I was using a gtx 460 for around 5 years or more with no problems until fairly recently, i would get bluescreens and crashes randomly when running gpu intensive things and streaming. It's even crashed while idling. Is this because of the new drivers fucking everything up? Was crashing on windows 10. After switching to an r7-370 the crashes went away. Can anyone confirm that its the new drivers fucking my shit up f a m

I use Avenir Next and Charis SIL. Charis is free, avenir next can be downloaded from various torrent sites. Prior to that, it was Gill Sans, and then Fira Sans. Fira is free and pretty damn good. Monospace is obviously Consolas.

Why can't Chrome seem to handle 4chan post updates? Say I have a thread open and it gets 4 new replies, and then I scroll to the bottom, the "(4)" won't go away. I've had this issue across two machines, though my Chrome settings are synced.
Any ideas why this is? I don't use 4chanX

God fucking damn it all to hell. This is why I gave up on windows.

I am trying to fix a surface pro 3 for my mom. It can't see any wireless networks. WiFi is on, but it doesn't see anything. Other wireless devices connect to the WiFi just fine. Pretty sure it borked itself on tuesday when it installed updates.

I have removed the wireless adapter in device manager, reinstalled the driver, rebooted countless times, did a soft reset, connected it to a dock with ethernet and fully updated and checked for driver updates. Nothing makes it see WiFi networks.

I am about to do a hard reset, removing all user data and settings. Is there anything else I can try?

Shit. I set my default zoom to 125% because otherwise everything is too small to even read. I don't like Firefox, I'm a damn part of the botnet. That said, I'm pretty sure on my previous machine my zoom settings were always 100% and I had issues there too.

Assuming it came with Win10 try reverting back to a previous build of 10, I think it lets you keep your files and settings that way
Or it might actually just restore as it was before you updated so some of your more newer changes won't stay through

It came with 8.1 and I upgraded it to 10 a few months ago. I will see if I can revert to 8.1.

How is Media Preview supposed to work? None of my .webm thumbnails actually show until I go view the files myself in Windows Explorer.
Meaning if I select Choose File on here, the thumbnails of the files I haven't scrolled past in Windows Explorer won't show or load at all until I load Windows Explorer and navigate to them.

I can't have to do that constantly each time I add a file, right?

Thinking of finally moving on from my old laptop that I've had since 2012, was thinking about getting one of those cubed form-factor boxes and just putting a simple setup in there

any fucking cpu (if I can passively cool, then so much the better)
16gb memeory
any fucking gpu (would prefer AMD because Fuck You, Nvidia, right?)
not sure what motherboard would work for those cube form factor boxes, not too bothered as long as it is recent i.e. has shit like USB3
128gb ssd would serve me fine

i know i could use pcpartpicker but would be nice to get some advice.

could i get away with passively cooling it?
would be nice to have the sort of hardware that would be well supported in Ganoo Lenux

budget is about $600

Yeah, no way to revert to 8.1. Also no restore points (probably because of the soft reset). Going to do a hard reset. Fuck this.

If I'm in the market for a couple of 256GB or 512GB SSDs(Probably one of each), are Samsung 850 EVOs still the go-to, or should I get something else? Replacing my 64GB Win7 SSD with a probably 256GB Win7, and probably a 512GB Linux.

Also: How shitty is Debian for desktop usage? Going to use either Debian, openSUSE, Mint, or Ubuntu to switch away from Windows. General desktop/gaems usages. Leaning away from Ubuntu because MUH SPYWARE.

I didn't have any options to revert to. Don't know why. I did the 'refresh' option at first, which kept files and apps and reset settings, but that didn't help. I just did a 'reset' which did a fresh install of windows 10. I was hoping it would do a fresh install of 8.1, but it didn't.

But, after doing the reset and installing a fresh copy of windows 10 it still has the same problem. All I get is a little WiFi icon that has a little red X and when I hover over it says 'Not connected - No connections available'.

I mean what the fuck. Do you think it installed a 'firmware' update that is causing the WiFi adapter to not work properly? How would I even fix that?

When I go into Network Connections I see the WiFi adapter, but it has a red X in the icon, and it says not connected. I don't know if that just means it isn't connected to a wireless network, or if it's physically not connected (properly) to the computer. If it's the latter case, I have no idea what to do.

At this point I have nothing to lose, so I may try to install 8.1 from a USB drive, but I don't have the key. How does that work? Is the key stored one the device on some backup partition or something? I looked on all the original packaging and can't find a COA sticker anywhere.

