How is KOTR 2015? Is it worth watching?
>>
>>1304771
I watch the show on viceland but today I just watched the webisodes for kicks and realized there are some differences in footy for the tricks + they dont tell you awards like gnarliest drop-in over the clip.

watch it forsure.
>>
>>1304771
It's fun so far and it's only 44 minutes long, you can catch up pretty quick
>>
>>1304797
would you say the ones on viceland are the better version?

Braille's channel is pretty top teir. But is the SMS worth the 10$ for a beginner or am I basically getting the samething as the youtube channel with less rambling?
>>
>>1304818
You can learn just from their YouTube videos.
>>
>>1304818
Download the thing on pirate bay, it's just the first volume but that should help you decide
>>
>>1304817

the viceland ones are full episodes, like 40+ minutes.

>>1304818

Just torrent it, dood. It's the same but tiered from beginner to advanced.

i need help with wheels. i need something not too hard because of how rough the roads are around my neighborhood but not too soft.
>>
>>1304829
Try looking into Ricta clouds and Spitfire 80HD for soft but street capable wheel.
>>
>>1304763
for future ref op, you have to put esg in the subject or comment field for it to show up in a catalog search

>>
>>1304932
yep the red version is definitely trick capable, the blues not so much but a really top tier "getting to new skate spot" wheels. so yeah i suggest trying them out. if you dont want those(which i say are the best soft ones) other popular alternatives are spitfire 80hd, bones atf and oj keyframes.
>>
>>1304829
i can only find sms volume 1 though. can you tell me where to find more?

not that anon but you're probably not gonna find em. I did some heavy searching a few months ago when I started. don't worry about it, everything he talks about in them he shows on his channel. when you get down the first volume just check out the website to see what order he shows them in, and learn each trick in that order if you want
>>
tfw no fruitboot general
>>
>>1304817
It really depends on how you feel about the forced documentary aspect of it. On the show you get to hear the skaters talk more. Sometimes its forced and you can feel them performing, other times you get some fun insights into their minds or history of shit. The webisodes feel more true to KOTR.

I would recommend checking out both to be honest. Watch the viceland ep first, then follow up later in the week with the webisodes to get a pickmeup/recap.

Does anyone have any experience with Industrial trucks? I bought a pair for my first skateboard and I'm not sure if they're going to fit or not, as I haven't received my board yet which a friend is giving to me.

But are they good trucks? Will they last? I can't really find anything on them except this one youtube video with like, 50 views saying they're bad and all 3 comments saying they were alright. They were $60 AUD and the cheapest in my local skateshop, I can easily exchange them for the more expensive $90 but I want to know if they're worth the effort.

I remember when I was a 14 year old insecure kid trying to learn how to skate. I would hang out at the skate park working on my basic tricks and watching the big kids do cool stuff. A lot of kids would call me a poser because I wore skate shoes and hung around the park without being able to get up on the big rails and such. I tried to understand what exactly they meant by it, but couldn't. I was just enjoying skateboarding, trying to learn.

Well, I recently bought a new board at age 26 to get back into it and I cant fucking believe this poser bullshit is still a thing today, even in fucking adults. That shit is so far from what I always recognized as the general skateboarding mentality, but apparently there are enough insecure assholes in this scene to keep shit culture like that going forever
>>
>>1305751
Well a poser nowadays is someone who claims to know how to skate when in reality they can't even stand on a board.
If you are actually willing to fall and learn, you aren't a poser
>>
>>1305751
did someone actually call you a poser? Just buy a supreme 5 panel and do some body varials and that'll shut them up.
>>
>>1305592
Cheers, it's a 7.75. I used to skate 7.6 but I'm just getting back in to skating so decided to widen it up a bit. Probs gonna swap out the wheels for something a little softer and put some bones reds in there (some enjoi bearings in there atm, ABEC 3 apparently)

Yeah mate, someone actually called me a poser, but I didnt care about that. I talked about it later with some friends who never quit skating like I did, and I understand its a common attitude towards new people among some parts of the scene and that pissed me off a little.

I just dont get that theres anything wrong with being interested in skateboarding on your own terms. Even if you suck or stagnate or dont commit or just wear the clothes or like watching the videos and dont even skate, fuck it.. do what you want. It doesn't hurt anyone.

the people that legitimately say poser and shit like that have to latch onto skateboard culture to define themselves and have nothing else to look to, so they get all weirdly personal and defensive over it

>>
>>1306769
For a 8 inch? I like 52mm wheels, but anything from 50-55mm is fine.
>>
>>1306769

I ride spitefire formula four which are almost double the price on the site you're buying from, I just checked, but in my opinion they're worth it, I've never had a single serious issue with a set of them, I've had them flatspot but its always minor and I can count on them to roll it out, they're also a different formula, so maybe this is why they tend to be better but also probably why they're expensive. But like I said if its your first board those minilogos will probably work good enough, its up to you. And 52-53 is definitely a fine size, I think lower than that and you're really going to be at the mercy of even the tiniest crack in the ground, I personally ride 55s because they wear down smaller over time anyway but yea that size is fine

Does anyone here skate while listening to music?
How do you do it? Do you have the phone in one of those jogging armbands or do you just put it in your pocket?

