This show is actually good. People are always so busy talking about how dark it is, but no one ever mentions that it's a good show. The character development in season 3 is pretty greatwith the exception of Nurse Bendy, because her being retarded seemed like too much of an asspull.But yeah, pretty good.

Can we talk about this series?
I love the setting. I love this world where all fiction, from mythology to medieval epics to classical literature exists in the same universe. First two volumes were fantastic.
But I can't get into Century. Skimmed it a few times in the bookstore, and it doesn't have the same feel.

>Orlando, whose character is mostly just "super-horny immortal person."
Also, I think it was a bad move on Alan's part to try to put in ABSOLUTELY ALL FICTION. I can get behind 1984, James Bond and pulp literature characters, but I feel it's too much when he puts in things like Harry Potter, especially if that wouldn't make sense with the rest of the world.
I like the Nemo series, though, even if Janni isn't that likable. Can't believe Amazon fucked up my order for Roses of Berlin.

Harry Potter works fine when you consider everything else the books have covered in the text-only sections and the Blazing World - but not without some criticism of the vaguely-defined magical principles.
And it's interesting that in an age where there's a lot of talk about diversity in comics and whatnot Moore makes a series about a middle-aged indian woman with a husband and kids work, but that barely gets any attention.
I think Century was a mistake. I get wanting to tell a story across that time span with 3 immortals, but it really just ended with a whisper.
The only parts of it I liked were the background characters from popular culture, the Bonds, and Jerry Cornelius showing up now and again.
Black Dossier should be the ending. Much better. A last mission to steal back the dossier before retiring to the blazing world.

Is there any writer in modern comics that writes characters worse than Hickman?
The dialogue in his books is so dull and lifeless. The characters feel like they're made of cardboard, they have no voice, no personality, nothing that gives them "character." The moments where he does try to give a character a personality moment, with some sort of gag or quip, it feels so forced and unnatural that it's off putting.
Does anyone like him?
