I want to buy the cheesiest most gaymur mechanical out there but with good functionality.

How's the Logitech G910?

Other option is the Razer Chroma, but i don't want to buy anything Razer.

>I want to buy the cheesiest most gaymur mechanical out there

Why though?

Check out R.A.T. Keyboards, they look quite horrible.
>>

Black one if you change caps

Beige one if you keep them since dual color caps look nicer and some people like the vintage look.

I find it too yellow myself.

What's /mkg/ opinion on Ducky keyboards?

Do you have any issues with them?

Dying LEDs or broken switches?

I'm about to hit the accept button and order Shine 5 but maybe I've missed something.
>>
>>52053451
Ugly spacebars

LEDs users need to die
Also LEDs die soon

Ugly cases keysets can't fix

Good build quality and flashy lighting. I have a Shine 4 since a few months and no complaints so far.

Ducky is generally known for making good keyboards. Go right ahead.

>>52053477
My LEDs haven't died yet, and the ducky keyboard cases don't look that much different from those of that filco makes.

I don't think the spacebars are ugly.

Why are you so angry about things that other people enjoy?

So let's say that I'm getting tired of my wasd v2. How far over my head am I, if I wanted to completely outsource the parts for a gh60 myself? I think the only bother would be finding cherry plate-mount stabilizers. I know a guy who knows a guy who does laser-cutting and CNC work for possibly the case and plate, while I could get the diodes and switches soldered with my old hakko and a SMD station that I rigged out of an old toaster. Lets say that I buy the gh60 pcb (which is open source, thankfully), find switches, get the plate cut and either buy a case or make my own.
Pros: One of a kind, made exactly the way I want it.
Cons: Prototyping is time consuming, probably costly as well.

What does /mkg/ think? Honestly, a home made Ergodox would be much easier to make.

I assume the keyboard you have has a standard sculpted keycap profile to it. Your best bet is to buy DCS profile caps.
Use the picture to find out what unit size cap you need. Ex. A standard space bar is 6.25 units. A 1 unit keycap would be the size of the escape key.

Everything is decent, and then you see the design. I really dont get why anyone would buy these atrociously looking keyboards.
>>
>>52054749
I was hoping for non-blank keys, since then they'd match the white keys I already have. I might just have to get a full set from WASD Keyboards or something. The kicker is that I do have a non-standard right shift key (both are 1x2.25) so the whole thing is a pain in the ass.
>>
>>52054799
>Everything is decent, and then you see the design. I really dont get why anyone would buy these atrociously looking keyboards.
What's up with the design? Seems standard to me.

Is this an FC660M? Interestingly enough I have the black printed keycaps that come on the 2015 version (>>52054400), but they don't sell the keycaps separately. Almost no Leopold/Varmilo keysets are imported to the US, but you can probably find them on Aliexpress/Banggood.
>>
>>52054986
>Is this an FC660M?
Yes. Pretty awesome keyboard except for the difficulty in getting full keysets. Yours is similar to what I want, except the inverse. I want black outer keys and white inner.

>Almost no Leopold/Varmilo keysets are imported to the US, but you can probably find them on Aliexpress/Banggood.
Yeah, I got mine from Massdrop a long time ago. This would have been really easy but the batch I ordered back then had a manufacturing defect, so they canceled the grey/black one I ordered and I ended up getting solid white instead.

I got this for Christmas. Is it... good? People online were saying the razer green switches were pretty much the same as Mx Blue except a higher actuation point.

build quality tanked hardcore. the housing feels flimsy as shit and the keycaps are hot garbage.

I was going to buy a Mx Red keyboard anyway if I didnt get one for christmas. Does that make it any less shit for me? People online said it has a high actuation point for lower key travel, which sounds nice to me, since i've been used to scissor switches.

