Fat dude from other thread.

I bought my first board. I figured anything would do and something I built myself with somewhat quality parts would be better than a Walmart board, so I went and got this shit.
Goodwood Good Trip deck
Thunder Psonoradelic 149s
Spitfire Cheapshots
Spitfire Hypno-Swirl 56s
Black Magic Grip Tape
And some generic 1 inch hardware.

Did I fuck up somewhere? Are the 149s high enough to not make me bite the wheel, or should I buy some riser pads?

You're probably right but I'm hurting for cash right now. I'll probably make the upgrade to reds next month.
>>
>>1102484
I skate 149's too. You're going to get wheel bite regardless, you'll be fine.
>>
>>1102484
That looks great. Good wood is meh, but for your first board it's totally fine. If you are interested in price point decks that are surprisingly good check out Real's 'renewal' line.

I jump around and have a lot of different types of ideas for music/editing. JK style would be more of a female indie band or shoegaze dream pop female vocal type music. I finally learned how to import mkv files into final cut pro x... and the first movie i tested it on was a recent anime movie and i was going thru silent hill music and this track and that footage just matched up really well. I enjoy lots of japanese films too like lady snowblood, death by hanging, hausu, zeiram, tetsuo man etc that id like to throw in some edits in the future. Just need to find the right skaters
>>
>>1102850
I'm the white one. that black kid hated the edit posted on snapchat complaining about it hahaha. I haven't seen him in a few months. he attempted suicide a month or so ago and is extremely rude. He's young and possibly autistic or something? idk? something is wrong with him? Now that my filming is getting almost to where I want it to be, I want to start filming skaters who fit my editing and filming style.

which is like short 3-4 second clips of other media (video games, anime) that cuts between 3-4 clips of tricks for a little while and then eventually transitions to a 20 second line or a huge ending trick. idk i always liked editing videos, i used to make youtube poops all the time lol.

Tbh that's really what I'm trying to say. I'm kinda builtfat because I do powerlifting in my spare time when I'm not skating.

I guess if I'm being honest, my inability to do tricks is more due to a fear of failing in public than anything.

I would say keep skating and eventually you'll forget about that fear. And motivation won't help, its fickle, you're better off getting up and trying again.

>>1107210
Don't be afraid to fall in public! Remember that all those rad tricks in skate videos take a bunch of tries to land 99% of the time.

And yeah, have any of you guys seen the guy in my picture at all? Anywhere?
>>
>>1102523
Skateboards are going to get messed up if you ride on them and do a lot of tricks. Sometimes, the board will slip out from you and possibly hit a wall, chipping the front and back. The thing is, skateboards are wood, and wood does not compete with cement.

Your trucks, wheels, and everything else will last longer than your decks.

Ahh, the smell of fresh wood.
>>
File: leo_shirt1.jpg (11 KB, 250x250) Image search: [Google]
leo_shirt1.jpg

>>1106979

I used to hang my front toes off 1/2 to 1 inch or so. That might also be a sign you need a wider board. Or maybe that your trucks are too lose/your board is pressure cracked. Once i got good enough at them, and learned no-complies which really helped my technique, i can do them with my front foot in any position. But at first i had to hang my front toes off.

>>1107533

Theres no name for that, so you could just call it tic-tacing. To do it the way he's doing it having loose trucks helps. He's pushing with his back foot really hard and just letting his front up the tiniest bit at the same time, rather than lifting and turning like you would a tictac or kickturn. Thats also how he turns the frontside grind so much, because he's pushing into it with his back foot.
>>
>>1107673

I was actually talking about tips for not fucking up my knee over a long period of time!
What youre saying bout the board is true though and pretty much why i went for a simple, clear one that i wont mind destroying.
The fresh wood smell is already fading...
>>
How often do you get hurt on average? Im about to start skating about next month or so and im scared as shit of getting injured. I dont mind cuts and bruises but actual injuries make me tremble in fear.
>>
>>1108011
In the beginning? Be prepared to fall on your ass quite a bit, nothing serious though.
>>
>>1108011
majority of my injuries came/come/are from landing primo
>>
>>1108011
You probably won't get seriously hurt in your first couple of months unless you try some shit that is way out of your skill range. Rolled ankles, bruised shins, and falling on your ass probably will happen though, so you'll need to get used to that.
>>
>>1108011
What everyone else says. Just learn to take a fall and get right back up. It's half the fun if you ask me.
>>
>>1106027
its more fun to watch for people who dont skate and cant comprehend how hard it is to do technical street and park riding.

its like Evel Knievel
>>
>>1108011
Started about 2 months ago.

