whoa, 100 threads in hexadecimal! that's an achievement
Soory about inundating you guys with progress pics, didn't know that bothered you guys so much. But can I get some advice on getting smooth lines? Do i need some sort of stabilizer or something. i'm on PhotoShop btw
>>81538472
principal*
photoshop can use lazynezumi as a stabilizer plugin. i like the stabilizer from mangstudio, me..
hmm her tits seem slightly high
basically you need to make fast sweeping lines if you really want it to work.
Trying to work on a page, but REALLY struggling to picture what I want with the environment/background. Bleh.
Not this page, but the next page.
>>81538029

to all those who dont know
i freehand on mspaint
>>81539194
i'm about to work with the dewd on some shit because he's on top
>>81539217
aaaand the new shit
>>81539247
a scrapped idea, i gave up halfway through
tell me what you think of this exact thing
>>81539275
this right here is me just going off
its part of the story
but i dont know if i should continuously follow through
this is prescott defending the daughter
>>81538762
i like this page at least
>>81539362
didnt you skip a bit
>>81539362
left to right
sergei (hoping for a danish name), prescott, and guapo
sergei is a criminal arms dealer whos actually tsundere because why the fuck not
im all about fucking around with ideas
prescott dont look it, but he got $$$$$ he was ontop of that marketing shit
guapo is a straight up pedo i expect to kill off because fuck him
what should i do to make these characters better?
i was thinking of adding a fourth in the group
ps prescott earned that legit buck
>>81539408
yeah i did skip,
that was just a thing i wanted to work on
like a side thing
its not exactly part of the comic its just to get a feel for action scenes
i leave you with a fucking boring joke
thus concludes my shit:
>>81538472
Wish I can help you
as you can see I just go for the nitty gritty,
if there's one thing I can tell you, this is probably tablet work right?
I can see confidence in your strokes, so if you mean smoother strokes? you're good as a motherfuck.
I personally don't see a problem.
See: >>81538762
He goes for that rough draft approach, feel?
But it is a rough draft.
>>81539600
i fucking like this joke
and i think i dont mind the bit about the dudes with the baby.
i was gonna implement some mutated anthro animals but i dont want to cater to furries,
>>81540296
but i decided against the idea
:)
>>81540324
he was talking about the vest
he was supposed to be a dude trying to be a bad guy but he wasnt
he becomes likeable and youre like well shit he's alright but he gets fuuuuuuuuucked
also: >>81539658
is this too much for a joke?
>>81540376
nah i love that joke
able to tell whats happening in 4th panel?
>>81540995
yeah it's pretty clear
maybe the scarycritters (are they supposed to be scary versions of cat ghost?) could be more distinct, with more stark white outer edges... and maybe one instance of 'kill johnny' could actually be fully legible
>>81540995
the background as shit
also dude,
yeah johnny is kill or kill johnny?
One thing I noticed AND I AM definitely not the person to point this shit out, but expression is missing a ' because you put ' on the o...
>>81541210
>>81541547
I need to learn to do things like panel 4 better. going to be more of it.
I kinda feel like making some short animations. Got any recommended software, or should I just go with Photoshop CS6?
>>81541868
i don't think the underlines help.
>>81541971
newest version of clipstudio actually has animation capability!
not a webcomic just a fancomic in-progress

>>81541868
By the way fucksmith,
you should get into translating those into japanese
I feel you'd get a following in J-land
seems like the kind of shit they would enjoy,
you adopt the kind of style they would dig,
if you want, we could talk shit on skype,
let me get to know you, bounce some ideas of each other, and I can hook you up with a translator for cheap
In terms of getting out there, what exactly are you plans/what do you do?
I am seeing some consistency with your work,
you update pretty often.
>>81542469
>>81542496
you know, every so often someone decides "rubber suit kaiju stuff is so silly, it needs to be made more badass" with varying results. some of the 'bad' results i actually like quite a bit
but this..
this is faaaantastic. this is fucking awesome.
i would buy a fucking print of >>81542516 if i had aaany money
>>81542516
i just really like anguirus
I was always a bit concerned that trying to cram four rows worth of story into a page would be too much, but I'm finding it's not so bad.
To answer the thread question, one feature I like in comic sites is arrow key controls to switch between pages.

i bet you could get midway (or i guess theyre owned by warner bros now) to pay you to do a primal rage comic. drum up interest in that again.

