I think the thing that bothers people is how... sensible this all seems. Fluffies as a product make sense, the only thing that is lacking is the realistic technology to create another intelligent creature, not even make one that looks like a Fluffy, we can do that, but specifically to make them talk and create such "built in" intelligence.

However, it was possible, such abominations would be created, shit, there's probably a corp out there that has tried.

The only unrealistic thing is the sheer rate that abuse is tolerated, they would obviously be treated like other animals, and with their ability to communicate you'd probably see even more protesting in favor of their rights. Their actual existence is sensible, though, because someone would definitely TRY this shit if they could.
