I have 3:www workspace where I usually put firefox, I mainly use chromium for web dev purposes so it has it's own separate workspace.
I'd stop using skype if most people I know stopped using it, otherwise I don't have any other means of contacting them.

True, but the original point makes no sense. In OS X, you have both Quartz and XQuartz to rice, whereas on GNU/Linux, you are left only with xorg. XQuartz can achieve anything that GNU/Linux desktops can and on OS X you have the benefit of playing with both (at the same time, if you're using rootless).