i love the idea of the age alluded to in godzilla 2014 where mutos and godzillas were killing & eating each other and adding anguirus and rodans and baragons all over the place in a primordial ecosystem would be rad for the sequel.
Finally got around to seeing Batman v Superman. Jesus christ I was not ready.
>>81541995
shit lmao bolding the letters might've been better
>>81542186
hit me up on email if u want[email protected]
As for goals, just looking to get a steady comic going.
>>81543674
oof. that strip's gonna age really well
>>81543718
naw i think the letters are fine, just shrink some of them down so one full instance of 'kill johnny' is visible. at least one. preferably towards the bottom so it's before he goes 'who's johnny?'
actually it'd be better if they were gray towards the top, less obtrusive.. then fading to white and more legible as you go down.
What's a good excuse in a sci-fi/adventure setting for the villian to trap the heroes inside the 1939 Wizard of Oz film? How and why does he do it?
>>81544521
woof. aside from incredibly complex computer simulations, i can't imagine justifying being trapped inside a film in a scifi setting. that's straight up magic, yo.
but if you DO mean holodecktrap then uhhh he does it because .. because HE is the one that secretly hung himself in the background of that one shot!
except as they point out to him, that isnt what happened. and he'd be dead if it was
NO I WOULDNT
etc. he's just nuts. also he's a theaterfag and wants to be dorothy
>>81543674
Amateur mistake, you NEVER use lowercase in your fonts.
>>81544725
whoa check it out, we got a real Benjamin D'Israeli in here
>>81538029
I want some input on an idea for a setting that I have.
Most of the people live in an ancient Roman inspired society. There are Arena battles and people wear togas. But there are also some fantasy creatures like giant scorpions and dinosaurs, and a few people that end up rediscovering the lost art of magic.
And one of the tribes uses advanced technology that the others shun.
I know it seems like hodgepodge, but is there anyway to make it all work together?
>>81544800
sounds like it already works fine. ancient rome fits fantastically with all that shit, who's to say it didnt have it already? certainly medieval europeans thought it did. and as for the advanced technology, yeah.. again compared to later europe, pretty much.
>>81544800
Caesar being assassinated with lightsabers by lizards and dinosaur people sounds cool, Robot Mark Antony fighting the battle of Actium against Octavian with bigass dragons and flying ships in place of galleys sounds fucking awesome
part-2-ier than usual, this one was going to be the second half of the previous, but fuckit. it works.
maybe i should drum up attention by getting prrromotey like some people here do. like 'it's a wet and wild comic this time as hel discovers puddles and laughing heartily at the misfortune of clowns and wolf pikes don't mix! will Mizuumi continue to use her extremely OP powers in Zu Lake? how much longer will the sun stone's effect hold out? does Kimchi really care or does he just want to make stupid puns on the names of cities in Russia?
>googles
Finland. cities in finland. Well just the one really. though I guess there would be others with hel in them, wouldn't there.. what was i thinking of.. is there like, a helsingrad? is that in russia by way of finnish people?
>>81543784
Gonna age like hot milk but I had to. I needed to for me.
>>81545687
at least it's pop culture and not politics.
honestly i'm surprised i'm not seeing much cleverness surrounding this particular flop. something deep and meaningful about something people have been wanting to see for 70 years was destroyed by very modern ills, yet we've never lived in an age before where the system was set up to even allow it as a viable concept. our current movie culture is lifting things up with one hand and smashing them with another.
will fix the colors later
>>81538472
love seeing your progress m8
beckys side view is a bit too off
>>81538762
will you be filling in the negative space with environment?
>>81539121
this is on hell of a story
>>81540995
>able to tell whats happening in 4th panel?
absolutely, thought why its happening is a bit muffled,
id make the background just a bit lighter, so thomas's bubble doesnt get lost in it, make the other ghosts' outlines a tiny bit thicker so they pop out from the words, and make the mantra vary greater in sizes to it's both more chaotic and readable
>>81542516
dude
>>81544725
i actually prefer regular lettering to caps lock, it feels more grounded and the actual caps lock parts have more impact
>>81546159
>>81543830
true. thoughts on next? cleaned up a lot of unnecessary dialogue.
>>81546386
liking the effect of thomas' bubble in 2nd panel, would switch "stop" for "ow" instead its more a reflexive reaction to a sudden strike
and switch out "we're at school, rest elsewhere" for "does it have to be right there!?" or something because thats the kids biggest problem with it
third panel is both thomas and kid's thoughts? a bit weird
anyway id change it to an over-the shoulder view of the kids face and thomas' is hidden mumuring to himself in his own thoughts "that actually stings!"
that way the kid becomes the focal point of the panel, and the cat seems to not see it coming
take of it what you will
>>81546386
>>81546638
i would move 'that actually stings' to the second panel (moving the 'stop' over to the left to make room) and make the third panel him just reeling a bit. among other things that'd leave room for the kid's text in place of the cat's.
>>81546745
>>81546638
Thanks, that's cleaner.
>>81547177
oh way better
glad to help
i mentioned in the last thread but id really like to see the kid fleshed out
anyways goin to bed, 'nite guys
>>81544725
Why not? Honest question
>>81548291
iirc capital letters are faster to read and easier to differenciate even between fonts
>>81548319
I think that kind of thinking may be a throwback to the old days of paper printing, when the lower quality newsprint would mean the lines could be a little fuzzy, so block capitals would be easier to make out.
With modern digital screens and printing this isn't really an issue anymore, but you still need to choose a font that's clear and easy to read, and suitable for the strip you're making.
>>81542561
Great work
been researching artificial intelligence in real world scenarios, revising my script to correct a few details here and there, so right now I am piecing together my storyboard with Clip Studio for the first time.
I wanted to share it with you guys, it's rough, and corrections will be made but here it is!

and as an added plus another Tomo redesign, because getting robot joints right is half the fun!
Drawin annabeth more. I think I've got it down now.
I thought about that goblin porno on Slipshine and thought that annabeth should be that cute kind of ugly like that. Though, it's been like, a year sense I've seen that comic.
On to page 29.
>>81549815
>>81544786
The medium is the images, not the text, please don't affect the artist's work by distracting your readers with the text.
>>81546159
>it feels more grounded and the actual caps lock parts have more impact
that's what size and specially drawing the actual letters is for.
>>81551412
Your panel composition is a bit strange. The robot is important and the first "out of place" element in your opening pages, but they're out of focus and introduced in a way that's both stiff and lacks clarity. That would work just fine if you're building tension or trying to obscure them, but it seems like you want to make them feel "normal". You don't have to make a big deal about them, but introducing the robot in a relatively small shot where their back is to the audience doesn't flow well and the "close-up" on the side of their face is strange when things are pretty calm and we still haven't seen their face from the front.
>>81551422
The next page continues the trend of keeping the robot far from the camera or obscured, which reads awkwardly with all these other big close-ups of the other two characters. The framing also keeps jumping from shot to countershot, which is a little disorienting since you keep zooming in and out on this page.
>>81551436
This page's composition is pretty good, but there's a few oddities. You keep the camera trained on a character in a single spot while her dialogue balloons converge on the margin. This is a bit strange and, if you want to keep that carrying dialogue instead of moving the balloons, would probably work better with a new shot in the second panel that shows the reaction you display in the third. Also, the fourth panel would be stronger if the audience could see what the robot is now busying themselves with, as that adds clarity instead of the ambiguity of "robot looks away and down...ish".
Your character art is pretty good and your instincts are a lot better than most artists in the thread (keeping the camera in motion for still scenes and varying your vantage points and level of focus), but you could still work on your clarity, smooth out your transitions, and do a bit more to set the scenes themselves instead of just the mood. Solid work.
i finally updated up to this one page
>>81554824
Text and image work together in comics. An inappropriate font choice (whether hand drawn or digital) is just as distracting and detrimental to the story as poor composition and pacing. Some stories may work better with lowercase lettering, or even cursive, than all caps block printing.
>>81548319
I thought it was the other way around, since words have no "shape" when reading all capitals.
On another thought, why is it that all-caps in comics is fine, but when people do it on websites, it's annoying as fuck?
>>81542561
Y'know, you always impress me. Your style walks that thin line between stylishly cool and potentially edgy but it never falls into edgy proper. It helps that you have great taste in kaiju too.
WYRM sounds like an easier intro concept to work on than BONEMAN, even though it may have less crazy cool mythology going on. Regardless, I look forward to seeing what you've got on the docket.
>>81544800
You could make it work all together if you got the aesthetic down right. Make it feel like a Ray Harryhausen flick and nobody will doubt it as an homage to the Sword & Sandal films of yesteryear. You might also be able to get away with it by making the dinosaurs come primarily from Africa, because African cryptids tend to follow the lost dinosaur variety. Paint them up a little, have them sold by the African Kingdoms of the times alongside slaves; or have them be gifts from the tribute states of Egypt.
For magic, depending on the time period; have scrolls for the chakras of ancient Hinduism, as well as some Fire Worship religions exist. Maybe have the Roman/Greek Four Humours work only on inward magic (or rather bringing out the best in human potential) whereas foreign magi works on an outward level by working on concepts rather than the self. So a Greek might be able to have lots of children thanks to magic, but only a foreign wizard could use magic to make sure his children were blessed by the divine.
>Advanced Technology
How advanced? Guns and power armor should be right out, but rods that shoot lightning or a lingam stone that functions like a nuke could work well. Atlantean tech maybe also? I'd say have it function like high tech, but never reveal the truth. You don't want to kitchen sink the setting.
>>81551393
is this the blind girl thing?
>>81553199
good job making the lines different heavinesses so you can keep track of the scene. there's some decent depth here. even if each tank looks a bit flat individually
>>81553183
well at least that nose works better in 3d
>>81551475
oh hmm the robot is taller now. neat. yeah clothing the joints in something flexible like that is pretty realistic actually

