What happened here, although not on camera is fairly obvious. The guy was reaching for his licence and told the cop he had a gun but was reaching for his licence. The cop freaked, drew his weapon and started yelling like a drill sergeant for him to not move. This scared the shit out of the guy who instantly put his hands up to avoid getting shot and got shot for moving his hands after reaching for something.

Why do american cops think it is ok to start yelling like they are soldiers on the front line? Why do they draw their weapons and create a high stress situation whenever they feel like they have a chance(however small) of being in danger? I just think these officers need more training. I would say the overwhelming majority of officers that shoot a victim are not bad people, they just lack discipline. I highly doubt they wake up in the morning excited about killing people. More in-depth training would drastically reduce the amount of wrongful deaths and accidental shootings. Look at our military. If he and the officer were already interacting when he mentioned his gun he was simply doing as he was supposed to. If he initiated contact with the police by telling them about his weapon, then yes possibly brandishing.

From my perspective the driver did nothing wrong, the cop shouldn't have reacted like that to a man legally carrying a firearm. Even if he didn't have a licence to carry AND was actually reaching for his gun the cop shouldn't have fired.

Because the cop at this moment in time knows there is a good chance that this man isn't currently drawing a gun on him. Instead of taking that small % risk to his own life he takes an almost 100% risk to the other guy by shooting the man 4 times.

He is a cop, part of his job description is to risk his own safety to protect citizens. This is not what he did here, he was doing the exact opposite. This situation was safer without his input and the country would be a safer place with him and others like him behind bars.
