Challenge idea to get things started.
Take one of some of your characters and show what they were like at different ages. What they were like a little kid, what they'll be like as an adult, etc..

I am intrigued by slightly older Kat, also I'm amazed her life seemingly turned out normal in the end. I'd love to see more of these with your characters.
>>1858155
What's behind her back in the last pic? Is it the uzi? Also, she took the staples out of her face wound?
>>1858155
I just noticed she looks almost normal in her oldest form... what happened? She found looove?
>>1858419
Thanks, she became a master of martial arts after she got through college and sorted out her shit.
I'll have to think on what character to do next.
>>1858443
Yes, she's packing heat. Also scars do tend to heal over time, or she just didn't like how they looked? eeh
>>1858477
Either she finally got her craziness sorted out and settled down into a fairly normal life, but has to fend off people who want revenge on her,
Or she's just gotten much better at hiding her craziness, it's hard to tell.
>>1857979
>>1858588
One of/both of the tech girls next?
>>1858588
She seems to go back and forth from modest to skimpy clothes as she ages.
I almost feel like when she retires she'll just give up on clothes entirely, then get buried in a burka.
Zero/negative values for leg and torso length don't look as bad as I expected.
>>1858585
>>1858588
I hope she finally got a normalish life, I'm a sucker for happy endings. And oh gosh little Vasuda is so cute!

Pre-teen and adult Valera.
>>1858816
Was she a Vietnamese child prostitute or something?
>>1858824
No, she was a knight.
>>1857979
Pre-teen and adult Margaret.
>>1858824
Not sure where you get that... does little girl with twintails automatically equal Vietnamese prostitute?
Also, not Asian.
>>1858827
FWIW, not that anyone really cares, Valera is my kisekae representation of a NPC from a D&D campaign that is a cleric of Red Knight, a god of strategy under Tempus that uses a knight chess piece as a symbol so I occasionally toss that iconography on her clothes. That's pretty much it though as far as kisekae goes, it isn't a RP thing.
Her kisekae body model is generally the one I go back to when I'm trying out things in the program as it's my favorite of the ones I've created so I end up using her a lot as a base to experiment with hair and outfits.
>>1857979
Angie from pre-teen to high schooler to adult glamour model
>>1858849
I just don't often see many little girls wearing mascara and lipstick.
You know, besides 3rd world child sex workers
>>1858885
Last I checked people have both eyelashes and lips that most of the time have a darker coloration from the skin of the face, so that doesn't automatically mean makeup; I go for a much brighter red if I'm trying to do actual lipstick and I prefer to add lashes to the kisekae default eyes. I've gotten so used to using facemarks to represent lips that the lack of them makes the faces look odd and unfinished to me.
You can have drawn-in eyelashes that don't mean that character is wearing mascara. For an example of a little girl with drawn lashes, have a Nanako.
>>1858590
aite
One thing I like about the challenge is that it can potentially portray 'story' as the ages go along.
>>1858592
Like here for instance. Vasuda here got lost in the wilderness when she was young. And then survived thanks to discovering a weird control animals ability and being really good with a bow. So she made it back as a teen, but then has missed out on a lot of important education stuff, and as a result she then has to work her way up from being an adult entertainer to having her powers discovered, and then subsequently becoming some sort of agent. and it just so happened that she didn't have a lot of clothing in two of those phases.
Kind of similar case here, really.
>>1858943
Holy crap, mechanic Karen is best Karen. I'd be interested in seeing some of the heroes like Emreld and the Fire hero too.
I tried to make some characters from a game I really like. Do you think I got it?
>>1858947
Well... in the sense that they're wearing the same clothing, sure. I'd be surprised if you could do better using K-Kisekae, but that's in part because the program really isn't suited to recreating anything from Psychonauts. K-ON models just can't get that slightly warped, slightly grotesque charm that permeates the game clear through, and also I've never seen a "boy" made in this program that didn't have girl hips. Raz is scrawny, but he's certainly not effeminate.
If we had this program, but with base models from Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt instead of K-ON, then Psychonauts could be made wonderfully.
>>1858955
>Psychonauts in Panty and Stocking style
Now you're making me sad because I'll never see it because nobody ever draws fanart of this game outside of Tumblr.
>>1858946
Maybe later.
(technically Tori and Karen are heroes though as it turns out.)
>>1858956
Going way over/going negative with slider values opens up a lot of stylistic venues for making weird Kisekae characters. Especially with things one might not think of, like leg-bottom width and eye sizes. Though it's way easier to make simplistic or stylized faces with all the tools provided. Sadly, the arm slider doesn't seem to uncap properly and the hands always remain very delicate.
In messing around, I actually discovered something: If you make the size of the head WAY huge (the 'chin' sliders, with width and height that is) there's actually a normally-shaped bald head behind the hair! Whaaat, come on pochi/whoever makes this program, there's an easy way to make a bald option!
>>1858955
>and also I've never seen a "boy" made in this program that didn't have girl hips
For more "slender" males, I give them a butt/thigh width of around -70, and a torso width around 0-10, just "a tad wider than to actually meet the hip outline" (may or may not be edited in PS or whatever program, afterwards).
Looks somewhat convincing to me, YMMV though ...
Also, shoulder width around 150. This is rather essential, although that "extra meat" under their arms starts to look weird when you move the arms up ...
Also, some face shaping using very subtle patches of #30 facemarks.
Lips are facemark #41, btw.
Also, this is how I ended up shaping noses for now. Tried around with many different approaches of that "outline-highlight-shadow"-thing, until I just skipped the "outline" at some point.
Note #1: been following this somewhat "realistic" approach for a while now, dunno if you like it. The "I've just been getting used to how they look" thing gets really strong after a while ...
Note #2: my cheapo monitor apparently has its very own idea of color saturation and gamma curves. On my laptop for instance, these screenshots tend to look quite a bit darkish and desaturated. Just FYI ...