>>81555532

>>81558488
That's a page from Craig Thompson's "Good-bye, Chunky Rice". I added it as an example of a strip that uses lowercase lettering, and which wouldn't look the same if it was lettered in all caps. I should have been more specific on that point.
>>81538029
started on a new page today but i got a lot of stuff to do today so i might not finish it until tonight, unless i go ahead and finish it before i leave today
>>81558595
i can't believe people took the 'must do all caps' anon seriously enough to reply
Which do you guys think if better in general?
Sai or Photoshop?
And can you recommend any beginners tutorials for either?
>>81559905
Photoshop. SAI is obsolete compared to other programs. If anything, you should use Krita instead of SAI, since it's basically an open-source Photoshop.
>>81559905
photoshop, but mangastudio/clipstudio is better than photoshop in every way except its coloring tools
>>81560145
Clipstudio is really bugged on my tablet. I dont know if it's my calibration but it's way off whenever I use it
>>81558458
>fou
Chantelle is supposed to have a french-russian accent. Coldfusion helped me with proof reading on this and other pages, and mentioned bits like that but i forgot to discuss with him good ways to make a character's different way of speaking more apparent for the reader, easier in the original dialogue but here i'm not so sure if i should continue with that, i don't it to be perceived as tacky.
>>81559905
sai for art, its simple and lightweight on your pc (which is great if you have a shit comp like i do), with a built in stabalizer and very simple interface
>>81560473
ohh. Hmm i'm not sure how you should write for in a french or russian accent.. all i know is when or becomes ou i think of homestarrunner
>>81559905

So I'm writing random pieces here and there, and I'm wondering if the line ''You will want to kill me, and I will want to kill you'' sounds right
>>81561889

>>81562013
It's a fairly straightforward way to communicate the concept of future mutual homicidal urges.
Can't think of a more elegant way to do it, anyway.
>>81562217
yeah...
guy is that what you were going for? because i can't imagine a scenario in which someone wants to exrpress to another person that they WILL want to kill each other sometime later
>>81549815
>>81555913
maybe what i recall is a common misconception, but its not only seen in print, teachers and the like often write in all caps too for those reasons
>but when people do it on websites, its annoying as fuck?
i guess because we're used to comics being in caps, but on the internet caps lock is yelling, informal and try hardy
personally im iffy on caps in both,
ehats really annoying is fuckin needlessly bold accentuated words every other sentence
>>81562364
Yeah
>because i can't imagine a scenario in which someone wants to exrpress to another person that they WILL want to kill each other sometime later
Well I just did, I was just wondering if there's another way of saying that, because to me it sounds a little awkward
>>81562364
i thought of it as like the common quote of "listen, you hate me and i hate you.."
>>81562683
it depends on context but sounds fine, however if anything it could be
A voices their desire and B says they reciprocate
>>81562683
>it sounds a little awkward
It's a bit of an awkward concept, so that seems about right.
will your comic impact culture?
>>81563317
it's hard to define what even impacts culture nowadays, it's almost as if it's picked totally at random, I'm just doing the best I can at making an appealing comic.
>>81553199
spectacular job, anon! i hope you go far!

i cant believe how stupid you are, everything i do i do for speed over quality, im in a hurry to be done with this chapter because i hate drawing giant monsters fighting in a real life city like L.A. which is where this is taking place right now
after this chapter is done im keeping everything and everybody normal human sized
also i dont trace and i dont use stock images
>>81565012
I come here TO reply to Bones.
>>81565575
>i cant believe how stupid you are
I can't believe how bad in general you are. Usually bad artists have redeeming traits, whether it be writing skills or the ability to respond to criticisms. You have no redeeming traits other than you're a lolcow.
>everything i do i do for speed over quality
I'd say it shows but it doesn't. Your "rushed" stuff is every bit as bad as your other stuff.
>im in a hurry to be done with this chapter because i hate drawing giant monsters fighting in a real life city like L.A
Maybe you shouldn't be an artist if you don't like to draw things outside your comfort zone.
I'm drunk at a bar alone and I'm drawing
Waiting for some friends
I drew my charas younger in case I wanted to explore and do some flashbacks
>>81565937
good times, man. if more people were like you i'd be a bar person
>>81565750
thanks for the review of my lifetime of artwork, i will take it to heart and try and become better 4chan stick figure artist
Man, I just I can't into this page.
I figure I just gotta get the dialogue in panel 2 to not be complete badness and then it's just about making everything look neat.
>>81566710
i think 'sharp enough to shave with' makes it sound.. well, less weird.. even though it's supposed to sound weird to the other character
>>81566710
>>81567044

>>81566710

its so damn cute
also agree with >>81567044 on keeping the original wording
>>81564867
how old are you bones?
you have the heart but you need to realize its important to learn the necessary tricks of your trade my man
your characters look pretty good. you do a great job at conveying their emotion through body language. you should be proud of that! but rushing through backgrounds just makes for work that will be judged poorly regardless of any effort you put else where.
if this comic is just a training ground for you
then keep doing what youre doing
but if you want to poor your heart into something
step back and keep training like me
one day ill be ready
i just picked up on perspective finally after years of putting it off
its actually WAY easier than you think.
you got this bones!

im the same exact age as rebecca sugar is, find out how old sugar is and you find out how old i am
thanks for all the compliments and advice but this comic is free, so can you not understand how weird it is when people bitch and complain about it and hate on it for no reason? ITS FOR FUCKING FREE! WHAT DO YOU PEOPLE WANT FOR NOTHING???? FFS! lol
i dont care, hate or love it im going to keep on making it and loving every minute of it, even though i dont like drawing giant demon gods in los angeles, i still love making pages of demon juice ya know?

