From the way i'm looking at it, fluffy mother leaves nice warm den. Another fluffy comes in and kidnaps one of the babies taking it back to her nest which is exposed to the elements. Then the final panel shows all the foals (presumably hers) that died due to the elements.

Most of the Artists can draw humans for shit, but they do decent Fluffies. Its not that hard. So, try it. It is inevitable, anyways.
You also don't have to start with outright gore. You can work your way up. Start with some Fluffy studies. Do some hugbox, do some sadbox and then test the waters with abuse.
You can ask around for tips, and people gladly help you.
There is usually a slower thread over in >>/trash/ where you can post your wip-stuff and get feedback.
Otherwise there is always the booru.