The key to eliminating girlyhips on dudes is basically using one of the wider waist settings and perhaps reducing butt size a bit. This would make sense since actually a lot of sexual attraction's based around the waist-to-hip ratio (aka an hourglass figure), so eliminating that goes a long way to making a guy look masculine. Then there's a ton of face stuff that depends on stylistics and crap.
>>1859236
Why would a girl attempting to pass as a guy ever go shirtless? Though more importantly, how did she succeed in hiding her tits?
I really want backstory behind this.
>>1859237
It totally wasn't part of her plan to lose the shirt, but here's how she pulls it off.
the image is just some dumb excuse to show off male characters while also technically not breaking /e/ rules lol.

>>1859275
>the squashed faces
Well, I'm not entirely sure what you mean by "squashed", but at least something helpful, eventually. Thanks for that!
Actually, I really wanted to get away from those typical "huge heads with even bigger eyes on tiny shoulders". As in "more realistic", even if just to "some" extent.
So I tried to give them actual chins, moved the eyes way up with the eyebrows almost directly above, tried to shape their noses more like that really dominant part of a face they always are IRL.
Actually imported quite a few jb photos into the game screen for comparison. Found out that, to get closer to where I wanted, I had to make their shoulders much wider (around 120 to 160, actually) and their heads much smaller (somewhere between -100 and -150 at a general body height around 60). Facial proportions are still quite far away from actual IRL, but - IMHO - much better than the default K-On chicks for instance. (At some point I even tried to make an actual Rowan Blanchard cover, this totally didn't work out though ...)
Anyway, that's about how I ended up with what you see ... Most annoying downsides are those long and thin necks, and elsewhere, the huge thigh gaps, and triangle-shaped feet though.
But I've kinda gotten used to see those, apparently ...
>try to make robots ala OP
>get distracted, end up making some kind of shadow creature
I'm okay with this.
Also got inspired by >>1856852 to take a crack at making a frankenstein's monster