What do you mean?
I'm using this method for my comic
>>81568128
wow. i was not expecting.. that to be.. how he figured out she knew.. and how they reacted. damn. that is fucking awesome. it's like mixing every possible way it could have gone into one satisfying package
as for the art, since it's you, i was VERY able to follow what was going on, so nice job. also always nice to see titties.
>>81568214
One of my first characters was heavily oriented at some of my core character traits. Sometimes I blushed if people told me they'd be attractive.
But generally all of your characters probably share the one or other trait with you. That's only natural as you're their creator and want to relate to them.
>>81568630
i think a good balance to to practice everything
practice making charas you can relate to
try something way out of your comfort zone
research heavily into these new aspects, cultures, ect.
as a writer/artist you are not only that but also an entertainer, researcher, historian, psychologist ect.
>>81568254
>>81568290
>>81568630
it is a great technique and i encourage everyone to try it&apply it.
ive taken my zquil but ill be back to respond at length about this when i wake up. its a topic that deserve my full attention.
Rebecca actually talks about basing characters off traits of yourself and exaggerating them! Even if a character may be based off someone you know, you only know how you feel inside.

>>81573550
how do I start up a promising new comic?
>>81558398
I believe the arms are going to be a bit of a challenge, but I think they will help with the realism of the design the most. I also added the thick cloth to the whole armature because I think that would protect people from getting their hands crushed with its joints and also because that makes it the easier to access the inside components for adjustments and troubleshooting.
he isn't going to be that much taller since that makes it easier to adapt to various spaces, also he has to look friendly and a robot that is taller than you may intimidate people.
>>81574898
well if he's not that much taller than before then that means you made him a LOT thinner.. because i recall him being wee before.
>>81542469

When making a short one-off for people to get to know the characters while having something happening in the story that doesn't matter much to the overall plot, does having the script be 50+ pages long a bad thing?
>>81577709
pages of script = pages of comic?
>>81578108
No, what I'm doing is writing it all on the notepad, I just copypasted the entire thing on MSWord to see how many pages it would fill and it gave me 40, I've yet to finish the first draft.
>>81578241
that's pretty insanely long dude. that's like a fifth of a novel
>>81577709
Probably. It shouldn't be hard to get to know the characters, and getting the basic jist of them shouldn't take 50 pages. In 50 pages we ought to know who they are around their friends, people they tolerate, and when they're alone; ideally. If it is a short one off, you ought to be able to cover one of those in much less.
>>81578241
I guess it depends on how much of it is dialogue and how much of it is what the characters are doing. If you're overindulgent on stage direction as it were, that might account for the length. I'm sure once you think about how long in pages you want it to be you'll be able to trim it down to the parts you need.
>>81568448
Well, we're glad you liked it. It's only going to get worse from here. Always happy when people are able to follow what is happening. As for why that's the way he found out, it really ought to say more about Erin. And this whole issue is really giving her some very much needed character development.
>>81568214
Eh, it's not too bad. Just takes accepting a lot of your bullshit. The Sisters are based a lot on my experiences of growing up with a lot of brothers, in terms of crassness and secrets. The villains are...a lot like I am when I get really stressed out, taken to a far more obscene level.
>>81576661
>>81576700
I'll take that. It was nice to build up to that moment, because much like killing Scott; this scene was a long time coming. And it's only going to get worse from here.
>>81578324
Well, a good deal of it is pretty much describing action scenes, character actions and settings, also, quite a bunch of short lines separated by thick lines like MSWord loves doing.
Even then it's the first draft, I got a lot to iron out.
>>81578417

oh wait, you won't. because with each passing day and each road block your enthusiasm will wane, until you feel more dread than joy from opening the .txt file. when the next dazzling idea comes you'll abandon it and tell yourself it'll be "for later", but you and I both know that "later" is never coming.

have decent to great art to start with, for that work on your fundamentals, THEN styalization
have okay to great writing, practice prompts, read all forms if literature, and bounce ideas off others, like we do here
make sure your elevator pitch (=quick summary or premise) sounds interesting, equally, your pages and opening, once you have someones eyes, the art and writing should take care of the rest to make them stay

Wasn't this supposed to be a "guy" robot?
>>81583827
he doesn't have any defined "sexual orientation" but I wanted the design to be as friendly and approachable as possible. hence why the delicate figure and small body build.
also, gotta put them servos and sensors somewhere
>>81583953
Yeah I didn't mean to imply it had a real sense of gender identity or anything, just that as a reader, my first instinct would be to refer to it as "she" and read its speech with a female robo-voice because of the wide hips, narrow shoulders and bust-like chestplate. Why's it a "he" in-story?
>>81583953
Your design is too simple for its own good and has all the natural signs that read as "girl" to a reader. If you were going for delicate but androgynous, you missed it by a mile. This robot is very feminine.
>>81583953
>>81584538
you could just make it a 'girl' robot, actually. or hell, have it switch. it's a robot.
it's not like I thought of addressing its sexual orientation any time soon, I got other topics that are more interesting to me right now and that I'd like to tackle in the story. for now I don't know if it's important. but who knows maybe one day Tomo could wear clothes.
here is an early draft of Tomo

