I hate to be a downer but I fucking hated them. I bought them because others said they were great, so maybe you'll like them. I wanted to be able to enjoy the 'wafflecup' sole or whatever , but they ground into my pinky toe on both feet like nothing else I've ever worn. Also the back of the foot opening completely destroyed my achielles. Cut it like a knife. I hope you have a better experience but for me they fucking sucked. This way when they first debuted, fwiw

Fuck. Well like I said before I've had hi's before and I loved them so hopefully this shouldn't be too different. Do you have wide feet?
>>
>>1119702

I'm honestly not too sure where my feet fall in terms of wideness but it isn't something I usually have to pay attention to so I'd assume they're not that wide. I also enjoy sk8his, they are my regular go-to shoe, I always have a pair of those in rotation and then a pair of something else, and the crocketts just did not work for my feet unfortunately

I can't find anyone to skate with around here. Went to the gym today, ride board because it's less than a mile away. I set in next to the water fountain near the door. Not 20 minutes later a dude is trying to find out who owns it. End up with 4 people attempting kickflips and pop shove its in the middle of the gym. Felt good
>>
>>1119183
I loved my pair, they had the perfect balance of boardfeel/cushioning for me and they have a layer of material underneath the suede in the toe area that makes them last a lot longer. The grip on the wafflecup is on point and also lasts a bit longer than their regular vulc soles.

It sounds like >>1119618 just got the wrong size as I didn't have any of that.

Just go somewhere where no one can see you for a while and carve. Clean up what you can already do. Enjoy it. As long as you're enjoying it and not being an obnoxious "I just started a vegan diet" guy about it, who cares when you started.

I just started 3 days ago and that's what's helped me get past that feeling.

So, day 3 of skateboarding and my wheel fell clean off while skating today. Axle nut came off and so did a speed ring. Axle nuts are just 5/16" 24TPI nuts right? What the hell are speed rings? Will any small washer that fits snugly over my truck and doesn't scrape the bearing work? I'm about to go to walmart and I want to try to fix this now instead of ordering shit online.
>>
>>1122776
Any small washer will do
>>
>>1122776

That's crazy what kind of trucks do you have? The nut is just a regular nut and speed rings literally don't matter, just don't tighten the nut down till it touches the bearing leave a millimeter of space.

>>1121977

Yeah learn switch fs 180 its definitely worth it. Or fakie 180. Pivoting around again for a 360 isn't hard at all just keep turning your shoulders. Doing them before touching the ground is what's hard.
>>
how do I learn the ollie? like I know the steps but should I learn how to jump and balance on my board first before going into the ollie? or do I just go straight into it
>>

In my experience I think it's better to just do it when you're learning.
That means

>rolling
>with some speed
>a solid pop
>pick up your knees
>don't be afraid to fall

I'm getting back into skating, I have size 12 US feet and I've got my old 8" deck, it feels a lot smaller than I remember, will a 8.25 or 8.38 be a good step up? I feel like .38 of an inch is still going to give me shit tonnes of foot overhang.
>>
>>1122736

Bigflip
>>
>>1125418

your feet are big enough that anything will feel small to you pretty much. you're just going to have to work around it. if you have enough money you should get a whole new setup - 8.5 on 159s or maybe even higher deck size on 169s. you'll definitely feel the difference then & it'll be much more enjoyable for you. don't discount the difference wider trucks will make, it'll feel alot more flowy and controllable. keep your 8" setup on the side for when you get bored & just want to do a couple flip tricks. but yea an 8.25 or 8.38 on your same trucks won't feel much different at all really.
>>
>>1125575

Fuck boys, I skate with total pussies. Buddy of mine tried doing an ollie (he's been learning them for about 4 months now and still scared to even pop down because he thinks he's going to fall) and popped the board way out and as he went to readjust the board, he dropped it from about 5 inches on his toe and he was bitching and moaning about how much pain his big toe was in and that he thinks he wont be able to skate for a few days. He complained of his toe hurting from 5pm to 2:00am.

Mind you this guy is 18 and this is his pain tolerance.

tl;dr; friend is a total kook, readjusted his board and it fell on his foot 5 inches off the ground on his toe almost resulting in tears

Yes. Secret pro tip: flip tricks are hella easy when you have a deck wider than your trucks.

>>1122776
You need to make sure it has nylock or something, like a rubber inset at the end of the nut to keep it from rattling off.

You should just buy all your stuff from a skateshop, don't go to a hardware store. There are plenty online.

dont be a pussy. I bombed a mega hill years ago. I got super road rash. I also had a gash in my elbow down to the bone. I went to the hospital and they couldnt give me stitches because the wound was too wide. After It finally Scabbed up I started skating again. I fell hit my elbow. The scab came off a little. I just glued that shit back on with blood. I couldnt move my elbow above my head for a month.

but for real you're fine. Just heal up and get back on that horse bro.

Feels really shitty man. I don't know why but whenevet this happens im usually so anxious that when my leg muscles twitch I convince myself it's a blood clot and that I'm about to die and up depressed the rest of the week because it's a reminds me that death is imminent and I'm nothing but a lonely nobody who hasn't been happy in my life and have never even jet ski'd off of a waterfall.

Get low to the point where your ass is almost on your board and try to do a powerslide. Even if you fuck up the power slide you'll just slide on your ass with no real fall and torn up jeans. Go watch destination unknown by anti hero, you'll see what I mean.
>>
>>1127436
Hover while doing them instead of trying to force a landing. When you're mid air don't slam your feet around trying to quickly do the trick and hoping you land it, instead flow into the 180 like water and make every little move very deliberate. Youre instincts are trying to have you land on your feet in a way where you can run out because we're not designed to roll. Think of yourself landing in a roll instead of a way where you can run out if you fuck up.