>Please keep it /ecchi/
I actually just chimed in because someone mentioned male body shapes, and I thought I had something to contribute. Didn't really expect those reactions though, had to post something about it. Aside from that, got your memo :3
>which, being honest, I can't tell if they are male or female
Lena and Rebecca aren't too pleased about this (but I'll spare you some reaction image).
>>1859297
You can't really make a character in this game look both 'realistic' and good due to the highly symbolic nature of it's style. Although, if you want to try, you might want to go to >>>/ic/ and read the sticky.
Can you put a picture you used as model next to one of the characters you made from it? (Censor, if necessary.) It'd be easier to show where everything went wrong when you have a direct comparison. Pic related from about a year ago; now with facemarks.
>>1859322
Noyce - as a matter of fact, it was exactly that post from many months ago which convinced me to try and actually follow that kind of brick road further (with most of my characters already existing in earlier, more conventional versions).
As for your pic from now, I'd definitely say, make that head even more narrow (and probably longer), shoulders wider, butt is still too big ... but this would probably lead to an unfortunate trade-in at other features, again.
As for using hair parts for the neck: I (ab)use head tilts to simulate "looking at each other" so often that I never really went into that (same with using several hidden characters for more elements to play with - as much as I totally appreciate what people like mouse achieve at that, I want to keep those guys "portable" and be able to just quickly mess a bit with head tilt or arm position without having to readjust over 9000 hair bits ...).
>You can't really make a character in this game look both 'realistic' and good
Dunno - "good" is pretty relative here. I started to "work" with kisekae more than 2 years ago, and everytime I made major changes on my characters, the older versions soon started to look quite ridiculous to me - exactly those I considered quite "good" just a few weeks before.
I think it's really much about what you expect to see, what you are used to see, what you have seen right before (also "photos of real persons" or "anime characters"), and especially what you have happily ignored for so long, just to get "that" very special aspect that brings you sooo incredibly close to how you always wanted her to look like ...
>>1859379
(Board complained about TL;DR)
>Can you put a picture you used as model next to one of the characters you made from it?
I can't - neither made screenshots nor saves from these experiments. Also, aside from that one attempt at Rowan B. (which mostly failed because of her slightly pear-shaped head, which definitely isn't available in kisekae), I never actually tried to copy existing persons again.
Lena (left one of those two posted above) really has at least 10 different "mothers", her dad (that gray-haired guy next to her on my earlier post) started as my first attempt ever to make a male character until he suddenly looked quite a bit like my older cousin, so I tried to emphasize certain features, lost track, went elsewhere ...
I used Brighton Sharbino images only to get closer to that very medium blonde hair color (which IMO always looks way too greenish when using Pochi's presets) on another girl who is currently "parked" in a text file, because I'm not happy with her for other reasons ...
W.A. Bouguereau (look him up at wikipedia for examples) gave me quite a few hints on faces ...
btw, this is the earliest version of Lena I ever sreencapped.
Gee, Derrick. How come your mom let's you have TWO girlfriends?

I've had this on the backburner for a while (long enough that I doubt anyone remembers Coille (i'm trying to reuse characters and post more than once every 3 months i swear)), so I finally decided to finish it up. Was originally going to have three adventurers, but I ran out of space.

I'm trying to go for a more semi-90's look to my characters (closer to something like http://www.zerochan.net/899558 instead of http://www.zerochan.net/1921232), back when the gap between nose and mouth were a wee bit closer (if that's the "squished" look your talking about). But I could be doing it all wrong--wouldn't be the first or last.
>>1859737
I think the problem might be eye height, normally on a face, the top of the nose would align with the middle of the eyes when open, on your old ones that was the case, now the top of the nose aligns more with the top of the eyes, gives the impression the eyes sit too low on the face, that's my take on it at least.
>>1859676
That middle one is so sad. What's the story there?

>>1859554
I really started to like the lipstick, but if it doesn't look appealing than I guess it's gotta go.
What do you guys think?
>>1859760
Eye shadow's way too heavy on 3 and 4 imo, lipstick would work, but it's gotta be shaped more to a lip like shape, it looks just like a black circle slapped on as it currently stands.
>>1859765
I'm thinking about forgoing makeup altogether and just letting her chill natural style. What do you think?
>>1859768
Yeah, the natural look'll work well, but the character's meant to be goth right? (I'm guessing that's the look anyway), so lipstick and a bit of eye shadow wouldn't be amiss.
>>1859756
Turns out using telekinesis in a private school isn't exactly smiled upon. Especially when paired with pent up irritation from bullying and isolation from inexplicably having a third eye, so after tearing a significant chunk out of the place she sort of got expelled.
And then almost put into juvy, except she decided for some reason she'd attempt to erase everyone's memory about the whole incident, but that worked too well and caused everybody immediately related to her to kind of forget who she was entirely, so then homeless happened.
However, only superhero agencies who'd probably keep really explicit tabs on this sort of stuff remembered who she was, so she managed to get lucky and got a shot at redeeming that whole fiasco.
I kinda wanna bring back daily challenges. How about Yanderes? Be it an existing character, or your own character.
>>1859776
Is that the redemption incident there? Because it looks like she's about to get an offer to suck dick for cash.
>>1859760
Can you do the eye shadow more like so? I know she's a weird goth, but eye shadow is really only supposed to go on the top lid.