>>81580969

Questions I challenge creators to answer:
>Why are you creating a comic?
>What is your end goal?
>Does your story have a message?
>Are you trying to teach or tell?
>Do you have an end in mind for your story?
>>81589390
What could really help you is black placement. Areas of solid black that help draw the eye around the page. For me, all the trees in the background of this
>>81589446
and the undefined parts of the dead bodies in the foreground and midground should be solid black. It'd help frame the shot and draw attention to the characters.
Your pages don't have any solid blacking which makes them look busy. and unfocused.
>>81589501
I'm making Ennui GO! because it's fun, I'm using it as an excuse to practice cartooning and hands, and I'm making some money off of it.
If I can, I'd like to be able to make enough off of the comic so I could pay my bills, so I wouldn't have to do as many fetish commissions.
No real message to Ennui GO! If I had to invent one it'd be to keep your humanity after you get successful.
Definitely trying to tell.
No real end in mind for Ennui GO!, but I do have definite points I'd like to get to over the next few years.
>>81589555
I've been slowly adding solid blacks its all hand drawn and scanned, and I'm afraid of using digital means to add solid blacks, in case it makes the ink blacks look off grey. Page flow is my weakest point. Have a gunslinging kobold for your critique.
>>81589817
Bring your scanned inks into photoshop. Go to image > adjustments > levels. By dragging around the little black triangle below the square graph, you can bump up the darks on the page to a point where they look jet black. You can also do this to bump up the whites on the page.
>>81589501
I create west tree because I see all of these cartoons doing stuff I hate and I thought I could do better.
My end goal is to inspire as many people as I can to draw.
And maybe get a west tree cartoon.
The message is don't think about things too hard and keep on trying and maybe even keep on making things up as you go along until you get it right.
Also, there will always be some sort of evil one way or another in the world, but if things are peaceful, just relax.
I'm mainly trying to tell, but if people learn something from it, good for them.
Yes I do, but it has changed several times.
One end had sarah become the final boss and jack had to beat her using a giant sperm spirit and then have fight sex.
But obviously that's gone now.
>>81589501
>Why are you creating a comic?
Because me and the other guy got into webcomics in the early 2000s and severely misread the way it works but it is too late and we work on plenty of other side things.
>End Goal
We'd like to be a small imprint group within the next ten years, just because that'd be a thing that feels worthy and good to have our names attached to.
>Does your story have a message?
Nothing heavy, but I do think the theme of secrets, lies, and belief are a pretty common motif throughout that the message of "suffering comes often through failures to communicate" might be seen as the message.
>Teach or Tell
Telling a story.
>End in Mind.
Yep. Got the end scenes I want each story arc to build to in mind. The current arc of the Sisters has been doing pretty good at hitting those act breaks.
>How do you prefer your comic sites?
Simple. Standard reading interface, forward and back buttons, regular-ass archive.
>What features?
As few as possible. If it doesn't work with all scripts disabled I will not read a comic. Period.
>Anyone know RSS?
I don't use it, but it is a feature on my site after popular demand.
>How did you design yours and why the way it is?
Simple, because that's what I want in the comics I read.
BOO!Do your best
>>81589501
Because out of all the things in my life that I wanna do, this fucking comic is the closest thing I'll ever be able to make because I won't have to start from scratch everytime I move out of town each 2 years like EVERYTHING in my life.
I just want something to call my own, something I can say ''I did this, it was me'', some sense of accomplishment for once.
I guess? The more stories I come up with it the less I feel like they're about anything other than what the characters are going through
mostly tell, something entertaining at the very least

>Nudity is cool
What a strange moral.
>>81589501
I love webcomics as a medium but I haven't seen any good ones lately that aren't dying or dead. I've been nursing this story idea since I was around 11 and I'm really excited to see it come to fruition.
My end goal is just to see it finished, but a small following and/or chance to publish would be amazing. I also hope I get decent with my art with all the practice, especially with atmosphere and consistency in the faces.
It has no message. I'm just trying to tell a story I'm attached to in a visually pleasing and entertaining way.
And I have an end in mind. I need to work out some of the details but they should come pretty easily as I write the rest. It's kind of "fate of humanity" deal but not quite as generalized.
>>81594937
it feels like one i shouldn't have to state, and yet i consistently see it needing to be said. this must be how theoh you knowfeel when they look atregular people
>>81594270
Huh, eh that's cool, I just want to make annabeth look less human.
>>81595189
well here's the thing, if anna is half metal demon or whatever, if anything shouldnt there be like, silver scrape lines?
>>81595221
Well, that would be hard to tell on Annabeth's already grey-ish skin, also, it's already confirmed that Annabeth has red blood.
>>81595047
Oh, I don't have anything against the moral. It's just odd in how extremely specific of a "accept things you aren't used to" message it is and, frankly, I'm interested in how you can make that the core message of your story without it being forced.
>>81595286
>accept things you aren't used to
oh hell no, shoot me if i start putting out that message
the message is 'be used to it, it's normal and practical'
and you make that the message by just having it happen sometimes and being like 'what? that happens. go read a fantasy book or watch an anime'
>Why are you creating a comic?
For practice
>What is your end goal?
I have a long comic I want to make. My goal is that comic.
>Does your story have a message?
Yes and no. It's really just a way for me to deal with the aspects of my life that I am unhappy with.
>Are you trying to teach or tell?
That is an odd way to phrase that question.
>Do you have an end in mind for your story?
It'll jump the shark. When I get bored with it, I'll reveal all the stupid aspects of it and then end it.
>>81595373
Oh, well, that's even stranger than I thought.
I hope you can make your nudity acceptance message work without coming off as a broader acceptance message.
>>81595577
what i try to do is just be confident in things that other people are nervous about, whether nervous that they're being naughty or nervous that they're getting away with something.. just negate that concept in the viewer's eye by not apologizing at all. basically peer-pressure them. that's what the opposition did in the first place to make it taboo.

shit there's a reason nudists never make a fuss no matter how legitimately oppressed and mercilessly mocked and slandered and slurred we get compared to other special interest groups. nobody wants to be the big issue guy, the big in-your-face enemy forcing you to talk and act differently. at least nobody sensible.
>>81589501
>Why are you creating a comic?
I either suck at or hate everything else. I can make a shitty comic or I can sit around waiting to die.
>What is your end goal?
to make a comic and not die of boredom. Make enough money that I can continue to live.
>Does your story have a message?
I guess. More like a question that's been haunting me. I doubt I'm some incredible philosophical intellect who will have a more satisfying conclusion than "just 'cause", but maybe I can get myself and my readers some new perspective on that answer to make it easier to deal with.
>Are you trying to teach or tell?
I'm trying to ask, I think.
>Do you have an end in mind for your story?
Sort of. The final dramatic showdown is all dreamed up, but I'm not entirely sure which way it ends up going. I'm half and half considering not making an ending and just having the pages stop with the protagonist and antagonist squaring off, but I'd be annoyed if I read something like that myself.
>>81596506
Thanks, just checking.
yo dewd, today's comic. i forgot to comment on it when you posted it here, but it makes-a me laugh. it reminds me of this idea i had for a sorta fairytale parody about like, the various verminfairies blessing some baby with a lack of fear of bugs and rats and things, so he'll always be their friend.. and he grows up to be a master exterminator because of his lack of fear.
I think I should get drunk more often, it's the only thing that turns off that part of my brain that goes ''no dude, don't do it, now get sad because you didn't do it''

let's stay positive guys. say one nice thing about a web comic from this thread

let's be real. all the comics in here suck, and no one will ever give a shit about any of them as they are right now.
>>81601685