>>53664834
As far as I can tell there isn't a function key that turns the WiFi adapter on/off on the type cover. I don't want to install Linux on it because my mom wouldn't like that. I, personally, would love to. But it's got to be simple, easy to use, and familiar.

How do I research what I need in laptop/computer?

The last computer I purchased was 4+ years ago when I built a gaymen rig. I researched my needs based on benchmarks and what game requirements were and were likely to become. I haven't played games in a couple years and need to purchase a laptop but find myself uneducated about what components would be worth looking for and what they're worth.

For example I'm considering a Thinkpad T460 w/ Corporate discount. The processor options are i3 2.3 GHz, i5 2.8 and 3 Ghz, and i7 3.4 Ghz. I want something that's going to last at least 3 years, and obviously stronger specs hold a better chance of lasting, but what do those differences translate to on the user end?

I've looked up what CPU are, I know what the different i series imply, but what does it mean for me, basically? The same goes for any other commercial components, I have a rudimentary understanding of what they are technically but I don't know how to gauge what they'll translate to on day to day use.

I'm not looking for a spoon fed answer either, when I look around on Google I get technical definitions and histories, which isn't bad, but I don't know where to look for this type of info.

I know it's "/g/ - commercial tech", but it's all memes and hype outside of generals that require skill sets like programming.

Thank you so much.

I'm pretty new to Linux, I've installed fedora 23, it's all working fine except I can't change my resolution to anything above 1074 x 728. My monitor lists as "unknown display" in display settings.

I'm dual booting and I can get 1920 x 1080 in Windows no problem.

Specs are
Asus Maximus Vii hero
Intel i7 4790k
Nvidia Titan X

I've tried updating the video card driver, passing i915.preliminary_hw_support=1 to the kernel and in grub customizer.

I've tried googling the issue but there's so much shit to wade through. Anyone have any advice or experience with this problem?

Yo hol' up

I thought a PSU operating at 80% efficiency basically provides the system with 80% of its labeled wattage, not that it would need 120% wattage from the power outlet which pic related clearly says from the installgentoo wiki. This is dead wrong isn't it? It may be that it takes more power from the outlet but the 80% efficiency is for the power the PSU supplies isn't it?
>>
So after Ubuntu failed to install on my laptop (hp from 2008, core ulv, 6GB ram, 300gb hdd) I went with Botnet 10. It installed but never got to the desktop and just turned black after the "installing necessary updates" shit. Only boots into same black screen.

Did mem test, so RAM should be fine. Since the display worked perfectly fine during installation, guess that's not the problem either.

Anything super obvious I am overlooking?

>>
>>53666085
If a PSU is 80% efficient, to deliver 80W it consumes 100W.

If you have a 1kW PSU, that's the same as 1000/0.80 = 1250W consumed from the wall to deliver 1000W to the PC.

Wait so, a power supply most DEFINITELY ALWAYS supplies its rated value? (e.g. continuous power/peak power) -- provided it's not a np-name shit one.

I thought like if I had a system with a maximum 420W requirement, I'd need something like a 550W power supply because 80% efficiency at 100% load would mean it would provide the system with precisely 440W. But you're saying that even if I get a 500W power supply, it can definitely provide the system with 500W of power (80% of 500W is 400, below the 420 requirement), and the whole problem of efficiency becomes how much power the PSU draws from the outlet, right? I mean I know a power supply provides less power than its rated wattage (you need to read the peak/continuous wattage which would be lower), but I mean besides that fact, generally, the issue of efficiency is in regards to its power consumption from the wall socket and not its power DELIVERY

Did I get this right

>Wait so, a power supply most DEFINITELY ALWAYS supplies its rated value?
No, it only supplies what it needs to, up to the rated value.

If your 1kW PSU with 80% efficiency was only having 500W drawn from it, it would be drawing 500/0.80 = 625W from the wall.

Also, the sticker on the PSU is what it CAN supply, not what it sucks from the wall. If you need 400W, get a 450W PSU.
If that PSU is 100% efficient, it still provides up to the 400W your PC needs, only drawing 400W form the wall.
If the PSU is 50% efficient, again, it still provides the 400W the PC needs, but draws 800W from the wall.

You really don't understand the difference between DNS regulation and administration and DNS distribution and redundancy.

also, just because gTLD ends with "domain" doesn't mean it's an addressable domain.