I think I'd be too worried about having it in my pocket if I fell or it would just feel weird having it in my pocket.

wire under shirt, disposable old ipod nano in pocket

those things can take a beating though. just get them cheap on craigslist.

but i dont really skate with music anymore i found it was distracting me
>>
>>1309223
Phone in front pocket (back foot), wire under shirt. I do it when I skate alone, which is 90% of the time. All I ever own is prepaid Androids, so I really don't give a fuck if I break it, but I do have a case on it.
>>
>>1309223
I was changing song with phone on my hand, then wheelbite hit me at pretty high speed. Rip phone. Now i skate without music.
>>
>>1309223

I've tried skating with music at the park a couple of times but I just can't do it. Too distracting for me.
If I'm just cruising to get somewhere I might have music on though.

well I can respect that.

But they are the coolest looking animal in the bear family. They could be in a black metal band, and yet they are so gentle and kind.
>>
>>1312585
Everyone will tell you to support your local skate shop. zumiez if you have none. I use skatewarehouse because it's a lot cheaper than they are, and the closest one is like 45 mins away with the smallest stock Ive seen in my life.

But a local shop will answer all your questions, set up your board for you, etc.

You can get a really quality board anywhere from like $50-$150. My most recent was $98 after shipping and tax from skatewarehouse.
>>
>>1312585
$100-120
Try to find a local shop
>>
>>1312776
>>1312670
Not that guy, but why care about local skateshops? We throw everyone else under the bus when we order things online as-is, so what makes them special?
>>
>>1312523
there have been a few posts about braille/revive and i guess i have mixed feelings so i'll try to address how i feel about it and hopefully this will be somewhat coherent

i think the real "beef" people have with braille and revive is that they never could have existed successfully in the skateboarding industry before youtube tutorials, vlogs, internet branding, etc.
a lot of them seem like very dedicated and decent skaters but just no where near as interesting as actual pros. at the end of the day i see the revive guys as businessmen first, and skaters second.

tldr; like really all their skate videos ive seen sucked afaik they just use youtube vlogging and clickbait videos to get people to buy boards lol
>>
>>1309861
Style; I dig yours
>>
>>1312797
the real advantage is that they stock only what they think is best and actually know what theyre talking about vs if you go to zumiez and have a question chances are no ones gonna be able to help

desu i just order parts online mostly though
>>
>>1312797
desu I don't care at all. Why should I pay twice as much for parts and be limited in what I can get based on a smaller inventory?

If it's a shop within a park though and the money goes to the upkeep/expansion of the park, then I'd do that.

But I just said that because everyone always told me that.
>>
>>1312797
Honestly, it's totally up to you. Support your local/regional shop if you want. Most shops are run great with decent seasonal deals, cool people, honest prices and a good place to relax/cool off when needed. There are some, however, that are in it because they know they can make a few bucks by exploiting the local skate scene since there's no shop around. If you feel the shop is worth being "loyal" to, then take pride in that. If you get a bad vibe/feel you're being financially raped, then fuck them and do what you must to get the gear you need from the place/site of your choosing. Also, many shops take care of their people via ways that go unnoticed; Artist of the Month wall, pro/am signings, video premiere events, Crazy clearance prices for back-to-school season, etc. Still, when money's tight, no shame in a ordering on a site. If you have a few extra pennies to spare or you need to cop, support that local shop
>>
>>1312843
>>1312776
>>1312670
thanks
there are literally no local stores except a zumies at the mall 45 minutes away
there are no parks within a close distance of me either so it looks like im strictly street
>>
>>1312523
I don't like but I don't hate them. They are popular among the youth
>>1312797
Knowledge, especially if you're a beginner.
Would you rather have help from someone who has years of experience in skateboarding or a college Chad who thinks longboarding and skateboards are built the same?
>>
>>1313291
I went to a Zumiez once and asked if they had any Krooked decks in stock and the dude from the counter said "we don't sell used products."
Those guys are clueless
>>
>>1313199
You'd be surprised how easy it is to find spots using google maps street view. Yesterday I spent a few hours looking around my town and tomorrow I have 4 new spots to visit that looked sick.

Don't feel bad about just using your driveway when you start though. Or just a flat parking lot.

>>
>>1314129
>>1314360
Marc and Jerry return to Enjoi? Is this even a possibility?
>>
>>1314840
Unpopular opinion but I think Enjoi is better off without them, they already have a killer team as it is.
I can see Marc joining up with Koston and Mariano
>>
>>1315015
They do have a good team but Jerry and Marc are basically legacy skaters they don't go on skate trips or stuff like that it would just be cool to see them back with louie again and have all three end their careers with Enjoi.
>>
>>1314840

On the one hand: yes because dwindle has piles of money and would love to make that powermove

On the other hand: no, because Louie runs the brand now, and got that position because he was the only one loyal to the end. Why would he want to bring back two of his exteammates who bailed and then talked shit on the company he stuck with? Plus if you haven't taken a look lately, the current enjoi team is _ridiculously_ talented, seriously one of the best teams out there, they must be staying quiet for a reason. I doubt they need two old dudes with a team of such insane rippers even if it is two of the most """"famous"""" old dudes
>>
>>1315531
True but if there was any human being on the planet who wouldn't hold a grudge against someone and completely forgive them because he knows how much the brand would benefit from that would be louie. I bet he would do it just to make ads with them again