>>81602583
>nyeh! NYEHHH
my first time on /co/. is this normal here?
I don't see a work on your art thread so I'm going to ask here.
I want to develope a style, I really like the geometrical cartoon style that was so common a couple of years ago like pic reated. but what do I do to archive it?
>>81602707
learn to construct
>>81602707
1-learn form and perspective, how to construct things. this is the pillar of drawing, the most essential of the essential.
2-study anatomy, draw realistic humans.
3-study the art-styles you like, emulate, but don't just copy. figure out what you like about it.
>>81602274
watch out... we got a badass over here.
>>81602647
Silence you funny fool.
>>81602707
Loomis. Alternatively, don't, because those cheap-to-animate designs look especially dull in a comic.
>>81602647
haha just cobbling your wobbles m8, it's cool.
but if >>81602159 thinks we AREN'T being positive right now then this has to be his first thread. things do sometimes get bad. but only rarely.
>>81602707
step 1. make shapes in 3d
step 2. put them together
step 3. move them around at different angles
step 3a. realize they now look terrible
step 4. give up on that geometrical cartoon style from the 00s and just draw good looking styles instead
alternate step 4. give up on drawing in 3d and just work out a few poses/angles that look good, and keep drawing those. you are now simpsons/futurama/peanuts/etc. but get ready to be accused of 'symbol drawing'
>>81602860
instead of typing this bad post you could have just linked drawabox.com
I don't know where to even begin with panel layouts. Are there any books that can help with this? How do you guys decide how to lay out your panels? Do you do thumbnails of the page beforehand and then pick the one you like the best?
>>81602919
well that's what i meant by steps 1-3
the problem is, try making a 'toon' out of those, and you will quickly lose interest. the angular toons he speaks of make NO sense in 3d. ever. but they're popular anyway. shit like teenage robot and all that.
>>81603028
here's the thing man.. at its most basic? just think of your panels in order. as simple shots-in-order. Something akin to a newspaper comic or even a cartoon storyboard. yeah? then put the panels in order, all the same.
now ask yourself.. does this one need to be so big? could this one use more room? does that one need to be a square? nah, it could be like this. hey could this panel fit INSIDE that panel? i bet it could. it's just a face reacting, there's space for that
and so on
i do it as i go, but most people plan it out in sketch form first. you can move around and stretch and shrink the sketches before finalizing it
>>81603028
I usually look at hentai doujins, they have good panel layouts. But when looking for inspiration I get a boner and have to fap, losing all motivation to do anything after that.
>>81602274
Oooh look out guys. This guy watched whiplash and thinks he's fletcher.
>>81602919
Note: Do not actually use draw a box
>>81603028
>I don't know where to even begin with panel layouts.
I won't claim to have anything beyond the most basic understanding of panel layouts, but a lot of great comics were made on a simple grid and it's a pretty good starting point. 3x3 or 2x4 are best to work with, imo. From there, you can start using panels that take up more than one space on the grid or abandoning it altogether when you've got a better idea.
>Do you do thumbnails of the page beforehand and then pick the one you like the best?
This is the smart way to do it, yeah. The more work you can get done during the thumbnail stage, the better. Try to force yourself to doing more than one version, even on really straightforward pages.
>>81603316
Note: Do use it, this guy is an idiot.
>>81602748
>>81602781
What if I already can draw proper figures? I practice figure drawing daily and can do a decent job referencing from photos but my realistic figures don't have a charm.
>>81604022
then you'll get no respect in these threads. not from the constructionfags, and not from me who likes flat symboly cartoons just fine but not THAT kind of cartoons. at all.
but respect aint everything
>>81589501
>Why are you creating a comic?
To use my time in a more creative way.
>What is your end goal?
Making a comic.
>Does your story have a message?
Not an intended one at least.
>Are you trying to teach or tell?
Show and tell.
>Do you have an end in mind for your story?
I haven't made a final decision yet.
>>81604022
Then apply the concepts you use with more complex realistic forms to the simpler construction of the cartoon style.
What are you having trouble with, exactly?
rough lines for 5
>>81604530
this, i think, is where people get confused
when people suggest realism, they mean (or SHOULD mean) that when you practice realism, you have something to compare it to, to see how you did. That way you know it's working or not working.
then you take the TECHNIQUES you used, the construction techniques, not specifically the method of copying something real, in order to make things look sensible and functional
>>81594539

>>81612596
(Much appreciated, by the way!)
>>81613299
what does this mean
>>81613299
not that i give two shits about inclusion and shit but i actually wish i hadnt made all my characters so white. i really made them too pale because i had bad color balance issues in my eyes.. aaand maybe my monitor. plus they had pre-existing family ties that demanded they match in skin tone, and the only oliveskinned asianish guy had one adopted kid and one half alien, so the regularhumans all ended up white as fuck.
plans for far-future installments with a new cast include an olive toned main guy, brown girl, and albino girl, so that'll be more interesting for sure.
>want to make a comic set in a fucking nonsense environment like Awful Hospital
>cant figure out how to make it work or why my character would be in the situation to begin with
does anyone have some example of work like this, where the world the story is set in operates on the laws of "because i can"
>>81613703
without knowing what awful hospital is, it sounds a lot like Tom Goes to the Mayor
depends just how nonsense you mean though. are we talking full on Pee-Wee's Playhouse level of nonsense?
in any case if it's nonsense that kinda explains why your character is there. because there isnt the usual amount of sensible things keeping them OUT of there
>>81613815
>Awful Hospital
It's a CYOA comic like Problem Sleuth or Prequel. It's set in an awful, gross hospital. Shenanigans ensue.
My advice would be to make sure your world feels internally consistent. It can be crazy, and you don't have to explain MUCH, but make sure that whatever you put in would fit the tone of the comic.
>>81613703
did you figure your world out?
it should be easier from there
>>81613299
fuck you i love brown girls
>>81613703
I'll give you some advice from a guy who is currently basically doing that. Pick a setting you already know. Loosely base it on that. It gives you a "default reaction" for how the world should work, as well as giving you enough wiggle room to do things properly. I, for example, am doing one based on Space Station 13, but I can arbitrarily decide that my setting actually does something more weird, so it suddenly does.
>>81603316
t. a fucking moron
>>81602817
>Alternatively, don't, because those cheap-to-animate designs look especially dull in a comic.
bullcock, the Sisters looks great. then again the artist's strong sense of color might be what's really helping it.
>>81613299
You keep saying this, but I literally can't think of a single comic in these threads starring a brown girl.
>>81613299
I don't get you. Are you imply that brown girl comics are too common or cringeworthy?
>>81602707
>I don't see a work on your art thread so I'm going to ask here.
Don't see one? Start one. You are allowed to do that, and you don't need anyone's permission to do so.
Update! What do you guys think?
>>81619357
I read the dialogue in the wrong order in the fourth panel. I think it's because there's such a strong motion from "the shop won't run itself" through their faces and into Mark's speech bubble tail. Maybe if you moved "Don't work too hard" up and to the left of the Mom's face, that would work better? Or you could move Mark's reply downward.
>>81619497
I did the same thing. I think if "Don't work too hard" transgressed the panel border on the left it would be fine.
>>81619357
It does my heart good to see transitional pages like this in narrative webcomics. Sometimes there's a temptation in webcomics to make every page a momentous occasion or a complete thought.
Also Miss Melee a cute.
>>81619357
I want to fuck that brown haired chick
>>81619357
Didn't have a problem with the reading order for panel 4, but beware of the tangents on her speechbubble intersecting with her collar.
There are also tangents on the top right "don't miss the bus!" speechbubble and the back of her jacket.