The people who own .org will remove your record if legally required, no matter how widely distributed your record, because they are the canonical source. Geographically distributing name servers reduces the downtime if one is damaged by, say, a flood, and also has faster lookups if you have one close, but it doesn't stop the registrars from revoking your domain ownership.

But what marks you out as a special kind of idiot is that you realise you don't know it all, so have to ask questions, but then ignore the answers you get, thinking you know better.

Right, but it DOES indeed provide the rated amount regardless of efficiency ratings right?

>Also, the sticker on the PSU is what it CAN supply, not what it sucks from the wall. If you need 400W, get a 450W PSU. If that PSU is 100% efficient, it still provides up to the 400W your PC needs, only drawing 400W form the wall. Nice. So why do people make a fuss about 80+ bronze/gold/titanium/etc. efficiency when it's pretty much irrelevant for your PC hardware...? I mean maybe if they have a UPS or are worried about electricity bills I'd understand or if they limited amperage delivered to their house.

But I do read on here that people get PSUs with ~100-150W more than their system requirements to be on the 'safe side' of things or some such. Can't they just calculate the absolute maximum their system would consume and get a lower-tier PSU (in terms of wattage) and save themselves like $35 instead? I get that they might you know change their GPU/CPU but with a single GPU system there's pretty much no way they'd need more than 500W if they don't have a ton of hard-drives, PCI cards, and a couple of liquid coolers. A simple setup (e.g. ram/intel cpu/hard drives) with the most demanding card (e.g. Fury X) would need at most 500W of power (pic related) and these are the same people worried about power usually. Am I missing something trivial? Overclocking would definitely require much more power but is there a reason besides that to get a power supply that's like 150W+ more than your system's maximum draw?

And why is pic related suggesting a 650W supply when at most the system isn't even reaching 500W under maximum load?

>>53666949
>Right, but it DOES indeed provide the rated amount regardless of efficiency ratings right?
Up to, yes. If your computer only needs 500W, it will only draw 500W, even if you have a 1kW PSU. When your CPU comes out of sleep and your GPU turns on though, it will increase, and as long as your combined total is less than the 1kW PSU, you're fine.
The short answer is "yes".

>Nice. So why do people make a fuss about 80+ bronze/gold/titanium/etc. efficiency
Because it's relevant to your electricity bill and cooling arrangements.
If you have a 1kW PSU on a 1kW rig, operating at 100% efficiency, your wall draw is 1kW (1000/1.00), and your heat loss is 0kW (ie, the PSU generates no waste heat).

If you have a 1kW PSU in a 1kW rig, operating at 50%, then you have a wall draw of 2kW, which will run your bill up twice as fast as the other PSU. Also, the extra kW is lost as heat, making your PSU very very hot, needing more thought out cooling.

>>53666991
>I have not affirmed that.

>gTLD = Generic top-level domain.
>So it's a domain!

Only in name, they aren't the same thing.

>OK, so the registrars owns all the servers of that gTLD, right?
No, but the other servers all look to the servers that the registrars own (approximately) for their answers. Whenever someone requests newdomain.org, they will look to the .org root servers to get the response. If it's there, they return that to the browser who asked, and save it for future speed.
Next time, they'll fetch it directly from their own caches, for some amount of time (say 24h).
So, the next day, when someone asks again for the domain newdomain.org, they'll go back to the root server to find out. Once the root server removes you, your domain is living on borrowed time and will begin to become inaccessible as the various different DNS servers (the ones distributed globally) eventually have it fall out of caches.
>>
>>53666425
Does anyone know this?

Thanks for all this great info, very useful.

>When your CPU comes out of sleep and your GPU turns on though, it will increase
What do you mean by this though? Do you mean that the CPU/GPU when coming out of sleep will somehow consume more than their maximum TDPs?
>>
>>53667090
>No, but the other servers all look to the servers that the registrars own (approximately) for their answers.
Hm, so the other servers are mirrors!
But is the root that removes the domains? Not the ".org" administrator? So all domains are on the root??
>>
>>53667152
No, it means that a CPU in sleep mode (acutally most of the time for light use) consumes less. a 45W CPU can be throttled down and turn off some internal parts so consume only, say, 5W, which is why laptops discharge faster when playing games than when editing text.

>>53667168
>>mirrors
Essentially. They're more like localised incomplete caches rather than full mirrors, but yes, it's close enough.

It becomes quite complex, because there's a lot of subcontracting involved, which is why you see multiple registrars who can all sell you domains under the .org namespace, even though .org is owned by a single company. I've simplified quite a lot.

