snobbery, because their price/performance ratio is absolutely horrendous compared to the headphones I mentioned in the beginning. The only sensible upgrade would be a pair of monitor speakers like the JBL lsr305, which are cheaper than the HD600 and which can easily throw both the HD600 and any other headphone out of the window.

I usually like Beyerdynamic headphones, first came in contact with the brand in college, most teachers seemed to enjoy it, the oldest beyer i've tested was a DT100 from the 70's, it was mostly mid-centric which i find very weird comming from beyerdynamic, i supose either the newer ones have being updated to have v-shapped signature or that those were so old there was something wrong with the drivers, probably the second option.
About my own Beyer, comming from the MDR V6 the DT880 was quite an upgrade imho, mine is in need of new pads though.

I managed to get him a HD439 and they are perfect for his needs so far. They are very comfortable too. I was able to get them for $50 Aussie dollars. I also performed the bass mod and now they are much more bassy.

Directly competing with the SE535, it depends on if you like your bass or mids more. Treble extension is quite poor on the SE846 but the bass is pretty solid. SE535s mids is one of the best I have ever heard, regardless of full size or in ear.
It comes down to preference but at that price, I would definitely jump on the SE846.

I assume you would be used to overly bassy cheap stuff then. SE535 might seem "bass light", and by all means they aren't, but you will probably be better off with the SE846 because of its general presence in the lower frequencies. You're getting a better deal on the SE846 anyway.

Anyone have any experience with the Sennheiser IE 80's? I'm looking for some earbuds with over the ear hooks and a replaceable cord and I haven't really seen anything else. I just had to send back my pair of RHA MA-750's for the second time in 18 months because the cord frayed and the right earbud stopped working. It's a shame because I really like the RHA's other than the durability issues.