>>1859807

>>1859807
That was difficult.
>>1859838
Imma get this makeup lookin' right if it kills me.
>>1860037
eye shadow's great now (imo), lipstick's not quite right I don't think, but I can't even put a finger on what it is, or maybe it just looks off to me.
>>1860037
Jeez man it shouldn't be this complicated.
Put the markings slightly above the center of the eye so only the top of the oval sticks out (you can make it higher the heavier you want the makeup to look), and actually rotate them around to match the angle of the eyes.
And I don't know if this is just a personal choice by you or an oversight, but if I were making a black-and-white character i'd probably turn the very clearly not black-and-white face blush off.
>>1860042
She isn't black and white, her skin is just insanely pale because she's a goth. Think Raven from the Teen Titans cartoon.
I kind of like the eyeshadow the way it is now - to the point where I jumped the gun and added it to her other costumes.
Aren't we done with this shit by now?

Yup.
You can go home now it's over.
>>1860046

>>1860051
the english is too good to be him.
I really like Caroline's new look. Her eyeshadow is tamed but a little messy - but I think that's okay because she is a weird, anti-social goth chick with a skin condition.
I'm having a lot of fun and I ended up really enjoying the criticism I got.

>Rixyl was a farmer's daughter and regular spitfire from a young age, always picking fights with the older kids of the village. Many of the adults in the village feared that the fighting would ultimately lead to the life of a bandit.
>All of that changed, however, when a roving band of raiders ripped through the village. Vardesh, an Orc barbarian passing through town, helped Rixyl and the rest of the villagers defeat the brigands and save their home.
>It was then that Rixyl Realized that she was a big fish in a small pond and, after saying her farewells to her family and friends, left with Vardesh to learn the ways of the barbarian.
>The barbarian brought Rixyl back to his clan as for her to better learn the ways of the barbarian.
>Vardesh explained to his new Elven ward that the ways of the barbarian were arduous and fraught with danger and that a lifestyle of battle and austerity was required.
>He then gave her a set of leather armor and marked her face with ram's blood, the mark of a warrior, Vardesh explained,. He also explained that, when her training was complete, she could chose a mark of her own.
>15 years later, a small elven village sees the return of one of their own. After having become both a full-fledged barbarian and the mother of three darling but rambunctious Orc boys, Rixyl and her new family have since moved back in with her old family.

>Born into a large and growing family, Ziqua was the daughter of the head plutarch of the Dwarven capital of Giledzar. Many a fellow plutarch believed that Ziqua would follow in her mother's footsteps and take her place when she came of age.
>Ziqua, however, despite being quite shy for a noble child, was known for being quite wise and outspoken for a child. She was mare interested with keeping her home safe from those who would wish to do her family harm.
>Therefore, Ziqua had decided to join the Platinum Guard, the Dwarves who guard the Council of the Coin and keepers of order in the halls of Giledzar.
>Ten years down the line and Ziqua goes down in the history books as the youngest Dwarf to be recruited into the Platinum Guard.
>A year after her recruitment, Ziqua saves the life of her mother from a would-be assassin. The Council of the Coin then promote her to the rank of Captain.
>After a series of skirmishes that ended with the destruction of a splinter cell, Ziqua, Captain of the Platinum Guard, settles down at the age of 25 and marries the son of a renowned architect and births a family almost double the size of her own.
>Five years later, A group of thieves attempts (and fails) to break into to Vaults of Giledzar.
>The thieves manage to escape empty handed, but manage to leave behind a strange emblem. The Council is in an uproar as they try to find the best person for the job.
>Ziqua is brought before the council and is called back into action. She humbly accepts her mission and kisses her husband and children goodbye, promising to return as soon as she can.
>After trailing the thieves for a couple of months, her search takes her to the small farming village of Aravyn. The Elves seem more than happy to aid her in her hunt for the thieves.