But essentially, there is a single canonical source of domain Truth that exists on these root servers, and these root servers follow the law, and the other DNS servers follow the root. So, if the people who own .org are told to remove your domain, they will remove it from the root servers (or realistically, tell the people who own the root servers to remove the records, usually through automated processes), and soon after it stops being resolvable.

Owning TLDs (both ccTLDs and gTLDs) is a huge privilege and responsibility, along with a massive moneyspinner. They won't hesitate a second to throw you under the bus vs. risk being shunned by the global internet engineering community.

Wipe the PC clean and use the Microsoft image rather than the OEM image and it's bloat free.

If you have a modern PC with UEFI, the product key is stored in UEFI (the replacement for BIOS), so no need to worry about that as long as the key matches the product you're installing (Home key obviously wont work with an Ultimate install).

A reinstall will not void your warranty, unless you really fuck it up and they can prove that (imagine installing knockoff firmware and drivers after the clean install, which puts the hardware into a bad state).

>>53667396
Yes, they are all the same when it comes to compliance, in essence. Why? Consider looking at ccTLDs in the 3rd world (ie, .ly, belonging to Libya, rather than .org) who often have more lax laws regarding what they will point at.

.se (Sweden) and .ch (Switzerland) are traditionally ccTLDs that will not cave under US pressure to remove domains that point to piracy. Bonus if you can physically host your servers there as well, as it's outwith jurisdiction of many of the agencies you might want out of the picture.

>>
>>53667489
No, see, this isn't true and you've misled yourself by asking the wrong questions. If you just outright asked "what TLD is best to host piracy stuff", the answer would be "whatever TLD has the most relaxed owners and is in the jurisdiction of the most relaxed laws", in which case see my answer in >>53667471 .

.org is only bound by American law because the owners of .org are an American company. .se, owned by Sweden's internet authority, are good piracy hosters because Sweden-the-country doesn't recognise piracy in much the same way the USA does. Likewise, if you found that the gTLD ".space" belonged to a Swedish company and you used a Swedish registrar, you'd be fine.

I should clarify, when it comes to internet jurisdiction, "The Man" basically has a triple-play for jurisdiction:
1) Server location. If you're hosting pirated materials in a US datacentre, the FBI will happily raid it. They obviously can't do this in Switzerland.
2) TLD hosted under. If you use a .us domain, the domain is bound by US law (as it is administered by a US authority), and they will remove your record if you break it. They won't take your server though, just your DNS.
3) Registrar bought from. If you buy from a US registrar like GoDaddy, and the FBI tells them that they're seizing somedomain.se , which they sold to you, you might have a bad day. You could purchase it again elsewhere though, sometime in the future.

There are other forms of jurisdiction they can attempt, and there's of course nothing to stop agencies applying international pressure to cooperate (the FBI might happily trade some cooperation in getting a criminal from Sweden in exchange for them coming down hard on your .se domain on a Swedish server).

Kinda weird question:
I have a bunch of 2TB disks connected over various means that make them essentially unRAIDable, in either hardware or software (That uses the entire disk)
I'm looking for something that can span a disk image over various files on various separate disks.
I can run any operating system I need to for this.

Wait, what if I just mounted files as block devices in linux and let regular raid software take it from there?

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated, I'll answer as many questions in this thread as I can in the meantime.

Intel 750 or Samsung 950 Pro. If you want the fastest, look for NVME M.2 drives. These are drives that use a pci-e slot instead of a sata cable, meaning they can theoretically reach 4gb/s.

Samsung 850 Evo. They're relatively cheap, reliable and can reach up to 600mb/s. They also use standard SATA, so no fucking around with pci-e slots.

Main problems is all the tablet features seems to be gone, including touchscreen, camera, internet, sound, etc., not working and then the white writing in the bottom corner saying which version of windows it is

Sup /g/ I thought this would be a good place to post this; how do people decide which power supplies are good, and specifically, how good or bad certain series of power supplies from the same manufacturer are relative to each other? Like the corsair VS series being inferior to the CX in turn inferior to the HX etc. ?

And is there anything wrong about getting a non-80+ rated power supply if I don't care about the power efficiency and have proper cooling, AND have the PSU connected to a good UPS which can shield it from electrical inconsistency or surges?

Basically, all that matters to the consumer is modular vs non-modular, efficiency rating and noise. However, it's worth checking JonnyGuru to make sure you're not buying a lemon - there's lots of technical jargon that you probably won't care about... Until your power supply dies and bricks everything attached to it. Basically, find a power supply with the convenience features you want then check a reputable reviewer to make sure it's safe.

