I actually like the idea of someone focused on the more paranormal/supernatural stuff that happens in Gotham, sort of like a Justice League Dark to the regular Batman.
I've never really gotten into any of the Batfamily characters, but I think the fact that she's pretty divorced from the rest of them outside of sharing their geography most of the time helped in that regard.