code?
your girls are best
What the fuck do you people even do with all the codes you're constantly begging for. Just jack off to them? Can you not just do that with the picture that was already posted?
>>1860424
some people make their own characters using the coded character as a base
>>1860426
Nah I think it's just the jacking off. Most of the time people are asking for codes of really simple characters. And even when they do ask for complex ones they certainly don't seem to be retaining any of the complex parts or learning to do them themselves.
So yeah. I'm guessing they just take the code, take the characters clothes off, put them in simple sexual poses and fap.
Man I hate having to try and hide hair. Really wish that bald option existed even for weird crap like this.
also happy 4th anniversary of skyrim existing or something I guess
>>1860431

Great Katia. Love the robe!
>>1860557
I just don't see the point. Every body looks almost exactly the same. The poses are quite limited, and given the relative skill level of most people in these threads with the program, that's even less poses you could ever possibly put them in. Seems like you'd just constantly be fapping to the exact same thing.
Plus, you're now officially on the same mental level as Sachmet. Just let that sink in. How it feels to be the same as him.

>>1860674
So sachmet was Hitler all along. Really it makes perfect sense when you think about it.
>>1860680
Now let's think about what we're saying for just a minute here.
Hitler's art is actually worth something. Not on its own merits, I hear, but there are people who will pay cash moneys for it. Sachmet... could not achieve this.
>>1860709
You misunderstand. Sachmitler isn't trying to post art, he's posting weapons. Weapons designed to kill people from sheer awfulness. Be warned when seeing his posts, seeing them could kill you.
>>1860669
If it makes you feel any better, here's her code:
http://pastebin.com/rZSg68xt
I highly suspect that none of this even would be possible prior to the face-marking update. Then again that was like 6 months ago so I got no idea how long ago you attempted to create her.
ok how about some odd challenge?:
>The queen summoned me to her castle. She informed me that her dear king and prince had been captured by some manner of necromancer, and that she needed me, Lady Erbeth, to retrieve them - before they face some manner of unspeakable fate.
>However I'm loathe to admit that I likely will not survive the trip alone, considering the last known signs of any necromancer were towards the Rumbling Ridge - and a dreadful, hot wave blasts from its heights. Heavens know what manner of fire burns within there.
>Of course, as a knight, it's not within my frank capacity to back down from such a task, so I do implore any other brave warriors to take up arms with me.
So post pictures and codes of a character with a CLASS you'd like to join this knight. Due to character limitations her party will probably only consist of three or four other people, but other characters might sneak in as NPCs or Bandits or whatever.
>>1860722
>join my autistic fanfiction and make characters for me
Nah
I tried doing that nose thing that mouse does, not sure if I got it right.
>>1860730
The side curve could maybe be darker. mouse might also be overlapping the curve with a skin-colored circle which makes it look less vertically symmetrical - make the nose look more angled down rather than sideways.
Layering and softness is also important (like making sure the nose curve is above the blush gradient). mouse uses a ton of really subtle gradients and small detail lines on the mouth and eyebrows to make the face look less flat overall, which is a consideration when putting that much "3Dish" detail into just the nose.
>>1860722
Your girl there needs a professional Duelist, methinks, or at least a professional snarker. Luckly for her, she can have both.
Boy these new belts sure are nifty.
But anywho, after replaying skyrim a bit for the first time in forever and fighting a dragon priest I thought to myself "I bet this could make a cool character idea for kisekae"
So basically here's a Dragon Priestess (and her 2 assistants). She's the leader of a tribal cult that worships dragons, and that's all the chuuni story I have for now.
>>1861015
Wow, she looks cool! Code for her?
>>1861029
Sure
http://pastebin.com/2hBQEvUi
Note: She takes up 3 character slots, so to make sure she looks right you need to have them in the right order (thought I think it should import the right order automatically), and to make the staff head the right size you need to reduce it's size with shift+7 and shift+8 about 30 times.
This may be a stupid question, but I can't figure out how to add in the mods. Can I load them into Kisekae itself or do I have to manually edit the images with photoshop or something else like that?
Sorry for disturbing the thread.
>>1861163
On the 2nd page of the options, you'll want to find the tab with the white page with an arrow (seen in the image).
You can use a URL and get an image from off the web, or use Local to fetch an image off your computer.
Then you can change the size, layer, rotation, and position of the image. For example, the lifted skirt here is two separate images on two different layers, while the background is another image on the lowest layer.
>>1861015
Also damn that's actually really good. I can spot two characters at least in there, with the staff top being a separate one as just a floating head. and in the process of typing that I just realized the final one was the back layer of the robe she's wearing, so very cool overall!

