I wanted to go to AX really badly, but I didn't want to go without dressing up in some way, so I let my other hobby bleed into this one a bit and I just wore my gucci Crye stuff and a bunch of /k/ related patches.

Okay, so I've been in this fashion for nearly 10 years and have done hours upon hours worth of research into this topic and have found nothing concrete explaining why it's called Lolita. Everyone has been saying it has nothing to do with the book since the dawn of time, but there doesn't seem to be any real evidence supporting this claim. There's several different theories about how the name has come up, but none have any proof, just some random person...

I think the reason lolita is called lolita is because the fashion was an effort to counteract women being sexualaized so maybe it was an effort for young girls to take back the word from its pedophilia context?? idk just my therory based on things ive read

What's the best way to get the word out about cosplay photoshoots? I hosted one last year and despite having it listed in the cosplay.com forum's schedule, and posting about it here and there weeks beforehand, I think the only people that came (maybe 10 total) were ones I spotted around the convention and gave them info about it.
Is there a better more universal way to advertise?
I can't fucking wait. It's gonna be sad that there's only one more in Baltimore.

Facebook has never steered me wrong. Make a FB event for the gathering and spread it over various Otakon FB pages. Also make a post on Instagram and Tumblr, and tell people to spread the word around. Though I also have great luck just telling people word-of-mouth around the con, having the social media presence does help a LOT.

1) Midwest still has the intimate feel of an early-2000s con, and while the guests aren't all that good, if you're into panels and activities, it has that in spdes.
2) Midwest is run by a rapist.