My references for the batshit insane envoirment my characters live in is a mild mixture of stuff that happens IRL, because believe it or not real life can and pretty much will always beat fiction in terms of insane stuff, as well as Paul Verhoeven films like Robocop and Starship Troopers, where society just went mad.
It took me a while to figure how I wanted to approach that background in the first panel.
It doesn't take me too long to draw bombed out ruins, it just need to have the right component and doesn't have to follow particular vanishing points, but still standing buildings are a different story.
>>81622580
that background is awesome, good work.
>>81622580
For reference, here is the first attempted, the first panel was pretty bad so I had to draw a more involved version, I tried drawing this page 3 times, abandon previous attempt for difference reasons. I wish I know how to draw cuter girls...
>>81617522
Annabeth... I think?
Might be a girl... and was brown at one point in time.
>>81613299
You can really tell when an artist designs characters to fulfill fetishes.
>>81622580
Sweet background, but the anatomy seems kinda messed up in the second panel. Like the body below the breasts is drawn at a different scale to everything above that. Either move the breasts up or the crotch down, depending on how many heads tall she's supposed to be.
>>81623130
Thanks, man,I had a inkling of it, but I didn't quite finger it until you point it out. Although splicing it back might be a bit a of pain.
>>81617522
I'm working on one but it's more /aco/, teehee.

It took me a few looks to even notice anything was wrong, so if it's too much of a bother it might be best just to move on.

>>81622580
I feel your pain.
I design stuff like this bg first, now.
Okay I think I've finally gotten dialogue that I don't hate in panel 2, but I'm gonna let it sit for a bit to see if I can't refine it. Already so late there's no point in rushing it.

Well, that's an out-and-out fetish comic marketed towards people with that fetish. A fetish comic having characters based around a fetish seems about as noteworthy as a superhero comic having characters with impossible superpowers.
>>81616271
color and a lot of upgrades to the formula. the way it started out the art was pretty unappealing but even back then you could see the essence of better skill in the way certain things were done. it was flat as fuck, but the framing was great. and now it's beginning to grow some better depth and form
that and just damnright appealing designs for the most part, which is weird because most of those modern / a decade ago cheap-to-animate designs as you put it purposely use just ugly grotesque proportions, but this somehow works. they don't exaggerate reality for exaggeration's sake, but to evoke real images, things we've all seen in real people from time to time
>>81619682
>>81619787
jeez you guys, some of us want to take her on a nice date. maybe to olive garden. you're movin' too fast.
>>81627901
>art started out pretty unappealing
We...super agree. The first issue and the Society were done like, a year before the Fundamentals. During which the style got to evolve a lot and have the better qualities that actually make it work.
Someday if we ever have actual money, I'd have us go back redo it. Because it could look a lot better and it is a sort of rough "barrier of entry", because that's where we introduce the whole cast. Even the Fundamentals isn't great, but it is of a notably different quality than what came before it. But as it stands now, we've got no real way to get that done and still move forward and work on other projects.
As far as >>81616271 is concerned, it helps a lot that the artist does know actual anatomy and can thus exaggerate it with "short-hand" rather than realistic designs. He isn't someone who went from simple to complex, he went complex to simple (and yes our initial starting stuff was too simple and stiff). And yes, the color stuff really does help.
>>81628383
well i didn't add, but was going to, that the early chapters help justify the lingering stylistic aspects of the later chapters. they serve as a neat sort of introduction.. kinda like early garfield does. i wouldn't change it.

It's not so much a webcomic as it is a comic hobby project I do which I put online. I usually upload a chapter a year (I have a very demanding full time job unfortunately) which means that it hasn't really got many readers because I'm so infrequent with updates. I'm thinking of uploading the pages as I do them (which most webcomics do) but that would change the way the story is told (I'd be trying to make every single page lead up to something worthwhile)
Anyway. It's not perfect, but I'm learning a lot going through the motions.

Saving up money to print these two issues real nice and send them to Image Comics, I read their submission outlines on their website and they seemed reasonable. They also say on there that they may set you up with different colorists/letterers, which I'm fine with, and may change the title to be more marketable (which I'm also fine with, the title these two issues have are just in line with the naming convention of my other long running webcomic)

fuck it, SPECIAL EFFECTS EVERYWHERE!!!! this is the big finisher to the final battle to determine earths current fate after all
the conclusion to the brawl between the last two demon gods on earth, technically.... demon juice and the other fire knights are just fused into the black fire armor of the ancient dark one, lord god of black light and black fire, same difference since they are his descendants and he was there ancestor
>>81642411
That's in the comment you faggot.

It's easier to search by title. Anyone with a brain knows this.

bump, page art is done
>>81637756
Yep, you can draw for 10 years and don't improve much or you can focus your studies and learn far more in a year. The question is - do you really want to learn? Maybe it's not the hard, repetitive, yet meaningful practice but the unskilled free doodling that works for you. Just don't expect to reach a high level if you don't put your mind into it.
>>81644868
and its done, i hope yall like it, more pages here: http://demonjuice.thecomicstrip.org/
>other thread just went 404
o-okay...goodbye compliments and (You)s
>>81646208
embarrassing
Well, how do you guys think it's turning out?
>>81650542
beckys side view is off, eyes too eye, chin to in,
and her neck in the others are too extended,
her face looks a bit hurr durr but that may be intentional?
good gray shading
>>81652145
Eh... is this better?
>>81653458
a tiny bit more back
and change her face in the third panel
that mouth was because she was talking, but she not in the next one
>>81634972
>>81635560
i guess i should have been more specific
on your site you have a few pages that are fully colored and complete
and then there are pages that are just 1 tone with 1 shade of color
the pages that have really detailed colors look great! i just dont understand why you didnt keep up with that?