The right side of my stock trucks axles are noticeably shorter than the left. What the fuck? Its not normal is it? Cause i cant believe no one noticed this at the factory while they were making the mold
>>
>>1151520

What brand trucks are they? Indy & thunder have a really good return policy. You just send them pictures and they send you a new set. They're really good about it they honor most anything. That's why you always want to buy indys or thunders.

Trucks can have a problem called 'axle slip' where the axle will slip through the cast of the hangar. It sounds like that happened to you. You can bang the longer side on the ground or with a hammer and should be able to get it even again.
>>
>>1140191

You have to start them early , start them low on the transition and act like you're ollieing up to the deck. Don't start them at the coping like you would if you were ollieing back into transition
>>
>>1151691
Cant see a brand, looks like they used some shitty no name . well for the price anyway, its understandable. Gonna buy some minilogo trucks now

And the axles seem to be welded on already to the main body lkke i dont tjink its movable

Day 3 since i got my board, been practicing for an hour and a half daily and I still lose my balance when i push off. I ride goofy and my board just keeps leaning towards the left and i end up getting wheelbite. I know i have to lean towards the right more to get my board to straighten out and i actually got it for a while last night but when i tried it today, its like everything i practiced was gone and im back to square one again. It will take a few weeks anon, I had the same problem. you need to focus on keeping your front foot perfectly in the center of the board to avoid leaning as you push. it takes a while for your foot to be able to feel that sweet spot.

anytime you plant it a little too far to the left or right you can compensate by adding more weight to the other side of your foot until you can correct it. if that makes any sense...
>>
^^^ continued from above.

Here, I drew a shitty picture to better explain pushing and foot placement weight etc. this is probly way to in depth. fuck it I'm a visual person.

took me weeks before i got comfortable pushing, but all of that went down the drain when i stopped pushing mongo. it's been a few months and i'm still not fully comfortable pushing in my usual (goofy) position.

try tightening your trucks if they're really loose. focus on keeping your feet just above/between the trucks when you push, try squatting a little while you push too.

It really wasn't a fall when I did it. I slid down on my ass and then leaned forward to stand up on my board but didn't realize my foot was under the wheel. Entire nail was black at first and had to pierce it with a drill to ease the pressure.

>>1119117
If I'm pushing then my right hand is ontop of my right knee and my left arm and chest go forward when I kick off. My regular stance I'm pretty much grabbing my ankle with my right hand because I do a lot of melon grabs. I also point my fingers down a lot.

Just got back from practice and I'm able to balance while pushing now but I have a problem with leaning back enough to steer. I know it's wrong but it seems to be easier for me to control the directions if I have my front foot on the right edge of the board and my back foot on the left edge but I read you are supposed to steer with only your back foot. Do I just have to keep leaning back further and further each time until I get the hang of it?

I was bombing some hills the last week, but as i'm still a retard and the pavement is shit, i can't do a powerslide. So, after going down the hill, i jumped off my board at high speeds.

Some moments after, i couldn't walk with my left feet. But i didn't gave a shit and kept bombing hills.

Well, some days after i was trying to do some tricks, and felt the pain on my feet again, specially in my Heel. I can't move my fucking feet in any direction or it will hurt as fuck.

It's been a week. Should i worry about that? I don't give a shit about the pain, the only thing i hate is i can't pop any tricks properly bc of the pain.
>>
>>1166095

>>
>>1166421

Nah dude honestly you will be surprised the resilience of your ankles and feet. Biggest mistake I ever made when I first started skating is going to the hospital on a rolled ankle. Rolled it bad, puffed up like a balloon, but guess what, all I got was some expensive as fuck xrays, a piece of plastic they wrapped with gauze, and them saying "don't walk for a bit and you'll be fine". Your body heals itself. It you feel like you need to take some time off take some time off. But make sure you're stretching everyday, being active everyday, and stretching before every time you skate no excuses. Doctors aren't magic.

If you treat your body like its made of glass, you'll make it so. If you tough it up, you'll get tougher. Its true.

That being said you learned an important lesson which is that you need to learn to roll. Look at videos of pros slamming. Do they run out of tricks? Sometimes but not really. You have tons of tiny bones in your feet. You're going to hurt yourself a lot more smacking your feet into the ground at 30 miles an hour trying to run out than you would jumping and rolling on your back once. And I know you said its rough ground but that's why you dress to skate and not for fashion. Don't skate in shorts, wear dickies or something thick and long sleeves even if its hot. If its a huge hill then tuck your pants into your socks and you'll be able to at least push into a fs powerslide and then just abort it into sitting on your ass and sliding.

Anyway you'll be fine and then you'll go back there and do it and you'll feel even better. And then years from now it'll seem small to you.

oh & anyone bombing hills around cars !REMEMBER!: god forbid you're about to hit a car, go UP, don't go down, if you jump before impact you will roll over the hood and not under the car - which would kill you. Important to remember everyone!!! A quick google will show you how many people didn't think they could die bombing hills around cars.. Know what you're doing!!

lol, i do. i thought i was the only one. if figure it's because of the wind or something. it's weird and embarrassing sometimes

>Dry-eye syndrome. It may not make sense, but dry-eye syndrome often leads to watery eyes. When eyes dry out, they become irritated and uncomfortable. That prompts the lacrimal glands to produce so many tears that they overwhelm the eye's natural drainage system. Tear production tends to lessen with age, so dry eyes are more common in older adults.

>Irritants. Your eyes produce excess tears in response to other types of irritation, such as dry air, bright light, wind, smoke, dust, an eyelash, or exposure to chemicals. Eyestrain also can cause watery eyes.