When our cat was pregnant, she disappeared for a day and we were all worried that something might have happened to her, but then she came back with a rabbit that was almost as big as her and ate it whole in the sight of everybody, bones included.
I think your characters are cute, btw.
I made a character today. Idk why but I got to thinking, "what would I like to look like as a pokemon trainer", so... sure enough.
I did rely on some photoshop for it, as I am not entirely sure how to add custom clothing to kisekae yet (if you even can), so I didn't know how to add the pokeballs and stuff to her belt. I managed though, even threw in my starter of choice... Aron =3
I also decided she'd do most of her training on Iron Island in Sinnoh (I love steel type most).
It was fun making their shadows in photoshop, you might be able to do similar in the kisekae program... but again, i'm a newbie X3
What usually happens on weekends for these girls?

I've been trying to get that couch to import for me for a few days now, but it won't work (I"m using the URL image import). Is there some secret to getting it to work? Or something that will make it not work since the "story mode" update?
>>1863380
I'd just download the sofa and use local. I'm not sure modern security measures, both for browsers and for sites, would really allow Flash to just rip images from other URLs. But I've used nothing but local imports and never had an issue.
also apparently the export codes have been upgraded to version 29 now. What new options am I missing? Or is it just for supporting 'story mode' exports?
I take it no one else has noticed yet that there's a new option for hair ribbons to adjust outline color and thickness. Should make for a good way to impose patterns and designs onto clothing. Also a new star thing with gradient coloring.
Least I think it's new.
>>1863386
Yeah, I had an old import code that used the URL sofa picture, and I can still use that and the couch appears; but whenever I use local import, the pictures disappear if I use the slide feature and I have to re-import them (the URL couch from the old import code always sticks around, though).
>>1863390

I'm going to guess that its just a few of the belts layered together. Not super difficult to do in program.
I saw these threads for a while, but only started actually messing around in it yesterday and wow it's pretty fun. Is there a compilation of stories/comics? Or models? What are good places to look for comics?
Unfortunately no content but I'll definitely be making some

Sweeet. Noticed one day that the feature also got added to hairclips as well as bow things. Once we get the outline feature for belts it'll be super.

I don't know, as I am not the artist, but on first glance that doesn't look like a skirt, it looks like it's part of her shirt, and that she's probably wearing tight pants... can't say for sure though

I professed that I am new to the program, yes.
and I also stated that I am not the original artist.
But I was commenting on what I thought a silhouette, which by definition is ambiguous often as an artistic point, looked like.
How dare you go around telling me how little I know about something which I flat out stated I was not completely invested in yet.
With that said, I take offense. I spend HOURS contemplating every detail of each character I have made, many of whom I haven't shared yet anyway. I know I am not proficient with the more advanced stuff, but how DARE you tell me how much time I devote to something as important as creating a character you feel happy about and comfortable with.

as for her legs, I just like the default position for the images i've happened to upload so far. Idk, the next one in the Unfezant hunt has a different leg pose...
>>1864687
You should try a few things more often. Adding weight to posing can really go the long distance, and it's a good reason why mouse is so darn good. Something more dynamic and caught in the action is a lot more convincing.
Unfezant hunt part 2.
Yes I know that Unfezant's wing is inside out. I tried fixing this a number of ways, in the end I spent 2 hours on that alone and didn't reach a version I was satisfied with... actual Photoshop would make it easier instead of cheapy Paint.net... but... whatever... we are here for the Kisekae anyway =3
I did use a Kisekae hair part for the wing 'swish', though I decided that making an entire tornado out of them would be too fiddly with way too many parts... sorry if you guys aren't liking the post-Kisekae edits I keep doing =3
>>1864783
Side note, is there a way to, in the program, set the background transparent? I keep having to set it to a white or colored background, and then cropping that out in Paint.net, sadly it leaves behind trace pixels on her outline (the white dot syndrome).

I like knife-girl and long-haired loli best. Grey-haired girl is also cute, but the red gradient in her hair doesn't look all that good in my opinion.
You can take screenshots via the grey wrench-tab. You can draw a frame with the frame-button around the part of the image you want and the png or jpg button takes a picture. The camera with the plus-sign lets you change the resolution.
