Honestly you should try the Nokia N9, you can get one of them for pretty cheap

It's a full GNU/Linux mobile phone that runs everything, has revolutionary UX that no phone today has matched and DOES NOT LAG unlike pretty much all the options you have (My N9 does most actions more responsive than my Nexus 5)

It's design is also top notch, symmetrical in all axis and uses a combo of AMOLED + Clearblack that only other phone that uses it is Lumia 950, the whole OS is designed that you can't even distinguish where the screen starts and ends
>>
OP, download the Complete Mobile Device guide to look at the specs, prices, and review scores of most major phones from the past 3-4 years.

Honestly, no LTE in tyool 2015 is just too much of a drawback for anything else about the phone to matter. Sorry, bud.
>>
>>51939865
I'll suggest the Redmi Note 2 for its value at $160. PDAF camera, swappable battery, microSD & dual SIM, nice manufacturing quality and fast (for that price tag, as well as for like 99% of Android apps, emulators and games) Helio X10 chipset.

Note this phone applies to countries where you have sufficient access to ITU global FDD-LTE bands.

The USA unfortunately has none.

Aren't the new nexus devices too expensive? I mean, I know the 6P is a real flagship and the 5X is a solid mid-tier, but they were so cheap back in the day
>>
>>51941291
True that. I would rather have an Xperia or Galaxy if you ask me to pick a flagship device because you get more proven quality with Samsung or Sony.
>>
>>51941291
Most of the buyers of these devices want a status symbol or a "very luxurious self-reward" of sorts.

Not even 10% will have rationally analyzed their own processing power / RAM needs (or whatever other requirements) and arrived at the conclusion that they need a flagship device.

So actually, the manufacturers would be pretty stupid to make these very cheap - even if they could make them much cheaper, it probably wouldn't work out in their favor.

>>
>>51941422
Specs like on a Redmi 2 2GB (~$110), Redmi Note 2 (~$160), Mi4c (~$250) or whatever work for that.

Now, if your standard for "good camera" is arbitrarily what the real flagships have (but somehow not yet those of a decent DSLR / MILC / high-end P&S), well, good job! You now "need" a flagship.
Many people do these kinds of mental gymnastics, apparently it's fun or something.

It was kind of hard to understand what you meant by this. Maybe I'm too tired.
But yeah, a good camera is necessary for me. I like to travel and its a lot of fun to get selfies with random people and no, my point and shoot real camera is no good for this.

It can sound weird, but a good selfie camera is really important for what I use smarphones for.

I wouldn't. I'd get the Z3 instead if I had to pick last year's flagships.

But the 2GB RAM variant (mentioned it, right?) has 2GB RAM. So that's kinda addressed.

You can try to buy an Indian manufactured variant that never happened with rumored downgrades that hence also obviously never happened.

For all I know, all Redmi Note 2 that were sold have a microSD slot and removable battery.

> no card slot

Well, I can relate somewhat. No microSD is an annoying trick the flagships of many a lineup pull to get you to upgrade sooner...

sorry I'm not familiar with this app. I'm sure there's an alternative though. Google tells me there are some alternatives.

Not familiar with this app though but there are some alternative ebook readers. I'm still trying to find one that I like though (as cancerous as it is, there is a kindle app from amazon that works just fine)

There are some alternative apps out there but a lot of them suck ass. There's an app on the play store that you can install that recommends windows phone apps. It's from microsoft but I forget what's it's called.

Any rooted / bootloader unlocked android is.

Not only are there many ROMs with massive customization options (some even as stock - MIUI, Cyanogen and derivatives come to mind), root also enables a ton of other customizations like the many alternative launcher UIs.

This is most likely a case of: "Get some better IEM / headphones."

You can go audiophil herp over the DAC in Xiaomi phones or muh Wolfson DAC on dem Samsungs, but actually most phones have a decent DAC.

I am absolutely fine with having a poorfag tier phone.
We've come at a point where €150 phones can be very capable and decent. It has a SD410 and 2GB of RAM, 16GB memory, microSD slot, dual sim and an acceptable camera. Battery lasts me for days on end when on standby and I get enough screen on time to get through the day. Suits my needs perfectly and doesn't burn a hole in my wallet.

I don't even know what use I would have for phone that's 2 to 4 times as expensive.

So I'm in a contract with EE and I just got my iPhone unlocked as someone at work wants to buy it. I just ordered a z5c to replace it, this doesn't effect the contract right? I do still keep all my data allowance, texts and call etc don't I? It seems pretty logical but they always try to fleece more money out of you by telling you to buy out your contract for an upgrade etc (the z5c is unlocked so no worries regarding the sim being accepted).
