I didn't start the thread but I suggested it on the last one; it's just because 88 stands for Heil Hitler and it's the 88th thread so it doesn't have to mean anything beyond that. I remember when I was anxious about all past dedlines, and exams coming up, and everything that's pressure on me i was drawing myself out of it. All day long the worse it is the harder i need to draw to forget about it.

Two things:
1 - I love Kaworu/Rei pics
2 - Honestly, I like how he was handled in NGE, he was a compelling character and further complicated readings of Shinji's own character.
It's post-NGE Kaworu that I dislike because it took all that and reduced him to 'he so gay' while tripling his screen time at the same time. They literally did less with more.

The floor plans of her apartment show a tub, scale-wise probably an ofuro because it seems kind of compact.

My head canon is that in order to keep Seele away from her, he has her living in an empty section of the city that's getting dismantled.
Though that's undermined by the fact that if her school knows where she lives, the Illuminati can know too.
So maybe that whole area just acts as a quasi-security perimeter allowing her security detail to see any incoming irregularity from a mile away.

And then there's the external factors outside of the show's internal logic:
If Shinji's isolation is represented by his room's thin walls (with a sliding door) which can be easily breached both by him wanting to interact with others on and by others wanting to reach out to him.
He has barriers, but they're thin enough that the can be crossed (sometimes unwitingly like the time he couldn't avoid listening Misato cry after Kaji dies).
Rei's, by comparison is represented by being the sole tenant of an apartment with thick concrete walls, metal doors in an inhospitable part of the city. Probably with no other people for several blocks around her. She could hurt, scream or cry and that wouldn't reach anyone because of how far removed she is from everyone.

I like my theory, but I have to recognize where it has holes and when Touji is tasked with taking Rei's school papers to her Hikari tried to offer to go with him. That means she knows where she lives which is probably because the School administration knows. From there you can assume that the Marduk institute knows or can know too, and since Seele is behind Marduk, then it can't be that Gendo is hiding her from them. So I amended my theory with the security perimeter idea: she's living there to make it easier for Nerv Security to prevent Seele to get to her.
