>>

I don't know why you would hate my PSU, since you can't even tell what it is from the pictures. But anyway, size != power. It's small yes, but it's also 750w 80 plus gold, so it's not like I'm short on power. I don't really know what you're trying to get at by saying you can have all your fans.
>>
>>51871072
Not too bad for a first build anon. Good job!

does someone know if it's possible to install a H100 (or any dual fan rad) in the Coolermaster 690 II?
>>
>>51872968
After some quick googling (something you shouldn't be afraid to do next time btw) I found the h100i should fit in the top spot in push or pull no problem, but NOT push/pull.
>>
>>51873019
sorry, I should have been more specific.

I know the H100 and H100i will fit in the top but according to this the newer GTX uses different spacing for the fans and I'm not sure if my case is compatible with the new spacings

http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/forum/hardware-canucks-reviews/69218-corsair-hydro-h100i-gtx-h80i-gt-review-4.html

>be aware the radiator uses the newer 15mm fan spacing standard. Not all cases which have dual top mounted exhaust ports use this offset and the majority of older cases use 20mm spacing.
>>
I can still hear my noctuas tbqh. They're quite, but I can still here them.

I thought they were supposed to be inaudible.

25mm.jpg

>>51873099
That's a simple thing to find out. Just measure the spacing between two adjacent mounting holes on your case. (For example, top right mounting hole of left fan, and top left mounting hole of right fan). Picture sorta related. 25mm spacing on a radiator.

It should be pretty obvious whether your spacing is 20mm or 15mm.

You're supposed to slow them down quite a lot. Being high quality fans they will still move a decent amount of air even at slow speeds.

I had to do the opposite to pic related. The large fan was making a whirring noise so I had to speed it up by 100 rpm or so. The wind noise is still pretty much inaudible to where I sit.

already fixed that. there's a fan in front of the drive to keep it cool. there's a couple millimeters too little of room in behind the front bezel and the case steel to mount it there, so a compromise had to be made.

also can see a Socket AM2/3/+ to LGA775/1156 adapter there to mount an AMD heatsink on an Intel CPU. Messing around with the idea of setting that up as well... but I need to find the nylon pins that plug into it to lock it.

there's also a 9800GTX+ for fitment purposes since that'll be about the size of a 6970 if not a tad longer.

I didn't know they made adapters for that.

This is an AM3+ board. The stock AMD cooler was really loud and only 3-pin so it wouldn't slow down nicely. I cut the feet off an Intel fan and it fits over the heat sink pretty nicely. And it's PWM so it's very quiet.

AIO cooler pump being loud as fuck.

I bought a 120radiator version as well because it was dirt cheap. Plugged it in to check it's noise level, while slightly more silent, it seems to have way too little water inside as the airbubbles didnt settle in for 5mins of running.

I'm going back to the old regular cooling in the next build.

Did any company outside of silverstone ever make a vertical facing case, where you don't suffer from gpu sag due to card weight being held primarily by the case? The FT02 isn't bad but is rather dated by todays standards.

First I've ever heard of it. It's a neat idea, but this one looks pretty cramped. If there were an ATX version with enough 3.5" bays I'd probably consider picking one up if the price was reasonable. And honestly I like cases that have a subdued, traditional exterior design. Nice solid color, no LEDs or creases that try to make your case look like a Ferrari.
>>
>>51883415
That's exactly my point, it prioritises 5.25" bays over 3.5"/2.5" bays/mounting slots, which makes it less than desirable, and from what I remember was fairly cramped behind the motheboard space.

>>51892227
simply stating what Nvidia recommend. And 2 980tis would never draw 850 watt by themselves. Again, merely the nvidia recommended wattage for a whole system with 2x980tis.

>barely pull

If you took a look at the link I posted you'd see a single 980 ti drawing 233 watts at gaming load. 254 at synthetic benching. The comment was that 4 980tis wouldn't pull even close to 1kw with synthetic load. Yes. Yes they would as simple math would tell you.

this whole thing started because of the "synthetic" comment. When running synthetic tests, you're giving your system the go ahead to run full tilt balls to the wall. Meaning each card will pull as much as possible. Not including CPU. As for your dual gtx 590 setup, for normal gaming load you're fine. Running any benches would personally make me nervous as you're probably brushing the ceiling of your PSU. Not a problem if it is a good one.

>>51892148
it is apparent you've either A. Never watercooled. or B. Someone fooled you into thinking you need more than 1 pump. The only dual pump setups I've ever seen are redundancy setups where one pump would automatically kick on if the 1st pump drops below a certain gallons per minute.

>>
>>51892480
neither. r9 390 and wait for something better to come along. With the fury X you're paying top dollar for a 4gb vram card (HBM or not it is still 4gb).

As a fan and user of AMD, I would recommend the 980ti > Fury X still. Fury X is just not "There" for me. Zero overclocking, 4gb vram, CLC cooling required just to run stock. I'm not one to usually say "hurr wait for next gen" but in this scenario, wait for next gen.

Personally I play at 1440 60hz with a single 390 no problem. If you're talking 80hz+ then you'd need more power.
>>
>>51892525
Honestly I only ever heard of noctua from /g/. I've used fans from Cougar, Noiseblocker, BeQuiet!, etc. All within the $15-$17 range. All quiet. All moving at least 50CFM with hydro-bearings. If people want to spend their money on noctua fans let them.

Even though I'm currently running pretty much solely custom builds, I still love the SFF prebuilts. They're so cute and have some neat features, like this Thinkcentre with its toolless mounts.

I just reactivate, the automated phone service is quicker than a reinstall, even more so when you factor in reinstalling programs and setting everything up.

So I bought my case and went for my first test fit, I've got a 960 and a modular power supply coming tomorrow, so that should get rid of the spaghetti.

Going to take everything out and paint the internals black sometime soon, do you guys think it would look better black?

Also I need some advice for cooling, I want to have the case as stock looking as possible, currently the only thing that hints at good guts is the thumbscrews and you can see the noctua fan from the back in the whole where the psu is supposed to go. I'm thinking ill cut the underneath of the bezel out and put mesh in there as well to mount a 120mm on the front, and ill cut a hole to mount a 120mm on the bottom of the case under the gpu since I won't be using SLI anyway.

Also, is it possible to buy USB 3.0 front headers? currently it has usb 1.0 not even plugged in since it has the same kind of plugs as the power button and power light. Would be nice to get front usb 3

That's fairly neat actually. I don't think painting the interior matters when the outside is so... classic

>I don't think painting the interior matters when the outside is so... classic
It doesn't really, but I'd like to make it look as snazzy inside as I can, I might tear it all down after christmas to improve cooling and paint it, it runs hot with a 570 in there atm, hopefully the 960 runs cooler.

*guy
Also I was telling you not to buy it in that other thread.

>>51914833
I checked [your dubs and] that build earlier and it seemed fine for what you have there. The cables could be tidied up a bit but otherwise there isn't much to be done without buying more stuff.
>>
>>51914925
It will be worth the purchase when I'm done, if I can get thermals right I'm going to sound dampen the case as much as I can as well... The front of the case wasn't really designed to have a fan there even though the chassis can hold one, the 120mm i have there now just pulls air from the drive bay where the psu is instead of outside the case.

Nothing I can't fix though

It would restrict my build from having 4 fans, optical and 4 drives.

SFX PSUs just don't have the entire interface. (My big gripe, not saying because it's small that it can't preform the same)

Well for one, the fan argument is invalid. You can use splitters off of motherboard headers. Even if you only had two headers, you can split them into four at least. Besides that though, It's nof an sfx psu. It's a regular ATX PSU that happens to be a little bit tiny.
