Only up to Episode 3,Pidge and Deathflag are the true pairing.
Pilot was rushed, but that was expected. So far everybody's character is okay. Cor's pretty much what I expected, for better or for worse, and both Lance and Hunk play to stock character types to good effect. Keith is surprisingly not a shonen protagonist, which is somewhat refreshing but leaves him solidly as a supporting character rather than a main. Shiro's bad-assand flagged for death in just about every way imaginable, Pidge a cute, and Allura's probably going to be team bruiser.
What do you all think of the design for King Zarkon? Took a few moments for me to adjust, the classic one is nigh iconic.
I've never seen anything Voltron but this actually looks pretty cool, I'll give it a try. This is only on Netflix right?

Most of them have been doing that, which makes sense given how only Shiro made it through the academy and also had extra training as a gladiator.
There's been some complaints about the VAs. Personally I think it's impossible to not hear Finn from Lance, which is reversed with Dos Santos saying he hears Lance when he sees Adventure Time promos. Oddly at least one anon swears up and down they sound nothing alike, so that's possible too. Someone was saying Allura sounded boring, but I thought she was perfect. Coran was a bit too nutty most of the time. Reminded me a bit of Varrick, honestly.
The one that surprised me most was Steven Yeun as Keith because I couldn't really hear any Glenn from him.

Lance was the hot head in the original and much more serious. Anyways the characters in the original were pretty basic and most of the problems with Third Dimension and Force was that they made them even more generic and never really gave focus on them as much as Legendary Defender is currently doing.

Finn is still aging as the series progresses so Jeremy is pretty much using the same voice these days (though I haven't kept up with the latest episodes). I suspect some of it was in the antics, such as the fart bit. Fortunately that kind of humor was a one-off, though they kept up stuff like the food goop bit. I had a hard time deciding if the food choices were just Coran being a weirdo or if it actually made sense that their people prefer horrific but character building food given that their rain is deadly flaming bits of rock.

The thundercats reboot was promising, but sadly they shoved out the original writers and the whole thing went off the rails. Some fairly decent reimagining of how the world works. I think it was a set up that the goo, and quintessence in general, is magic life juju that the empire is taking over. Keith is heavily under utilized in the first 11 eps. He and Lance are the only ones without solid arcs (and Caron, I guess), but Lance also gets more face time as the Sokka-esque boisterous comedy relief. Keith just kind of there. He get's to fight the Emperor though, so that's nice.
The cliff hanger sees them all separated, so we'll probably get more of his shit in the next crop.

And in the original series Shero's role was to die 6 episodes in and so the Princess could get a Lion.

Shiro gets his PTSD arcs. Pidge getshercoming to terms with putting Team Voltron ahead of finding blood related family, Hunk realizes what the Empire has cost the universe and his responsibility to stop it. Lance and Keith alone lack proper arcs. Lance has his bit where he connects with Caron over family and is generally in the front of the scenes with his antics, but Keith has basically gotten nothing until the very end of the show.
As has been discussed, him sensing the Lion energy and knowing the alien ship, and Shiro, would arrive and the scene with the Quintessence probably point to some plot shit going on with him later. But for now? He's basically just the cool guy in the background.

He's out of the spotlight so Shiro can have it to make the shock when he dies/turns heel that much stronger, then Keith will take over and be the real leader. Still would've been better if he was built up properly as his own character beforehand though.

It was a great scene. The comedy bits, outside of some of the first episode things not continued into the rest of the series and basically always spot on. The more serious moments basically stick really close to classic, completely cheesy power of friendship stuff. Shiro's PTSD stuff get's increasingly darker, though.
It's interesting how, outside of some jokes about "supernatural technology not fully explainable by Science" the series just goes whole hog into the premise. Flying robot lions, everyone talking the same language without batting an eye, literally 10,000 year old super evil empire. It's a bit refreshing, I suppose.

We could've used a bit more Lance and Keith character arcs. Keith, as has been discussed, especially needed some more character building and background, though he got plenty of important fights by the end. We don't even really know what happened to get him booted out.
We still kinda know jack shit about what's going on in the setting, though we've gotten a few inklings. We've got the magic life force bullshit macguffin and of course the evil empire, but it feels like we're still sitting on too little.
Too few episodes, honestly, I think is at the root cause. I feel like the pacing is right overall, but with the few amount of episodes, it's like things have barely begun. The character stuff we've gotten has been good, but the pacing and episode count has meant only a few people got it. As they said around the last few episodes, they don't even know what the Empire's layout is. I'm trying to decide what is asking for too much with the opening salvo of episodes, but I am left with the feeling that there should've been more.

I like how it wasn't tortuously drawn out. I'd heard the rumors and ponderings before it went up, no idea where those came from honestly, but it also seemed kind of easy to pick out in the show itself. The photo is a classic fakeout clue. Oh yeah, Pidge just totally has a photo of "his girl friend" who looks exactly like him. And also has an older brother who looks exactly like him.
When Pidge just comes out and tells every one in, what was it? Episode 6? When she just puts it out there and everyone except Lance just goes "okay, yeah cool, we basically already knew," I was very grateful. It could've been been played a lot more annoyingly than it was. It felt like it had the proper pacing of "audience can figure it out without being told, it's revealed to the audience, it's revealed to the cast."

I hate to sound like an edgelord, but in addition to a bit more character development and world-building the show could really have used a bit more edge. They spent so much time talking about how bad and evil and cruel the villains are and then the worst thing we actually see them do is send their robots to go pewpew at Voltron and because they're robots the protags tear through them like tissue paper with nary a second thought. Apart from the druids, who were actually pretty spoopy and by far the best of the enemies, it was all insanely tame.

I was on the other end, they showed the villains as sufficiently cruel in the Belmora arc and didn't need to go further (unless they're going to do so in the rest of the series). Pilot is undoubtedly the weakest episode for me, and Keith is pretty much a secondary character.
I'm actually okay with that because it means we got more time for Shiro and Pidge (who somehow has become the most developed character?), and Allura as well. Aside from them though, the weakest parts are definitely Hunk's "fat guy" humor, albeit he gets a good character arc with Rockfu. Lance, for whatever reason, feels okay as is, he and Cor are hit and miss for me.
I do like that they started adding custom DWATV logos to all their shows.