I checked JohnGuru and couldn't find anything about the Corsair VS series I was eying, which is apparently garbage for reasons I don't know.

Although I did find a review about the CX600 which I am now likely to buy, though it says something about it not meeting ATX specifications regarding having a hold-up time of at least 16ms (the CX600 had 10ms). Wouldn't make a difference to me imo since I have a UPS.

I just don't really understand the difference between say VS, CX, HX, etc. I mean, they're all power supplies, they all have pretty much the right cables for your typical single GPU build. You can always get SATA splitters. I don't know. And why does a 80PLUS rating matter if I don't really care much for electricity bills? I mean a bronze is about 80% efficient and a lower-tier supply is maybe 70-75% efficient. Doesn't seem to be worth the extra $20 for the certification for a meager 5% difference i.e. 25W etc.

Can you tell me why the VS series is crap compared to CX?

The VS series won't deliver the power it's rated at. They're mainly sold in developing countries since they assume that nobody is going to push their computer very far.

Hold-up time won't be an issue if you have a UPS, so I'd go for a CX series.

Odd, why wouldn't it?

Also my choice are between these two at the moment:

http://www.thermaltake.com/products-model_Specification.aspx?id=C_00001966

http://www.corsair.com/en-us/cx750-80-plus-bronze-certified-power-supply

The TT one has a 720W while the Corsair has 750W. The Corsair is more expensive by about $6. However, the TT one, although lower in wattage, is semi-modular while the Corsair is non-modular. And it seems that the TT is less efficient at 100% load than the Corsair (bronze) by ~2% so whatever. The TT also has a 14cm fan instead of the 12cm one on Corsair. Those are the only differences I noticed. The CX also has:
>4-Pin Peripheral Connector: 4
>PCI-E Connector: 4

So 4x4PCI-E connectors so 16 in total right? My motherboard needs 6, and the two cards would need at least 8 (but probably 16 -- I'm not sure). Semi-modular makes more sense doesn't it?

I'm not going to be pushing these to their load any time soon but I might get another 390x and have a double CF. Even then, I've used the calculator (http://outervision.com/power-supply-calculator at 100% cpu tdp +24h use) and at MOST my system would consume 710W (in CF) so the TT semi-modular supply would still be a viable, cheaper, option. Really lost atm. The system is a mid-high end and I'm going to stick with it for a long time.

>>53669217
Good thing you mention this because the Tt's operational temperature is upto 35° while the Corsair one is 30°. I'll provide enough ventillation/cooling for both though.

Usually you use the BIOS to pick which disk you want to boot from, then the bootloader (Like GRUB) to pick which OS on the previously selected disk you want to boot from. You can ignore the BIOS option, and on the default disk set the bootloader to look for OS's on other disks as well, not just the one the bootloaders on.
Just google "Multiple disk bootloader grub" and you'll find what you need.
Grub is probably already installed on your linux disk, you just might not have noticed it because it only sees one operating system on it's disk (Linux) and boots directly to that.
You can configure or install grub directly from linux.

It makes registry changes, creates appdata folders, and customises the files in "program files" specifically for your machine.

First define what you need. Heavy multitasking, hundreds of tabs in browsing, fast CPU performance, rendering ability, ability to handle VM's, fast networking, rigidity.
Once you've got all that set down, work out the raw specs you need for each task, then find a computer that gets the closest to those requirements.

For me, it was "I'm fucking sick of weak components breaking, structure wise. I don't need a high res screen, I want something with a 2+ hour high use battery life, and it has to be in this shop I got credit for because of my last laptops extended warranty.
There was one device I could find made exclusively of metal, so I chose it.
It's easy once you have defined your needs.
>>53665554
No. Not at all.
All that matters is your internet connection
(Well, so long as you don't have 1000+ torrents seeding, then your computer could be a factor, but even then your internet's gonna be what holds it back)
>>53665561
I'll tell you everything you need to know:
You plug all the screens you can into your graphics card. Your card might not be able to use all its ports at once. If so, running linux can fix this, even if the card manufacturer says it's a hardware constraint.
Want more? Add another card.
Want a game to run over multiple monitors? Your graphics driver may have an option to display all your screens as just one big screen to other programs.

Just install itunes on your PC, yes there's a windows version, there's been one for a decade and a half now, plug in the iPad, and hit "Update" when the popup shows up.
Or click on "(yourname)'s iPad) in itunes, and there'll be a big update button.

