Was there something other than that IGN interview with Dave? All he say is "not necessarily" which is weak as hell even before you consider it's Filoni saying it.

That entire article reads like him cockteasing the fandom on every page. The most I'd agree with from the article is that Rebels isn't about her, so she can only play parts and shouldn't remain on center stage. So if she returns expect her to do so late in the game, similar to season 1.
Actually if Filoni wants to be entirely dickish about it, I'd love it if Fulcrum returns, complete with voice modulator, only nobody knows who it is beyond someone offering occasional missions and intel. Then he NEVER REVEALS WHO IT IS. Just leaves people wandering if she's back or not.

I'm wary.
As someone who likes Ahsoka but also likes the rest of Star Wars, it's becoming unnerving to me why they won't just kill her off. She obviously isn't in the OT. They're using weasel words to get around her violating Yoda's words to Luke in ROTJ. How long is she going to be around now? Is she going to last until the sequel trilogy? Will we see her in Episode VIII or IX?
Maybe I'm paranoid, but Ahsoka's persistence is on the verge of confirming all my worst fears about Disney owning Star Wars. She's a popular, fan favorite character from The Clone Wars, so they're willing to muck about with the storytelling to keep her around. They care more about people buying Ahsoka merch than they care about maintaining a certain integrity in their handling of the stories of Star Wars. I don't like it.
So we already knew there was gonna be a bit of a timeskip and updated character models, but now that the finale is over, what does everyone think the changes are gonna be like
Sabine I figure will just get a new paintjob/hair dye, maybe a bit of tinkering with her armor (that jetpack she wished for?)
Hera hopefully will get some improvements to her jump suit.
Zeb I figure won't change too much.
Ezra will probably look a couple years older, obviously, but clothes will probably just be utilitarian stuff.
Kanan? No clue, will he continue to wear a bandana over his eyes? Will he have blind/white/empty eyes (despite the apparent damaged model he sported in a few blink-and-you'll-miss-it shots), or what?

Hilariously the upgrade is more useful for them to get the fuck away from people than for attack, but then the Inquisitors are the hunting dogs of the Empire. They sniff out the Force Sensitive, run them to ground, and if they prove too much they call in Big Daddy Vader to deal with it.

It's weird, but I hope that the book doesn't have "too much" content. Obviously I want something that does a good job explaining Ahsoka's actions and development between TCW and Rebels, but I feel that there's a good deal of story there and am afraid that if too much is covered that the potential for organically expanding on her character, and therefore the odds of more future Ahsoka-related content, will be diminished.

I don't see why not. There are other Force Sensitive cultures. The Dagoyan Masters, the Night Sisters (if they even still exist). We've even seen species or at least beings who have adapted to the Force in strange ways. That frog faerie Threepio and Artoo met, for one, and the fish monster that gave the Night Sisters their Waters of Life.
A culture derived from humanity stuck in a world where, for whatever reason, they were rendered blind and have learned to see with the Force isn't entirely far fetched. In fact I can imagine an episode where Kanan has to hunt down these people having heard of them from old Legends (har har) to help him deal with his own blindness.

People need to stop taking the OT as gospel though. For two reasons.
First, it works as a self-contained thing. You can take it by itself, with the prequels, with the other shit, whatever. Hell I don't have a problem watching the movies as Lucas' story and enjoying the spinoff stuff in its own way. Point is, nothing can actually ruin those movies because everything is derived from them.
Second, there wasn't even a plan with the OT. Lucas made it up and changed things as he went along. I mean, so you remember the "certain point of view" scene? The one that everyone memes about? That was Lucas covering his ass!
These movies do not need to be so revered or taken so literally. And people really need to stop fussing about canon, Disney or Legends, cause that road only leads to frustration. Just enjoy what you enjoy and interpret things in whatever way suits you best.

That's nice, but you do realize that was combat training. He still needed Chopper to lead him around, and later Ezra.
He can sense things but he's not a Force dolphin or, frankly, Daredevil. They gave him something he'll have to adapt to, not something that, "Oh we just took your eyes but you have the Force so it's basically like we didn't." He'll have to learn new methods, and basically connect with the Force in ways he's never had to before beyond, as they showed, training to deflect attacks.
This is something meant to lead into development, something for them to show, not just shrug away, otherwise they might as well just get him some cyborg replacements and call it a day.

Except for Vader, no one renounces being a Sith. The Season 2 finale made it pretty clear he is very much adherent to their teachings and traditions. Darth Maul is still a Sith Lord and will remain so till he is dead.

I just realized something in the phrasing of Ahsoka's and Anakin's conversation towards the end.
Anakin says her name two times, and then Ahsoka says that she won't leave him this time.
Anakin then says 'then you will die'. Notice the then. It's almost like he was pleading for her to leave without saying anything, and they were so in tune with each othe Asoka picked up on that, prompting her to say she won't leave this time.

Maul won't reform because the Sith way is sadly all he's ever known. He doesn't even remember his real name anymore. He only learned he had a brother when he met Savage and only learned who his mother was before Son of Dathomir started.
Ventress was barely a child when she was taken from the night sisters, lived among pirates, was trained as a Jedi for a fair portion of her childhood, and then fell to the Dark Side when her Master was killed. She also had the Night Sisters to help her find her way. Maul lost all of that. He's alone and all he has is his training and his need for revenge.
As much as Maul hates what was done to him and the family he was taken from he doesn't really remember anything nice or any other way of life. Their loss is just something that adds to his hate and anger. Ventress was able to reconnect with her past and find a way to give up the Sith way, even though she lost it soon after. She kept trying to find something better. That's just not something it's possible to imagine Maul doing but not because he's crossed any morale line. It's because he has nothing better to live for. He's too set in his ways.

