I actually think the show went downhill with the animation change, and the humor focused less on him being a lonely loser and more on silly stuff. Also, very few episodes at all focused on him being a critic

So was this a long time coming or did she just fucking snap under the pressure and paranoia of being Fire Lord? Her "reign" lasted all of like 4 hours before she was overthrown and her decent into madness was damn near instantaneous. Way to fuck that up hardcore.
It was always there. When she does her Fire Kata in front of the granny twins she has a lock of hair fall in her face. She looks defiantly angry at that one bit of hair getting in the way and from then on at the slightest misstep she goes mental. But the snapping doesn't really happen until Mei's and Tai Lee's betrayal.
She respected Mei greatly and may have been in love with Tai Lee. When the betrayal happened the idea that one thing out of place has ruined her went on to consume her. She chops up her hair, banishes a handmaiden and One of the Granny...

The first time I saw this, i thought it was the stupidest idea ever, but it turned out to be a pretty good story and I am pretty hyped to learn how it is going to end. Tho i did not like [Spoiler]**What they did to Peter and Captain America**[/spoiler], I still think it is one of my favourites.