>>
>>52056156
if you're already used to scissor switches then it's probably not that bad of a tradeoff.

but the biggest thing is that razer ditched both Cherry and Khail (who at this point are just using the now open Cherry design to make their switches) in favor of their own "tactile" switches. No one really knows about the longevity of them because other aspects of the keyboard almost always die out in such a short timespan (like most other "gaming" oriented peripherals)

So, after having decided to go topre, wanting to get an HHKB, realizing that I use the function row far too much to be able to justify the aesthetic as fuck layout and other merits and deciding to go with a realforce, I just today realized that I can delegate all of the things I need the function row for to my magic trackpad which I have started using as of late due to my mouse killing my wrist.

Yes it is definitely a good board. Make sure you're okay with:
>the layout
>topre in general
>the fact that it has a plastic plate instead of a metal plate

If you like the HHKBP2 but are still open to other things, I highly recommend the Pok3r.

Also you can get a layout similar to the HHKBP2 via the hardware programming.

>>
>>52061734
You will inevitably have to replace a failed LED or ten; that's just the way of things. Why would you buy a backlit keyboard, though? Do you look at it while you type? And if you do: why do you think you need a luxury keyboard?
>>
>>52061750
I just thought it'd look cool. But if maintenance really is that much of a hassle I could settle for a non-backlit one.

(Oddly enough, I have soldered stuff for a part time job before, but I don't have any equipment of my own.)
>>
>>52061734

LEDs fail quite often.

You will either be stuck with a half dead board in a few months, or learn how to replace them.
>>
>>52061570
Do you touch-type qwerty already? Probably best to just learn to touch-type dvorak from the start as well.

If you get a Pok3r you can switch the layout with a dipswitch on the bottom to dvorak or colemak.

I would either recommend not looking at the qwerty labels to avoid confusion, or maybe just get blank keycaps.

Why would you use default keycaps anyway? There are way better quality ones on market.

>>52067614
>To be fair, even if LEDs die, you can just turn them off.

Of course but logically it's better to buy a keyboard without LEDs at all than pay extra and turn them off because they are dying.

The only concern about Filcos - I have almost exactly the same looking mechanical keyboard now and getting another classic keyboard is kind of boring.

It's just not something you need to concern yourself with. Plenty of inexpensive keyboards come with basic LEDs.

I'm saying you shouldn't have a requirement for no LEDs. You shouldn't care at all.

Given two boards that are exactly the same, except one has LEDs and is more expensive, you should only consider price and get the one without neon. Now in a reversed scenario, given two boards that are exactly the same, except one has LEDs and is less expensive, you should get the one that costs less, regardless of its LED status.
>>
>>52068201
Please elaborate. What is it that sets the filco apart from the ducky?

It's a rather vague term. Best I can define it in a conclusive way, it's a keyboard that doesn't require you to bottom out.

There are lots of other commonalities that aren't necessarily present in all scenarios, like use of springs or longer key travel. Then you can start saying super subjective bullshit like the quality or consistency are better.

I still don't see what makes filco better than ducky apart from the costar stabilizers.

Alright, what makes Topre boards so expensive? Also: how do they feel compared to cherry blues/reds, rubberdomes or laptop switches (scissor switches?).
>>
>>52067799
>Only real poorfags would think than higher price means higher quality.
Higher price means higher quality more often than not. Be it food, cars or shit as simple as cosmetics. I dare you to find an industry where higher price doesn't mean higher quality. And don't say fashion now: high fashion has higher quality than anything apart drom custom tailored clothes. Custom tailored clothes however lack the desired design.
>>
>>52069031
>Alright, what makes Topre boards so expensive?
Very niche, yet well-constructed product.

>how do they feel compared to cherry blues/reds
Not at all comparable in terms of the force curve. It's much, much smoother.

>rubberdomes
Since they actually have rubber domes, it's perhaps the most comparable to a rubber dome with membrane as far as the tactility is concerned. It's smoother, snappier, and more consistent; the word "refined" comes to mind.

>scissor switches
They aren't short-throw like scissor switches.

>>52069084
Higher price is an indicator of higher quality, but it does not mean higher quality.