Sincerely, spend 2 months (or even more) getting a good balance on your board. Because you will know you don't have it yet when you fall.

You will probably fall on your wrist and ass a couple of times, Don't think about that, just try to learn.

Remember about basic stuff (How to proper get on the board, how to turn, how to go down ladders by putting your weight on your front etc)

And take your time. After a bit you will get so fucking used to it you will not go a day without thinking about shredding.

The chance you'll break a bone is almost none, just don't try shit you can't do yet.
>>
Is there such a trick like a Primo Slide, in a grind? is that even possible?
>>
>>1108521
Probably possible, but nearly impossible.
>>
>>1108011
Listen to some music that pumps you up big time and you'll feel indestructible and ready to do some crazy shit.
>>
>>1108514
>>1108514
This. I'm an older guy and I remember my first time riding my skateboard to middle school the day after I got it. HOLY CRAP. So much balance is needed!

But it eventually becomes like riding your bike. If you keep trying new stuff, keep doing tricks you've learned, and generally just doing tricks on new stuff (or even just riding it) you'll get better.

I don't like this approach desu. My approach to people yelling at me for skating is unavoidable, considering the way that I am, but I think it's pretty funny. I'm really sensitive and literally start crying anytime I get yelled at or someone says something mean. Their reactions are always top kek.

warm up before andafter. do jump rope, boxers do it to make there knees bouncy. Youll need that bounce when jumping for 2 hours. work your backand abs. Strong core and balance is key. Buy a foam roller, i swear they can cure cancer. take fish oil and stay hydrated. make sure you streatch and dont push it too hard. rid both goofy and regular it will help with your endurance and it wont create imbalances . i hope that helped.

Hi /esp/
I'm thinking about to get a skateboard but just to get from A to B faster than by foot.
What do you think? Should I get a skateboard and add some big wheels or should I buy a longboard? I'm not a fan of longboards because I see hipsters with them everyday and I haven't heard any good about them. As a noob I can't say which is better.

medium tight in the back with hard bushings.
super loose in the front with soft bushings. the kingpin nut is only halfway in, with lots of threadlocker glue. it's so loose you can adjust it with your fingers.

god, i have waaay too many hookups decks. pic related is my all-time favorite.

while i love their graphics, the deck quality itself is not that amazing. it's not bad or anything, it's just noticeably generic compared to decks made by ps-stix. the wood doesn't feel as compact and stiff. it almost feels soggy with less pop. it cracks, chips, and delams pretty fast too. as a first board, it's fine though. you should definitely get it.

did you get it just as it was out of the factory? because after a considerable amount of time, the board loses its liquids.

1st park sesh of the year(3rd time skating since almost all winter)

I was a bit rusty but i got back quite a few tricks which i'm pretty stoked

Park was wet at the worst spot and it pisses me off because i landed so Nollie front crooks before filming and after

Instead i kept the bad takes and the accidental nollie fs crooks to board

Tell me what y'all thinks

Dude i can barely nollie and switch flip, i have 'em sometimes but i never practice them because it's the trick that fucks with my mind

On flat i can do switch heels, switch inwards, switch bs heel, switch tre, switch bs/fs pop shuvs, switch fs flips, nollie bs flips, nollie heels, nollie inwards, i've landed a couple of nollie tre but seriously i've tryed one today and i had it, popped a nice one but i kinda landed on it but backwards, nollie fs/bs pop shuvs and i think i might forget some but whatever fuck switch/nollie flips

They're nice and all but they piss me off

I have a question for long time skaters: Do you experience an adrenaline rush when skating?

I'm not a skater but I need to know. It's for a research.

>>1117335

Not really but it gets your heart rate up for sure.

When you have a hard slam, yes, you get an adrenaline rush. A lot of times I have to slam first to focus myself on something.

If you have an almost-make, or a make that you barely hang on to, you get a rush also. Its more of a laughing can't believe that just happened kind of rush than sheer adrenaline.

Getting an adrenaline rush can be a bad thing honestly you want to keep your head down and your mind focused on what's going on. That's why smiling/being stoked on making something is sort of a fauxpa in skating.

Granted I've been skating a long time so maybe I'm just jaded. Maybe the people dropping in on the miniramp and doing rockfakies are getting huge adrenaline rushes. Hopefully they are.

Keep practicing, never forget to pop hard on the tail/nose, practice patiently, always be on the edge of your toes, practice more, at some point you'll start to feel more your board and be more comfortable with it

Then you'll start getting tricks, keep putting time into it and never forget it's nothing more than being supposed to be fun so don't rush it
>>

Next time you step on dog dung and on your board, just use a fucking hairdryer and use it on the griptape so it unsticks