How twee and kawaii can a comic's art style get before the general audience stops taking it seriously?
I was doodling and accidentally came up with a Thumbelina x Mouse Guard x Chosen One Saves The World Fantasy story and I was wondering if going full Hakumei to Mikochi with the art would be too off the tone for something where the adorable mouse sidekick's entire family gets graphically devoured by army ants.
>>81657468
Do it. Pairing cute with horrific can work well if properly delivered and your concept sounds fun.
>>81657468
cute isn't just one thing, that's the thing. there's goodcute that's based on like, aesthetics and geometry, and then there's grossawfulcute like typical weird leprechaun decorations. you can never have enough goodcute. even if it's very serious.
that said, hakumei to mikochi has characters that appear to be two heads tall. that's not 'too cute' it's just too chibi.. you can do that with ugly too if you wanted. that limits hard the ability to make a lot of important dynamic poses. and for example, while the family is being devoured by ants... like.. what, two or three are carrying off one tiny stub arm, while a swarm of them have to carry the head together? or like, where would the sting marks be? theyd have to be different sizes to make sense on the different body parts see. so yeah..
in any case, i'm not seeing any cute in this example you've given. photorealistic mouse and almond-eyed flatfaced humanoid do not really show me 'cute'. the mouse shows me serious and the tinyperson shows me 'western flash cartoon' (designwise. obviously not colorwise where it's fantastic)
either way i fucking want to see this
also i suggest you look up some old wind in the willows shit, or stuff like Pelen Purul, for style perspective and inspiration. shit, is pelen purul archived? i hope so. god i hope copyrezo is still alive.
any fixes/suggestions?
>>81658185
looks good to me
>>81657976
oooh or lit'l bits. i've always wanted to see someone do a little tiny people fantasy adventure that apes lit'l bits.
>>81545617
I wish we could ban anime/manga style comics here. They are literally cancer.
>>81658375
how is that anime style?
>>81658375
Your narrowmindedness is the real cancer.
>>81654853
Ah, you mean the bits in the desert? I was trying to make every section of the story feel different with colour, but I didn't pull it off too well. The second chapter is a little better and hopefully the third will be baller.
>>81658375
No matter how they look, they are western and they belong in /co/.
>>81657976
Chibis are super cute, though, with their babby proportions and all.
>in any case, i'm not seeing any cute in this example you've given.
Yeah, that's the less-cutesy version that I was thinking of pulling back to. Going full chibi would be something more like this, with more human eyes for the cute mice and the thumbelinoids only being three heads tall rather than 5. I really think I could make the posing work - 3-headers can't join their hands together right above their heads, which isn't a mandatory pose, but aside from that the only real problem would be keeping the poses in balance with the big heads.
>>81657976
>>81658201
Hadn't heard of Pelen Purul or Littl' Bits before. I'll have to give them a look-see.
Boy I haven't been to these threads in a while. I recently made a couple pages for my comic? I was thinking of doing it panel by panel like this. I also wanted to see if I could just use my animation skills somewhere in the middle of it as well since, fuck, why not? I feel like the font might be a bit distracting though.
I'm making something.
>>81659745
Yeah, the font seems kind of irregular with all the different heights.
I think this joke kind of works, but I don't know if the presence of the kids in the final panel here make it more funny or just sad.Sorry waifuanons, she's used goods.
I thought about making a webcomic about two qt foxgirls (human girls with fox ears and tail) that are the law enforcement of the forest
They're childish and super qt that go around enforcing the law, yet are corrupted sometimes.
But I'm wondering if I should go that route, I was going to do something where the foxgirls really hate the goblins, since all they do is cause trouble, trash everything, degrade the property value and spread chaos.
So one of them says "Man, these goblins are a pain in my tail, I bet if all those smelly goblins were gone, there would be no more crime in this forest"
Then the other says "Why don't we just get rid of them then?"
As the other finds the idea as horrible and just plain evil, she starts thinking about it and begins to agree.
So I was going to do a part where the fox girls get fed up of the goblins and form a death squad to wipe them out...But then I thought that was too dark, what do you guys think?
....Or just keep it cute and innocent?
>>81660189
The Goblins are represented as black people, aren't they..
>>81660224
No, I swear they're not. Just Goblins
>>81660237
DON'T LIE TO ME!!!!!!!!!!!
>>81660189
so you hate black people, anon. I mean that's fine and stuff. I get it
>>81660224
>>81660264
>>81660304
Well hold on, I can play this card too. So you all immediately thought blacks, you believe they cause trouble, trash everything, degrade the property value and spread chaos? Oh, I think I see the real bad people here and it's not me.
>>81660349Who said I was judging you or thought you were wrong? Some blacks are like Goblins sometimes, so do the webcomic
>>81660371
Well I might not want to go that route with the Foxcops since it might cause a backlash
>>81660189
Just keep it cute and innocent. You don't want to stoop to Maldraw-tier edginess.
Has anyone here ever tried using things like lot savers or story generators?
http://britishman00.deviantart.com/art/Plot-Saver-List-135736029
http://writers-den.pantomimepony.co.uk/writers-plot-ideas.php
I'm pretty terrible when it comes to coming up with story ideas, so I've been trying these out, but some of the suggestions are so wierd or so out there, that I can't really use them for my own works.
Maybe its just me thats the problem, I want to get more creative, and better at story plotting.
Is a gamer comic a good idea now?
>>81661376
It's as good of an idea as it's ever been for the last 10 years.
Holy shit it`s still alive
>>81661376
>Hey. Video games.
>They aren't like real life.
>Funny, huh?
>We're two gamers who live in a flat.
>We have zany adventures.
Avoid these.
>>81659995
Involving kids in tragic events is ALWAYS funnier!
>>81659173
Yeah, 3 heads also is sort of my standard for "diminutive people". It really depends on the tone you want; something more serious will work better with >>81657468 's proportions.
>>81613299
I honestly can't think of one besides minor characters; I know /co/ tends to have a boner for brown girls, but besides /co/llette there isn't much

>>81670150
Really? I use Photoshop and I can never figure out how to get the screentone right. I've tried screentone brushes and filters and none of it looks how I want it.
>>81670543
It's too amateur looking, even for the simplistic stylization common in anime. Your art is a step up from explosm stick figures, but below the simple but confident lines of the anime look artists like to emulate.
>>81670679
if u cant figure it out, u can paste a screen tone layer and cut the traditional way.
google images screentones
>>81670815
Holy shit I can't believe this thought has never occurred to me man do I feel stupid
>>81659173
see this is much cuter. not because of the proportions but because there's a little punipuni to the cheeks, a nice geometrically pleasing eye shape, and pupils that don't fill the whole eye. i freakin love it
>>81659840
going meta, eh?
>>81660237
just once i kind of would like to see a story that takes the standpoint of 'these people really are just bad. they're intrinsically different, not just superficially different like races are. they should die' and then explore that
>>81661565
holy shit YOU'RE still alive!
>>81667961
i hate them too. let's kill them.