>Wait so, a power supply most DEFINITELY ALWAYS supplies its rated value?
Depends what you mean.
If you mean does it always use 100% regardless of what your computer's using, then no. A power supply only draws what your computer asks for at the time.
If you mean can a power supply only give out 80% of what it's rated at, then no, they can give out 100% of what they're rated at, they just use an extra 20% above that from the wall.
On that second one though, it's worth saying quite a lot of cheap power supplies can't actually give out what they're rated for, they'll just fry themselves. So people say buy a power supply with a rating at least 20% higher than what you think it'll use, so you only ever use 80% what the thing is rated for.. This has nothing to do with the efficiency, it's just a coincidence people use roughly the same numbers.

>>
>>53670953
While WINE is a kludge that doesn't run good, that's a fundamental issue with Microsoft failing to follow POSIX standards, the only modern day OS not to. PE parsing extensions actually run as fast as ELF binaries, but they don't handle Windows emulation (ie, it's just a container for code, same as ELF, rather than a solution to run Windows binaries on Linux).

Hey /sqt/, having a little issue with my C# program.

I'm creating an ATM simulation on Visual Studio using Windows Forms. I posted something last night but I ended up losing track of it. In the main menu form, you can go to the withdrawCash form and the checkBalance form but I'm having trouble moving the variable in withdrawCash 'balance' to checkBalance. On the withdrawCash form, I've converted the int balance variable into a string and attached it to the label in withdrawCash. I can't seem to figure out how to send it to the label on checkBalance however.

Any help?

If you're using a uSD to SD adaptor make sure the lock switch isn't on.
Try opening cmd, type "diskpart", "list disk", look at the disk number of your card, I'll use "disk 2" as an example. Then type "select disk 2", then "clean".
If this succeeds, type "clean all".
If it fails, there's a fair chance your card was fake and just overwriting old files, now it's died, or that it just died anyway and put itself in read only mode for safety.

The only cheaper ones anyone really buys are just seasonic rebrands, which are basically as good.

If you're supporting more than a single account, you should be storing all this data (account numbers, pin code, balance, transaction logs, etc) in a database and querying that rather than passing around data from form to form.

This sounds like a lot of effort at first but with SQLite it's usually only 2/3 lines to get started.
>>
I'm a little confused about .NET. When someone says they program in C#, is it safe to assume they mean C#.NET? Can C# be used with web development at all?

I could not understand this that you said.
>>
>>53671082
This amount is irrelevant. Specially outside USA.
>>
>>53671105
The ATM as it stands is only a single account, but using a database doesn't sound all that bad I guess.

I'm afraid I can't use SQLite though. The ask pretty much prohibits additional classes you have to download. Vanilla efforts only.
>>
>>53671107
>is it safe to assume they're talking about C#.NET?
Yes.
>Can I do webdev in it?
Yes, it's called ASP.NET though. There are also other frameworks.

>>53671118
Ultimately, code is code is code, the OS doesn't matter until you make a system call. ELF and PE and Mach-O are just containers for the code, along with metadata such as size, other libraries to pull in, etc.

Linux can handle PE (Window's preferred format) just as easily as ELF (Linux's preferred format), fundamentally, but that the container format being readable doesn't mean Linux can now handle system calls expecting Windows.

>>53671150
Might be time to talk to the client regarding their requirements, because reinventing the wheel is dumb as hell and "no dependencies" for a GUI simulation project is dumb and arbitrary and you should work to strike it off unless they unveil pretty compelling reasons.
>>
>>53671199
>but that the container format being readable doesn't mean Linux can now handle system calls expecting Windows

OK, so Linux is dumb because can't understand system calls. Why?

Just a class project amigo. Thanks for your help though.
>>
>>53671230
It can understand system calls, just not Microsoft's non-standard ones.

In the meantime, Linux devs do their best to give you the choice and ability, at a performance penalty inherent to correcting Microsoft's lack of compliance while Microsoft doesn't care to offer Windows users the same freedom to run Linux code.

I'm thinking of installing a GTX 980ti.

My case is Cooler Master's HAF 912.

I am wondering if i will run into issues with it fitting.
I haven't decided which brand (ASUS, MSI, EVGA is the order I will ikely shop).

I am also wondering if it's compatible with my motherboard. MOBO=Gigabyte GA-Z97X-SLI.

My power supply is a Corsair TX650; I would prefer to keep it to cut cost but will it be enough.

Please advise /g/