You have to understand the Dark Side and the Sith. The Dark Side is greed, jealousy, anger, hate, fear. The Sith view only themselves as important, they only help others when it ultimately serves their own goals.
The Sith cannot be selfless. It is not in their nature. Doing so as a Sith would be a sign of weakness, a cardinal sin in their philosophy.
By Lucas' own rules an act of self-sacrifice like that is one of the truest acts of good one can do. It doesn't erase the wrong you've done, it doesn't remove the stain of your legacy, but it is an act that proves you are beyond what the Sith are. It is truly an act of redemption, as true an act as anything you can do in Star Wars.

You have to remember the nature of the trap. By the end of TCWs series Yoda knows that Dooku isn't the real Sith Lord, that the war is engineered, and that the Clones were created by the will of the Sith. He knows the Jedi have strayed from their true path however they are so deep into it now the only hope they have is victory.

Yoda in Empire is harsh, but he has good reason to be. Before the finale as aired on the stream we watched TCWs episodes about Ahsoka being tried for treason. You could see how pissed Anakin was when he shouted that the Council had already decided to turn her over to the Republic. Yoda tolerated this because he viewed Anakin's emotions were reflections of his care and loyalty to his friends. But ultimately Anakin fell because of his emotions.
So along comes Skywalker 2.0, just as in love with heroism and adventure and emotional and Yoda is thinking that this little shit I'm supposed to train could just as easily become the next Vader.
Ben was far kinder when he told Luke that his emotions do him credit, but they could be made to serve the Emperor. And Yoda in ROTJ was all around a much kinder, sympathetic figure. He really wished Luke had never found out about his father because of how much more terrible and painful it makes his destiny.
Basically Empire Yoda was putting Luke through Force boot camp for two reasons: one was because the training had to be rushed, a lifetime of Jedi education condensed into however long they had. The other reason was to try to break Luke of his habits that get in the way of being a Jedi.

Maul was pretty cunning in how he handled Ezra. Used his kindly old man voice, fought alongside them, defended Ezra from Eighth Bro while shouting Ezra's name as if concerned. The one time he seemed most threatening, about not killing SS, with the suggestion if Ezra disobeys again he'll be killed by Maul, Maul quickly covers it up with his kindly voice mentioning such hesitation could also get his friends killed.
Maul has basically stolen as many pages from Sheev's handbook as possible, up to and including finding the new hotness Force user to seduce to the Dark Side. Given Anakin knew everything Sidious had done in the war he still fell for it. The Dark Side can make you be a total dumbass. Depends on how much Ezra has picked up already. The holocron responded to him, though, and Maul said to open it you either need to be a Sith...or think like one.

Though it was good to see Ezra cry and Kanan comforting him. that's something that's to often skipped in cartoons.
The finale felt like one big pussy fart. The only thing of resonance that happened is Kanan's blindness. The lack of commitment to Ahsoka's demise was awfully cheap and only undermined Vader, Ahsoka, and their relationship.
Vader had some great lines throughout the episode, though. And it still manages to be the best episode of Rebels yet, probably. That speaks to Rebels middling quality more than anything.

I'd say it did. His revival was stupid to begin with, but the fact he's still hanging around like some kind of cockroach is embarrassing and comical. His character was used fairly well in the episode though, I agree--even if it felt like he existed merely to kill off the Inquisitors. Ezra's Dark Side temptation doesn't have anything for the audience to hang on, though. There's not much reason to care.
Maul's revival still doesn't feel justified. His arc in TCW and Son of Dathomir was entertaining, but not enough to warrant something as dumb as bringing him back to life. I feel the same way about him in Rebels so far.

I just wish that, apart from Kallus, there were more villains that actually followed the Rebels as the series progressed. Have the villains be stronger than the heroes to begin with, then when when the hero outclasses them have them attempt to get stronger to outclass the hero or something. We had Inky and Tua die, then the inquisitors introduce in season 2 were killed off and Kallus may end up getting a redemption arc.

Instead of having him acknowledge all the atrocities that he has done and try to work beyond that, they decided to go with the 'I actually didn't do it and was only taking credit for it' excuse. I think this is close to the truth.
If Ahsoka goes back to the Rebels, Vader and the Empire will hunt them with even more vigor. However if she appears to die there's a chance that they'll have a small amount of breathing room and she might be able to effect things on a small scale in the background.
To do all this she needs to be invisible and, like Yoda living near a dark-side cave, living in a Sith monument would be a good way to mask her Jedi heat-signature.
From Vader's point of view if she's dead or if she's just out of the way permanently (as I think he might suspect) the effect is the same in his eyes and he can turn his Rebel hunting resources elsewhere.

Mortis had really good bits, but was a mess as a whole. Most of the scenes were really well done, but they just didn't add up.
I mean, we have several really good scenes with Anakin being shown his future, but they're totally inconsistent with each other. In one scene, he rejects the future vision of himself. He doesn't want to do what he will have to. So the son offers him a chance to join him and defy his destiny, which Anakin accepts. But in the very next scene, Anakin's joined the son, and has gone full Vader, and gives Obi-Wan this big speech where he's totally accepted what he'll have to do to fulfill the prophecy. But then the next time we see him he's 180'd again.
You can have Anakin reject his destiny, or accept it. Both are really interesting character development pieces, and the scenes are individually REALLY good and well written and directed, but they make no sense with each other.
