Can I ask laptop buying questions here?
I'm looking for a laptop for me mum, with a budget of ~$300. 90% of what she does is stream k-dramas on shifty asian websites. I considered a chromebook, but she stated an aversion to the idea of having her files stored online.
Searching up newegg returns only a few options that aren't dell, or hp. How is the build quality for acer laptops in this price range? What about toshiba? Will those last for a good number of years? Will someone with her usage habits want more than 4gb RAM?

Since OP is a flaming retard, I'll use his thread to host my question
Are there any fairly cheap laptops that have M.2 or a slot for another HDD/SSD ?
Also, any laptops up to like 600 with good build quality that will last at least 5 years, 8gb of ram, so that it would last 5 years without any upgrades, a CPU that won't shit itself in half a year because it's not cooled or some shit, GPU isn't necesarry, but doesn't hurt I guess
Found some Asus X555LI with 8gb of ram, i7 - 5500U, R5 320M and 1TB HDD, the only problem I have with it is that it's using a meme resolution, well and no additional slot for SSD

Yeah, that's not gonna happen. There's not a single mobile GPU on the market that's as powerful as a 780/290X, let alone available in laptops around 600.
You're lucky to even get a dedicated GPU at £600.
Thanks for the laugh OP.

I doubt she will need more than 4 gb of ram.
find a used GL771JM or similar

I looked for a little and I think this computer would be the best.

I was not sure if she ever uses cds so I made sure it has an optical drive.

I appreciate the effort.

980m is as powerful as 780. It's only in $2000+ laptops though.

Buy a $300 laptop with 4gb RAM and an i7, then spend the other $300 on either improving or saving up for a desktrop

*i3 I mean sorry
Buy laptop with best cpu you can get that also has an expresscard slot. Buy egpu kit, buy cheap psu, buy used gpu. You can just sell gpu and get a better one when you can. Just make sure your cpu is powerful enough to not bottleneck for 2-3 generations. Psu can be the cheapest btw as a gpu won't draw much power on it's own.
>>51951299
How long have those been out anon? I doubt he could find one for $600.
>>51956430
I just realized expresscard is old tech, I think thunderbolt can be used for egpus too. But thunderbolt is apple approved, so yeah.
