And so, DC nu52 erased all the other members of the Flash Family, so that the poor dumb readers wouldn't get confused and think Barry Allen wasn't the one and only person worthy of the title.
Everytime I read this story, I wish the art wasn't so outdated.

True but Waid/Johns Flash made Wally impossible to erase from DCU's core at this point. They tried really hard but it backfired in the end. Hopefully this will show itself in the movies too now that Johns is taking the control over there.
